A delegate to the Republican National Convention says he was robbed of more than $120,000 after he took a woman to his Minneapolis hotel room.

The Denver man told police he met the woman in a bar, then took her to his hotel room at Hotel Ivy. Police say that once there, the woman made the man drinks and told him to get undressed.

The 29-year-old delegate told police that was the last thing he remembered.

This is almost too “good” to be true.

All the elements of a good urban legend.

I can’t definitively say it’s not- but I say that it smells.

If it *was* true, I’m betting that the police report would already be up on “The Smoking Gun”.

Moron, indeed!

The bling was worth $55k (unless it is an insurance fraud scam); but why was he carrying over $65k in cash? It is his right to carry all the cash he wants, but not very smart when plastic is so much safer.

The missing items included a $30,000 watch, a $20,000 ring and a $5,000 necklace.

I think the credibility factor just went to zero. If the guy was wearing that kind of jewelry and didn't have better sense than hooking up with a stranger from a bar, ...

And where was the other $65,000? A belly-button diamond?

I'm betting the guy visited a Native American casino or back-ally craps game and lost that money.

Police believe he was drugged.

Often, probably.

On the bright side, at least he still has both his kidneys.

I hope he learned something from this experience.

Yeah, especially for people who are prone to bringing women they just met back to their hotel room and letting her fix a drink for him. He also might want to think about getting some cheap bling for these occasions. I don't know about Denver, but here in NYC there are Nigerian guys selling bling off folding tables on the sidewalks, who could set him up with a gigantic super-shiny watch/ring/necklace ensemble for $50 bucks.

What an old trick!

And a classic case of a man thinking with his digit rather than his brains.

He is 29 years old and he has a $30,000 watch. He has the connections that make him a delegate to the RNC. He doesn’t have the brains to know that you don’t take a floozy you hook up with in a bar back to your own hotel room.

Sounds like someone born into money and but not raised with common sense.

The problem with experience as a teacher is that it gives the test before it provides the lesson. This was a very expensive lesson.

I want to see this guy’s financial records before I believe this story. It’s a tad incredible.

Did the woman look like a bag lady who resembles Walter Matthau?

Maybe he picked up Barbra Streisand and she sold him Four Tickets to tonights performance, and airfare...That would be about $120k...

He should check his pockets for four Obama-Streisand tix...

What he is leaving out of the story is:

He had that much cash because he was a loser and assumed she was a hooker.
