History Dept. Chair: Palin Somehow Connected to Pacific Northwest Hate Groups
NewsBusters ^ | September 16, 2008 | P.J. Gladnick

The chair of the Connecticut College history department, Catherine McNicol Stock, has suggested that Sarah Palin is somehow associated with Pacific Northwest hate groups such as Posse Comitatus and the Aryan Nations. Her proof? Well, because Palin lived in areas with low "diversity." I kid you not. Here is the professor's "learned thesis" presented in a Philadelphia Inquirer opinion column melodramatically titled, "Intolerance thrives in Palin's Pacific Northwest" (emphasis mine):

Despite her efforts to portray herself as an average, small-town, "folksy" American, Sarah Palin's political views - ardently pro-gun, pro-censorship, antichoice and antigay - make John McCain's conservative credentials pale in comparison. What few observers have said, however, is these beliefs are not just extreme - they are radical, and even bear a comparison with some of the most notorious "rural radicals" of our time.

It has been years since groups such as the Montana Militia, the Posse Comitatus and the Sagebrush Rebels, and individuals such as Terry Nichols and Ted Kaczynski have made us wonder why so many "angry white men" populated our rural regions. Many of us have forgotten the threat once posed by domestic terrorists and instead have turned our attention to foreign terrorists. But we should never forget that in the late 20th century, ultra-Christian, antistatist and white-supremacist groups flourished in the states of the Pacific Northwest - called by many the "Great White Northwest" - the very region that Sarah Palin and her family call home.

Got that not so subtle connection between Sarah Palin and the Unabomber? And all because of Sarah Palin's choice of a region to call home. Stock then presents us her theory for all this supposed hate in the Pacific Northwest...lack of diversity:

This is the same mentality as Obama’s “clinging to guns and religion” comment. Prejudice and bigotry is not always due to race. These people are snobby, arrogant elitists who believe they are smarter and better than we uncivilized Westerners.

I am waiting for her to write a similar column about how living in Chicago associates you with 1960s terrorists groups such as the WeatherUnderground. No, wait, no need, Obama actually KNOWS such a dude and has often worked with him. What gives?

Boy, you’re busy this morning. I wonder what she thinks about all the “biased” polling? Or, maybe we’ve already seen one of her comments...?

The biggest and most organized hate group in America is the Democrat party. Palin is not a member of that group.

Someone needs to remind this kook that Ted Kaczynski is a far left enviro-kook, identical to Al Gore in his beliefs. What a jerk.

Let me get this straight. If you happen to live in a “low diversity” area, then you are by default, aligning yourself with hate groups? If you actually follow that line of thinking then probably 80% of the geographical area of the United States is “hate country”. The McCain/Palin campaign has it correct when they are putting “country first”. They are including everybody, everywhere, everyday.
Only those who preach “white guilt” can put out such stupid words and actually believe them.

this idiot is clearly unaware that Sarah is married to a non-white man (yes, Todd Palin is more Eskimo than Barak is black) and all 5 of Sarah’s kids are not 100% white. It has become laughable what kind of crazy theories people will come up with to discredit Sarah and her family.

I wonder if Stock realizes that most of these neotardnazi groups are Marxists who happen to believe in owning guns? I have a feeling she has a lot more in common with them than Palin does. Racism, after all, is the ultimate form of collectivism.

Hello? Bill Ayers? Or do direct associations not count; only indirect ones based on state of residence?

Well of course, here it comes. Sarah Palin is obviously a racist and bigoted homophobe. As a committed Christian what else could she be?

And she’s corrupt because of that “Trooper Gate” probe in Alaska that the MSM keeps trying to push.

And she’s obviously a bad mother because her daughter came home pregnant without a husband. OMG, she didn’t explain the facts of life to her little girl. And since people like Sarah want abstinence education, see what it gets you. Tsk Tsk. Sarah should have shown her daughter how to use pills and condoms.

And what is she going to do with that baby when she’s Vice-President? Why was Sarah pregnant at age 43 in the first place? What the heck were she and her husband doing?

And Alaska is a small insignificant state. It’s not even connected to the lower 48 states, so it doesn’t really count.

And being governor of Alaska doesn’t count. Being a senator from important states like Illinois and Delaware is the most important experience one needs to be president.

And is she really ready to be a heartbeat away from the Oval Office?

And, she was Sarah Barracuda when she played basketball. She wasn’t nice to the opposing team.

And Sarah will bring back the days of the coat hanger abortion. She’s against abortion, so she’s going to influence McCain to pick pro-life judges.

And remember Whoopi Goldberg is worried about having to be a slave if McCain/Palin win the election. Obviously Sarah’s clear bigotry on the subject will send Whoopi to the back of the bus, and back to the cotton plantation.

any other ideas of how America will descend into a thousand years of darkness if McCain and Palin win this election?
