A man who threatened to behead two women because they were Christians was attacked in self-defense early Saturday and injured so severely, police say, that his eye was to be removed.
Russell Bowman, who called himself an atheist, showed up with a large knife at the women's apartment in the 700 block of Tia Juana Street about 3:15 a.m., police said.
Another resident grabbed a shotgun and ordered him to put the knife down. When Bowman refused and began approaching, the person hit him with the butt end of the weapon, police said.
Doctors at Memorial Hospital reportedly told police the eye would have to be removed.
Bowman, who lived in the same building, threatened the women a couple of days before the confrontation, Colorado Springs Police Lt. Pat Rigdon said. Alcohol appeared to play a role, he said.
Police will likely pursue charges of felony menacing against Bowman. The investigation will be forwarded to the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office to see if other charges are merited.

The left loves to call Christians the “American Taliban”. Sounds like the radical atheists are entitled to this honor.

I think “radical atheists” clarifies the matter rather well. Nobody said all atheists acted in this manner.

Atheists, for some reason, seem to feel perfectly justified in having utter hatred and intolerance for Christians. They actually perceive them as being the evil ones, for inflicting a sense of morality into their dark world. One that would most likely exist anyway, it’s just convenient to blame someone else for their imperfect understanding of the universe. And when they get real political power, such as what the Bolsheviks aquired in 1917, they feel completely justified doing far worse.

Atheists, for some reason, seem to feel perfectly justified in having utter hatred and intolerance for Christians. Actually only a tiny percentage, but of course they are the ones you hear about. The ones who just live and let live, and don't resent others practicing religion aren't going to have stories written about them.

Actually, the more tolerant atheists usually refer to themselves as agnostic. The term “atheist” implies, at least to me, something a bit over the top. For example, they will claim to know with absolute certainty that God doesn’t exist; which is of course purely emotional, nonsensical, and bordering on crazy.

Is it any crazier than agnositicism?
A = without.
Gnosis = knowledge.
An agnostic is literally one who posits or admits the possibility of an entity of which he has absolutely NO knowledge.
Agnosticism wouldn’t make it past the first chapter of Hume or Ayer.

He's going to have a really tough time in prison explaining how he got essentially "pistol whipped" by a girl he attacked.
But he's not going to be "lonely" by any means. His prison name will be "One-Eyed Sue" or something like that.

The real hatred of atheists is directed toward the Person Who Christians represent: Jesus Christ.
It's impossible for atheists to eliminate Him so they go after those who love Him and follow Him.

It just seems to me that someone who admits his knowledge is incomplete would be saner than someone who thinks they know more than what they can provide evidence for. That suggests irrationality; the heart of craziness. Someone might mistakenly conclude that theists are crazy as well; but the bible does qualify as evidence, wheras atheists are trying to prove a negative, which is impossible.

Call me a wimp... But if some enraged drunk is approaching me with a knife, and I have a shotgun in my hand, I am not going to turn it around to use the butt end!
But, all’s well that ends well. Yet another successful defensive use of a firearm. Good thing Obama hasn’t had a chance to take them all away, yet.
Oh, I forgot! Obama doesn’t want to take away our guns! He said so!!!

That's certainly true. What did Jesus say: that his followers would be hated by the world for his sake. And it seems to be the case. Look how they're calling Gov. Palin a religious fanatic nut-job. And funny how Barack doesn't get the same treatment, I wonder why? Or Clinton and Bush: one carries an oversized bible and probably doesn't believe a word of it, and is praised by the media. The other actually prays and is likewise called a religious nut.

There probably is more to the story than we've been given, and we can't ascribe all atheists to this type of behavior, but there is truth in the other post.
Atheists tend to be aligned with the Left, and the Left in America IS in fact America's Taliban. There is currently an article posted to FR about the violence that the Left caused and threatened simply because Karl Rove gave a speech. Look at the RNC convention. Look at how the ACLU sues everything Christian but nothing Islamofascist and how they use lawsuits in general as a form of terrorism to destroy the liberties in this country.
The Left is America's Taliban. I wouldn't be surprised if the whack job in this story is an Obama supporter.

I like to read a website called LiveScience but hate the way the writers and bloggers for the site talk about Christians. To them we are all stupid and mentally deficient among other things. The people that post comments are even worse. The whole place seems to be run by Atheists. A few Christians have tried to discuss things with them but always get shut out. I stay out of the blogs and forums now because of the attacks and just read the science news articles.
To: gridlock
Likewise! The only reason that I’d use the butt end of the shotgun would be when I’m out of ammo.
