Obama Camp Confirms Treasonous Actions on Iraq Trip
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 16 September 2008 | Rush Limbaugh

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Yesterday Amir Taheri in the New York Post quoted the Iraqi foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari as saying that Obama made the demand when he visited Baghdad in July that (paraphrasing) "You guys shouldn't start talking about troop withdrawal now, you should wait 'til the next president's elected." The quote here from the Iraqi foreign minister, "He asked why we were not prepared to delay an agreement on US troop withdrawal until after the US elections and the formation of a new administration in Washington. However, as an Iraqi, I prefer to have a security agreement that regulates the activities of foreign troops rather than keeping the matter open." So basically the foreign minister of Iraq says Obama came over here and tried to get us to delay any action whatsoever on the withdrawal of US troops until after the US presidential election.

Well, this sent the Obama campaign into a tizzy because this is a violation of law. This borders on treason. He's a presidential candidate. He cannot go over and negotiate for the United States on matters like this. Aside from the hypocrisy that was Obama promising everybody to get these troops out of there immediately when he was elected, this would push pack the withdrawal easily to 2011 or 2012. He's just a hypocrite on this. He wanted Bush to withdraw the troops so that Bush would lose the war, the Democrats would say Bush lost the war, but now that the prospect of winning the war could redound to Obama, he wants the troops there. He wants to be the one to declare victory, he wants to be the one to bring the troops out on his terms, and he asked the Iraqis to hold them. So his campaign sends out this denial yesterday. The campaign went nuts suggesting that this did not happen, and in the process of denying it, they confirmed it.

"Obama's national security spokeswoman Wendy Morigi said Taheri's article bore 'as much resemblance to the truth as a McCain campaign commercial.'" And then she said this in the statement, "In fact, Obama had told the Iraqis that they should not rush through a 'Strategic Framework Agreement' governing the future of US forces until after President George W. Bush leaves office." Well, that's exactly what the Iraqi guy said! So they send out this press release denying it, saying Amir Taheri, he's a conservative Iranian, he's lying about this, and in their denial they confirm it, they confirm exactly what Amir Taheri said, that Obama told the Iraqis they should not rush through a strategic framework agreement governing the future of US forces until after Bush leaves office, which is exactly what Amir Taheri said. Obama went to Iraq and interfered with US diplomacy and is now denying it. This is a sitting duck issue. McCain, whoa, do you realize what's just fallen into your lap here, my good friend? Your buddies in the media are going to gloss over this. They're going to gloss over Troopergate. In fact, they're going to portray the exact opposite, Troopergate, Tasergate. Gonna have to hammer this stuff. If you don't want to do it, let Palin go out and do it. Somebody's gotta go out and hammer this guy on this and his economic ignorance, woeful, scary economic ignorance.

To say this action by Obama should be called “Troopgate” is to trivialize it. Bottom line, it seems to me, is that he went over there on his whirlwind world leader photo-op trip in July and attempted to negotiate foreign policy - monkeying around with the LIVES of American troops in order to use them to feather his own personal political ambition nest. - IF getting the troops home NOW was Obama’s dearest desire, what he did indicated the EXACT OPPOSITE.

At the time, he must have thought he had already been elected President. He hadn’t, and does not deserve to be.
This is TRULY a scandal.

Obama has no respect for our Troops!

He is not CIC material. He is using our men and women serving our Country to defend our feedom and their accomplishments in establishing a democracy in Iraqi for his own gain.

I wonder what other “requests” he made on his European Fantasy Tour? I’d love to hear about his meetings with Merkel & Sarkosy or their opponents in Germany and France.

Obama is undermining the very foundations of our Country and it seems like we just have to stand by and watch while he destroys our Greatness in the free world!

I know Mark covered this story two nights on his show (thank you, Great One). Rush mentioned it for one teeny segment yesterday and today. Other than Fox’s few reports, starting yesterday morning with Brian interviewing Dan Senor, there has been no other reporting. Nothing from Brit. How about Sean? Doesn’t anyone find this strange??? Are they keeping quiet waiting for the McCain camp to come out blazing?

Exactly...the approach should be pretty simple:

1. This is against the law; a lawyer should know this.
2. You’re a Senator, not an Ambassador. Most Senators know this.
3. It’s still against the law, even if you’re a Senator.

One of Rush’s friends at NRO is Andy McCarthy- a former AUSA .
He does not think Obama meets the threshold for Logan Act prosecution, but, does think ( if this is true, which the Obama campaign has confirmed ) Obama should be investigated and penalized on a different level.
I have friends in that arena who disagree and believe that Barry did violate the Logan Act .
This absolutely warrants an investigation.
The Bush Administration is often hamstrung and frozen in place, so, I don’t expect anything from them.
Congress is neutered on the Republican side.
The media is in the tank for Obama.
It’s now up to the blogosphere ,talk radio and military families to demand an investigation.
I’m calling my Congressman and Senator tomorrow to demand an investigation.
We owe this to the troops serving in Iraq.

Because to prosecute Barack Obama prior to November 5 would guarantee an electoral victory for his replacement.

Personally I'd like him tried for treason.

He was not waging war against the U.S. and suggesting that his actions gave aid and comfort to the enemy would be a pretty big stretch. Treason is a crime defined in the Constitution and, much as I'd like to see Barack prosecuted for treason, I don't think his crimes quite qualify.

I know, you're correct....but I'm just so ripped by the guy ....I'm 75yrs. old and I just can't imagine the gall of the man....isn't there any rule that says a “wanna be little tin dictator” shall not run around the world butting in on foreign affairs? Who gives him the authority to do that?

The longer I observe his actions, and see the direction our nation is being taken...all without the input of the citizens...the more it reminds me of Venezuela and that creep dictator that got “elected” and promptly took over the private industries ...gas, farming etc.

I think what is happening is no accident of events....some little group of elitists are in the “back room” pulling the strings all according to their “One World “ plan.....they're just getting the upstart Americans in line...after all, we can't be any better off than the rest of the world....fine, wonder where the countries will go for their handouts when we really are no better off than they.
