Josh Howard Of The Dallas Mavericks Curses The National Anthem And Invokes Barack Obama!
"The Star Spangled Banner is going on right now. I don't even celebrate that (sh*t) . . . I'm black. Obama 08!

And this is what hurts Obama with those blue collar white people in PA, and MI.
uh.... one word.... “typical”?
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
Ah yes, another gem from a player of “Thugball”.
Just wow. I hope he invested well.
Well since this guy won’t be voting for a white candidate if it fair then to say he is a racist if the same is said for any white person who votes against Obama?
Being that Dallas is in TX, and TX seems to be filled with American loving folks (except, maybe for Austin. It’s kinda like our Madison.), it’s amazing the Mavericks’ attendance numbers haven’t suffered. Perhaps they will this year.
really, I'd a sworn you look like any other peckerwood with an IQ of 70 Josh.
Hopefully the Mavericks will lose tonight and Howard goes 0-22 from the field.
so maybe the ungrateful America-hating bum starts taking his pay in Zimbabwean currency, then...
Now this guy is one class act. Yeah, this'll sure play well in all the swing states OHB wants to win.
JHo’s been a slow-career decline since unexpectedly admitting marijuana use during the playoffs last year.
Arrgh! On a day when I a feeling very nrgative about the outcome of this election and about the future of the country I so very much love, this shit comes out and it pisses me off!
Another multi-millionaire, a multi-millionaire because of the opportunities America has given him, slams America and it’s traditions and promotes a racist Marxist for president. Unreal! I hope the people of Dallas boycott Mavericks games until the release this punk! He doesn’t deserve anything good.
What’s happened to my country? Are we doomed to an enevitable collapse?
God, if you are listening, please save our country.
Are you kidding? Next to Boston, Dallas is probably the most jock-worshipping city in America. Pro athletes can do no wrong in this town so long as The Team is winning. Josh Howard could sodomize his own mother at center court and most fans wouldn’t care. In Dallas, winning is everything.
Why, he works for Mark Cuban, just towing the company line.
This has been pretty big news here in the DFW area all day and contrasted with Colby's interview at the Olympics
'Our Country Is the Best'
WSJ-August 18, 2008; Page A14
Assorted TV commentators keep opining that the Olympics are all about the brotherhood of man, rather than national ambition or patriotism. But don't tell that to the fanatically nationalist Chinese -- or to Kobe Bryant, the NBA star who is playing with Team USA in Beijing.
In an interview Friday on NBC, the world's most famous basketball player told Chris Collinsworth how he got "goosebumps" when he received his Olympics uniform. "I actually just looked at it for a while. I just held it there and I laid it across my bed and I just stared at it for a few minutes; just because as a kid growing up this is the ultimate, ultimate in basketball." The Los Angeles Laker went on to call the U.S. "the greatest country in the world. It has given us so many great opportunities, and it's just a sense of pride that you have; that you say, 'You know what? Our country is the best.'"
Mr. Collinsworth seemed either startled or impressed by such sentiment, and asked, "Is that a cool thing to say in this day and age? That you love your country, and that you're fighting for the red, white and blue? It seems sort of like a day gone by."
To which Mr. Bryant replied: "No, it's a cool thing for me to say. I feel great about it, and I'm not ashamed to say it. I mean, this is a tremendous honor."
Cynics will claim that this is merely about marketing, with Mr. Bryant hoping to use the Games to burnish his public image. On the other hand, he and his rich teammates on the basketball squad are giving up their offseason to play for nothing save possible medals. Mr. Bryant has also been an enthusiastic spectator for other U.S. Olympians, waving the Stars and Stripes at various events.
To the kind of Americans who consider themselves primarily "citizens of the world," nationalism at the Olympics is déclassé, even embarrassing. We're with Kobe.
Great story about Kobe! Thanks for posting. What a contrast.
Damn you Bill Gates and your crappy spell checker! How does Bill Gates put out Vista and Steve Jobs gets cancer...there is no justice!
“Obama 08!” is deleted from the AP quotation!

I have to agree...I have never have been a Kobe fan...but what he said about representing his country made me respect him a whole lot!
How sad and typical that the AP censored that out! Pathetic!
Since less than 5% of college basketball players ever make it to the NBA, and there are tons of talented players who can’t break into the NBA due to the stiff competition, the NBA could be very selective about who they take. They could weed out ungrateful people like this dude, and get rid of him.
The NBA has a terrible image problem with other players, who act like gansta rappers. I know he’s not the only one. I’m just saying that some type of behavior code should be implemented to screen out the undesirables.
