You're obviously not a liberal at heart...

I'd hate tho think one jump to a wrong conclusion would forever label me such on FR. Thanks for the compassion. I'm ABSOLUTELY not a liberal; I just know that everyone can make a mistake now and then, including, sometimes, about email issues.

The thing is, Obama claims he is above these sorts of tactics. Of course, he’s only opposed to them if they are used on him or if they don’t benefit him.

Yes they were on fire. They were very efficient in getting ads out. I haven’t seen any new ads lately. There is one that goes after Obama, but it’s not that hard hitting and has been around for a while.

Why do they keep reporting that she used her personal email to do Government work? Was there emails that were released that substantiate this? Because they want to see THE ONE selected... but, they are too stupid to realize that once they have served their useful purpose, they too will be tossed aside. In a Socialist's world, there is only so much room at the top....

I know you're not a troll or a liberal. However, do you see how you were manipulated by the left to shift the issue from someone being victimized to blaming the victim? It's an analogy which immediately came to me watching Greta last night on Fox and her panel of lawyers. Gloria the b Aldrige moving the victmization to the canard and accusation of business over the Yahoo account. The analogy was to the rape victim - blaming her because she wore a short skirt or had too much make-up, or smiled at the perp, or.... Get it?

Oh, yeah, I get it. See post 90. I'm spanking myself for getting snookered by the Enemedia so easily; it's hard to understand such blatant lying and my nature is still an expectation of honesty in others. Lesson learned.

So now ABC is flat out lying - saying that "Sarah" used her personal email to do gov't business - when it has already been established that she didn't. (If you can't talk personally, on non-gov't issues, to anyone else who works in gov't - then we gotta a lot of investigating to do of all those cretins in DC who ever speak a word to another politician unless it's on the record.)

Right.

This has to be stopped - it's Communism 101, pure a simple. Destroy the enemy by slander, accusations...they don't have to have any validity. People will question - and that will be all that counts.

I hope and pray that this tatcic won't work so well in this day when people have access to the Internet and get the facts, rather than depending on the MSM's force-fed lies.

The story is the criminally hacking of private email - PERIOD

From the Malkin Blog entry I posted above:

I really wanted to get something incriminating which I was sure there would be, just like all of you anon out there that you think there was some missed opportunity of glory, well there WAS NOTHING, I read everything, every little blackberry confirmation… all the pictures, and there was nothing,

This guy had the WILL to find some dirt on her (rumor's going around that he's the son of a State Rep from TN or some such - it was politically motivated by the Dems of course) but there simply wasn't anything there.

Can anyone imagine the biased press sitting on the story if they'd found something?

The perps emailed the crappy screen shots they had to the press anyways. If there'd been dirt there, they'd have been emailed even faster and the press woulda jumped all over it.

Nothing at all.

I love Palin, but can’t disagree that using Yahoo! (or any other similar) email for business is less than genius.

So you're swallowing the Communist propaganda that she was using her personal email acc't for business!

That's a perfect example of why the Communist 101 tactic of slander and false accusations to destroy opponents works - there will be enough people who will swallow all or part of it, hurting the person slimed.

Palin was simply chatting with a friend, who also happens to be in the gov't, about PERSONAL matters. ARe you saying she has no right to do this?

LISTEN UP FOLKS...Palin was using her private email for private, NON_gov't, NON-business chat.

The felons also stole and printed personal photos of her children and Bristol's cell number - So should they also not have family photos on their personal email site? etc

Don't buy into the slander. It's what they count on.

She is the victim - not the criminal. Let's keep our eye on the ball.

Using this logic, none of our elected officials should ever use a private phone line that is not being recorded, in fact, their offices should be bugged so there is a recording of everything they say that has anything to do with official business or people with whom they ever conduct or discuss official business. I wonder if Congress will go for that?

Folks this is mis-direction going on by the Dems and the MSM.

This is the Democrats WATERGATE.

So instead of letting the focus be on the “break in”, they are trying to change the focus to how she used her personal email account. That does not matter right now.

If they had broken into her house, and taken documents, there would be a 50 state manhunt going on right now.

Keep this in the news, and keep everyone focused on the real issue - hacking her private email.

Even Greta was trying to keep her panel focused last night. She couldn’t get them to stop spewing about IF she conducted business through this email account. Not having evidence to back them up didn’t stop them. Gosh, people are being particularly stupid this election year.

I agree that government officials should use official email accounts that are archived, but I would be surprised if this goal is anywhere close to being achieved.

