Ryan O'Neal, son, arrested in drug sweep at home

Ryan O'Neal and his son were arrested Wednesday morning after authorities said they found drugs at the actor's Malibu home during a routine probation check. Investigators suspect both men had methamphetamine, but the substances still need to be tested, Los Angeles County Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said. Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies and probation officers went to O'Neal's home for a routine check of his son Redmond, who is serving three years of probation after pleading guilty in June to drug possession charges. Whitmore said in addition to drugs that deputies suspect belong to Redmond O'Neal, deputies also found narcotics in Ryan O'Neal's living area. Both men remain in custody on $10,000 bail and could be charged with felony possession of narcotics. Ryan O'Neal, 67, was nominated for a best actor Oscar for "Love Story." Redmond, 23, is his son from a relationship with actress Farrah Fawcett. O'Neal had two children with his first wife, Joanna Moore: actor Griffin O'Neal and actress Tatum O'Neal, his co-star in the 1973 movie "Paper Moon," for which she won an Oscar for best supporting actress. Tatum O'Neal, the youngest actress to win an Oscar and who now has a recurring role on FX's series "Rescue Me," pleaded guilty in July to disorderly conduct in connection with an arrest on suspicion of cocaine possession in New York. Ryan O'Neal was arrested last February on suspicion of assaulting his son, Griffin, but charges were never filed. A call to Ryan O'Neal's agent, David Shapira, was not immediately returned Wednesday morning.

Actually I find this sad. The last I knew, Ryan O’Neal was on the TV show Bones and it was he first time I had seen him in anything that I liked. Meaning that I normally can’t stand him. Or his offspring.

On February 4, 2007, actor Ryan O'Neal, 65, was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm during an altercation between O'Neal and his 42-year-old son Griffin. According to an interview with the Los Angeles Times and O'Neal, Griffin "grazed him four or five times" with the fireplace poker, ultimately hitting his girlfriend, JoAnne Berry in the head. O'Neal then went to his room and got his gun, then fired a shot at the bannister in attempt to frighten Griffin, who was running towards him. After posting a $50,000 bond, O'Neil was released from jail.

You should be.

" All of this guy’s children (from ex-wives Joanna Moore, Leigh-Taylor Young, & Farrah Fawcett) have had drug problems."

I thought his son Patrick, by Leigh-Taylor Young, was pretty clean. He's a sportscaster for Fox Los Angeles. Didn't know that he had also fought the demons. Ryan is in remission from chronic myelogenous leukemia, if he's fooling with drugs like this, he's pretty foolish.

The last I knew, Ryan O’Neal was on the TV show Bones...

Where oddly enough he plays the part of a former bank robber who is in jail for a murder he did commit and is also plays the father of a convicted felon (Bones's brother.) Excellent casting! Maybe they can arrange to film cameos of him without having to spend for fake prison sets or wardrobes.

That said, I too like Bones and had finally enjoyed Ryan O'Neal's acting with this particular lovable rogue character. I shall save my weakly shadenfreude for alGore, who's carbon trading firm was administered via Lehman Brothers!

Patrick did turn out better than the others. It’s also notable that of all of Ryan O’Neal’s children, Patrick O’Neal has had the least to do with his father.
