This afternoon, I mentioned an infamous group of hackers whose Internet bulletin board was the gathering place for those who bragged about and publicized the Sarah Palin private e-mail hacking.
A tech-savvy reader who monitors the hackers’ site e-mailed me a detailed explanation of how it went down, who was responsible, and how someone with a conscience warned a friend of the Palin family of the crime (language warning):

I took this quote from a different link. Can you believe the mentality of these idiots?
1) The idea was that the sea of Anonymous /b/tards would download the emails, upload porn, and cause all manner of mischief.

2) This afternoon, in a thread that was later deleted, an individual claiming to be the original poster gave his account of what happened. I’ve attached screencaps. Here’s the text. The original poster used the name “rubico.” The linked email address for the poster was rubico10@yahoo.com.
To an FBI or Secret Service folks who may read this, go get him!!!!!
3) I read though the emails… ALL OF THEM… before I posted, and what I concluded was anticlimactic, there was nothing there, nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped, all I saw was personal stuff, some clerical stuff from when she was governor…. And pictures of her family

after the password recovery was reenabled, it took seriously 45 mins on wikipedia and google to find the info, Birthday? 15 seconds on wikipedia, zip code? well she had always been from wasilla, and it only has 2 zip codes (thanks online postal service!)
the second was somewhat harder, the question was “where did you meet your spouse?” did some research, and apparently she had eloped with mister palin after college, if youll look on some of the screenshits that I took and other fellow anon have so graciously put on photobucket you will see the google search for “palin eloped” or some such in one of the tabs.
I found out later though more research that they met at high school, so I did variations of that, high, high school, eventually hit on “Wasilla high” I promptly changed the password to popcorn and took a cold shower…
Password recovery exploited. Not much of a "hack". Yawn.

Given the thuggery coming out of the Obama Campaign, I am not buying this ‘explanation’ just yet. I hope others don’t as well.
The DUmmies et al. are kinda wetting themselves over this. First they were giddy about this event -- now they are worried and think this is a Rovian trick designed to contine the storyline that Palin is being unfairly attacked.
Too bad for them that Gov. Palin is squeaky clean. You just know if there was some troopergate stuff or anything bashing hillary then it would be reprinted allover the place and we would be TOTALLY screwed.

The funny part of this whole thing is the emails they ‘exposed’ show Palin is just as sincere in private as she is to the cameras- same values, same areas of important. It shows she is genuine.
If he was really only behind one proxy, then I’d be surprised if he isn’t already in custody. He certainly can look forward to waking up to the FBI at the door if he’s not.
Yep, come to think about it, it wasn’t that hard at all, considering how much of Governor Palin’s personal info the MSM has thrown out over the past two weeks.
Why do so many password-recovery doodads require people to use stupid questions? There are many things that I will remember for a lifetime, but few people are apt to know but me; indeed, some things nobody will know but me.
For example, 'What was the name of the singer you saw at Ontario Place during childhood'. I saw exactly one concert there, and I remember some of the songs from the concert as well as the identity of the lead singer. I suppose a stranger who was really desperate might conceivably be able to figure out when my parents and I were in Canada, and then cross-check that with a schedule of Ontario Place concerts, but I doubt that would be a realistic attack. Of course, my parents and siblings might remember some of that information, and perhaps even the concert itself, but strangers wouldn't have a chance.
BTW, one of my pet peeves is web sites that have various requirements for passwords but don't state those requirements at the login page. I can't see that putting such information on the login screen would compromise the security of any site that allows free public accounts.

I can't help but think that these scumbags hacking her email account will also backfire. On Greta tonight, Bernie Grim and Gloria Allred (both apparently hopelessly brainwashed) seemed more concerned about Palin "using the private email account to conduct state business." Greta handled this well... but this just shows more piling on by the left. Had this been Obama or Biden having their email accounts hacked, things would be much different. The double-standard is SICKENING!
You know, in McCain’s defense, it’s probably not such a bad thing not knowing how to email or text. He’s probably the safest guy on the planet from Hackers.

McCain knows how to email. He just doesn’t do it. It’s crazy to use email to do the job of a telephone call when everything you email is archived and subject to discovery in a court of law.

It’s way past time Palin stopped using email at all. For most of us it’s just a necessary pain in the butt, but for a Vice President of the United States it is a security risk and a deadly political hazard.

Slashdotters are saying that the password for the account was the Wasilla zip code - and the password recovery involved her dob. Unsure if those were original settings or if they were reset to that.