Should only apply to work-related email. As a gov employee I too am required to use encrypted systems for sensitive information, but I am not required to use my work email for communicating with co-workers outside of work for non-work related matters. Neither is Palin. The whole story is based on a false premise that the content of the emails was work-related. The MSM is counting on their readers to not examine the content of what is being alleged. Her personal email being breached should theoretically not pose a threat because any communications sent to contacts pretending to be work-related should send up a red flag for the recepient since that was not her usual practice.

Sorry, but it *is* pretty stupid to use Yahoo to conduct official business. Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail... Heck, she may as well have used Mailinator. And look what happened.

I can’t comment on what Alaska law may be regarding conduct of official state business on non-government systems, retention of official correspondence, etc. so I won’t speculate.

You are worse than speculating. you are carrying the Communists water for them by saying she used her email for business' and or to 'conduct official state business'

NOW LISTEN UP! You people here that are commenting about her using her personal email for 'business' etc = SHE DIDN'T and WASN'T. All she was doing was chatting with friends about NON-gov't and NON-business stuff. Does she not have this right?

Please, Freepers, stop falling into the Communist 'throw mud, some will stick" tactic and stick with the facts.

The only thing wrong here is a criminal act of hacking someone's email.

I'm beginning to wonder if some of the posters are RAt sleepers?

The burden of proof is on you to show that she used it for official business. Show me where in any of her emails she was conducting official business. You can't, can you? That means the only important thing left about this story is the violation of law and privacy.

Using a personal email address for personal matters outside of work shows poor judgement? Perhaps we need to see if she used a non-work phone for non-work matters. Perhaps we need to see if she's ever visted non-work websites on a non-work computer. You have a very funny idea of what constitutes poor judgement.

Somewhere around here last night I read an account supposedly from the very person who hacked the account. He told how he had gone about it and that he had spend considerable time going through the email hoping to find something incriminating, but alas he allowed it was all very innocuous and downright boring. It was only then he decided to post access information for everyone to see and use. He went on to say he soon came to his senses and realized the ramifications of what he had done. Seems like he said he shut off the system, disconnected it from the Internet and hid in the dark for a couple of hours.

My guess is they know by now exactly who it was and where it was done. It's pretty hard to do something like that without leaving tracks.

He or she deserves whatever happens to them.

And no, I don’t use Yahoo, Gmail or Hotmail when I’m communicating with anyone I have a work relationship with, even if the communication is not of a professional nature. Why? Because I know better. Hopefully she does too.

Using work email for non-work matters, even with co-workers, is anything but professional. Most companies will tell you that explicitly. I assume you have a professional email address, and in that case I'd expect you to know better.

Actually, according to a story over at Malkin's blog, this was done by a single person. They didn't find anything interesting in the mailbox, so the had a hissy-fit and posted the email name and password tii the site admins panicked and pulled it after someone went in and changed the name and password.
Malkin doesn't understand what she's talking about. Whenever some kids vandalize an account like that, they *always* post it so they get "respect" in their community. Otherwise their peers won't believe them. There's a whole subculture around this sort of thing. It had nothing to do with politics.

Frankly, using Yahoo! at all I would consider a lapse in judgment unless you're using it as a throwaway account.

Yahoo! mail has a horrific security record. You might as well write your messages on a public webserver for all to see.

As a person in the public eye, someone on Governor Palin's security detail should have warned her off from using third-party email systems. She should have used a nice local Alaska-based ISP's webmail system where she could send a cop down there and wail on them if they screwed it up.

Get this straight. There was a criminal act committed here. The perp needs to be prosecuted. No one is denying that.

And if someone steals your car, the car thief needs to be prosecuted.

However, if you left your keys in the ignition, you would bear some of the blame, no?

That's all anyone is saying about Governor Palin. She shouldn't have used Yahoo! mail for ANYTHING because it's a putrid, stinking security nightmare.

I think I have to take a break and check what forum I'm on

Perhaps you should. This is Free Republic, a conservative forum. And we expect people to think and to be responsible for their own actions.

Some of Greta’s guests have been very liberal. She used the Fact Check guy to talk about some of the rumors surrounding Gov. Palin. Fact Check is run by Annenberg Foundation, who also helped fund all the left wing groups that Obama has been associated with, including his community organizing.

By the way, no one has bothered to answer my question about whether the blog that posted the emails was one of those that were vetted by the DNC and the Obama campaign to cover their convention.

I think that the hacking went deeper than just emails, they posted her personal phone list, as well.