Personally I wouldn’t pay money to go to an NBA game the way the league has deteroirated with the caliber of player they allow. The NBA may be losing some fans by the way they allow and celebrate the gangster image.
Pardon me but bullsh@t. I have lived in Dallas for 20 years and know lots of folks who could care less about the Cowboys after their drugs and party girl houses. Screw ‘em - I don’t give my time or my money to garbage like this player.
And you are a fool if you do.
good word choice Dick. I’ll throw out “it figures” or “what do you expect” as a few phrase picks. also, I haven’t payed attention to that TC basketball leauge since the great Jerry West retired in ‘74. at one time the NBA was a hell of a show.
Makes me think of that interview in the Olympics where the guy asked the Black American athlete why he would be proud of his country.
yeah, remember mexico city.
I think the Jeremiah Wright fiasco was just the tip of the iceberg. I just want to know how many black Americans...especially the younger generation...really think this way. It’s very disturbing.
And make it a one way ticket.
Hey, don’t look at me. I’m East Dallas born and raised, but the Dallas I knew and loved doesn’t exist any more, and that includes the Cowboys. I couldn’t care less if they win, lose, or go under. And that goes for all pro sports. If the whole NFL vanished tomorrow I wouldn’t shed a tear. Ditto the NHL, MLS, NBA, and Major League Baseball.
You may know some people in Dallas who have given up on pro ball. But you and I both know that they are far outnumbered by the mobs of sports-crazed fanatics who would suck the sweat out of Josh Howard’s jockstrap if he asked them to.
PS — I don’t live in Dallas anymore; I live in Tarrant County now. (And FYI, we voted NO on the Jerrydome.)
We Houstonians have been tellin’ y’all for years now that Dallas sucks. When y’all gonna believe us?
we need to start showing this “ship” around to the good citizens of Pa and Ohio and Colorado....this is what a Barryite looks like....hateful and evil..
Does not surprise me.
Mark Cuban produced Redacted’ and MOST anti-American films with George Clooney so having another black anti-American ingrate on his organization is nothing new.
Sorry, I didn’t see the link at the top of the thread.
This clown is wealthy only because he is an American. He should get the Hell out of the country. Boycott the NBA until this clown is thrown off the team.
Hey, Chris Paul, Kobe, Chris Bosh, Lebron and others would disagree with you. They celebrated like kids winning the Gold Medal in Beijing. They talked of patriotism and representing their country.
Josh Howard is an a-hole who drag races and smokes weed (not that I care particularly about the smoking up) and apparently has some racial issues.
Don’t confuse the two simply because they have dark skin.
Mark Cuban is the pits. Him and his NBA team can go to Hell.
In fairness the champion of 06, Dwyane Wade and the others on the Olympic squad were absolutely the polar opposites of this punk. But Wade showed his heart (even though he likes obama and Chicago) in that series while the America-hating bum Howard lost after getting a two games lead.
Don’t prejudge every player because of one jerk. You wouldn’t do the same if it were a leftist white player (like Adam Morrison for the Bobcats in Charlotte.)
The folks in Dallas deserve more than this POS owner. When they lost in the finals vs. Dwayne Wade and the Heat, I was ecstatic...and I’m from Chicago. At least OUR owners place their hands on the hearts and sing the national anthem.
Agreed. The fact that Cuban defended him on national TV..that he needed to be more careful with camera phones...is even more disturbing. He didn’t even comment on how vile his words were!
I agree. There are a lot of decent, patriotic athletes too.
This is the most succinct and quintessential example of the thought process of a vast majority of Barry’s supporters:
I hate America, I’m voting for Obama.
I know that this country has seen several events over the years that has challenged her ability to survive, but, if this election goes the wrong way, God help us all.
Esp. in football, maybe because of the born-again factor, most players are right-leaning, regardless of race. Which is odd, as football is the most ‘collectivist’ sport that has that kind of following.
That’s why Cuban won’t trade him out. BOTH those 2 probably watch Michael Moore documentaries together.
When I read that this asshat wants to buy MY Chicago Cubs, I was totally pissed. Cuban couldn’t even have the Mavs win the NBA Finals, nor a playoff series with the lowly Golden Dtate Warriors..and I thought the White Sox suck.
Kobe’s patriotism doesn’t make him any less of a rapist.
Yeah..I have noticed a number of Obama’s supporters displaying this very attitude. Makes me sick that so many have zero perspective or appreciation of America.
No..it doesn’t. I think he was guilty of that. I was just happy to see him saying playing for his country was the greatest honor of all.
