As wordsmith says we are going to miss President Bush it may take a while but I am certain many Americans will within months be saying President Bush would have handled that differently or showed more compassionate understanding etc. Many people in fact I believe will be shocked by their own feelings and words.

It is very noticeable that the economy has gradually worsened since 2007 when the dems took over the House and Senate.

I could also say that the rest of western world is not great either and that IMHO is because the saying American sneezes the rest of the world catches a cold is in many ways true. British politicans can pontificate as much as they like but much of our economy is controlled by the US and that is why I think that many of the cable news channel in particular the BBC are taking such an interest in this up coming election. It also is worth noting that much is made of the Presidential election but there are many seats up for election in the House and Senate as well. The dems cannot use the argument that the Presidency will automatically go to them because of the so called low approval ratings of the President and to be fair you hear less about this now because the comparison to congress could then be drawn and then conclude that these seats should go Republican unfortunately that is in most parts unlikely to happen.

Is Gene actually divorced I have heard various rumours that despite being separated for many years he is not divorced to that he is divorced and for that reason Condi will not marry him.

Above seems a contradiction though and probably like many rumours is totally untrue because if above was true were would she on many official occasions accompany him.

I think you will find throughout the Bush Presidency the photographers like to get “bad” photos of the VP. We all know that in several shots taken within minutes of each other you can get photos that shown many different moods etc.

It feeds the media hatred of the VP IMHO to either show him looking grumpy, tired or even nasty. There main arguments against him range from too old, too ill to comparison to Darth Vadar. I am sure there are many many good photos that never see the light of day. Lets be honest he probably hardly even moves without a photograph being taken but how many do you actually see publicly. I know some maybe are not shown on his request such as I am sure some great ones of him fishing and hunting taken by the White House photographers. On the whole though it is very hard to get a decent one of him I suspect today the good ones of him are only because he was standing next to Condi.

On more than one occasion I have seen photos which seem to infer he is asleep I am certain he is not but more likely pondering and studying his notes or papers. The press though like to suggest he is either unwell or bored

Since I am a naturalized cititzen, I have no idea, but I assume it came from the time the Star Spangled Banner was made the National Anthem. Perhaps someone else has a better information than I do

And today the empty suit had the audacity to blame John McCain, the Republicans and President Bush for the financial crisis that was brought on by the Clinton administration

No problem. It's what I do. The females of my kind are known as 'information goddesses.' We try to be humble... : )

My internet service has been down so I just now saw your posts to me last evening.

Cooking is not my specialty (I can barely boil water), so I can’t answer your questions about the food served at the State Dinner (although I would have loved to sample it); however, I can certainly agree with your statement that people will sooner rather than later miss our courageous, visionary President.

[With a personal approval rating of 60%, most people already like him; these same people will evaluate his job performance more positively once the harsh spotlight (and criticism) is shifted to McCain or Obama! Of course, the smart/informed people — over 40% of the American people (if polls were done accurately) — already appreciate the President’s job performance!]

I think you are right on the money.

He’s my favorite and most respected VP the USA has ever had, since I’ve been following American politics dating back to the Carter era.

Looking forward to the next dose.
