Obama produces a work described by Time Magazine as "the best-written memoir ever produced by an American politician."

Uh-Huh......

I hear that the National Enquirer has a blockbuster expose entitled “Obama’s Memoir Ghost Written by Terrorist” but I don't want to post that and have it unfairly put into the Google cache :)

I think the Earl of Oxford wrote Obama’s memoirs. Seriously, from the quality of the excerpts I’ve seen, it’s entirely possible that a slacker like Obama could’ve written his own books. It’s not that hard.

There are computer programs that can figure this out.

They used it to compare disputed Shakespeare works.

People have frequency of certain words and turns of phrase.

Read the article! It says that Edward Said was another Obama pal. Good grief.

This sounds quite plausible: both Mr. and Mrs. Obama are too challenged to speak full proper sentences off TelePrompter, let alone pen something with flair. In such case, Mr. Cashill’s sleuthing is a nice find indeed.

The “similarity” between these passages is “evidence”?

Not seeing it.

At all.

Cashill now believes that the Obama book is substantially a product of the unrepentant former terrorist. He cites two passages from each book as evidence:

“I picture the street coming alive, awakening from the fury of winter, stirred from the chilly spring night by cold glimmers of sunlight angling through the city.” Bill Ayers, Fugitive Days.

“Night now fell in midafternoon, especially when the snowstorms rolled in, boundless prairie storms that set the sky close to the ground, the city lights reflected against the clouds.” Barack Obama, Dreams From My Father.

There is nothing in common between these two passages except perhaps they both describe Chicago. Big deal. Cashill should stick to what he knows best - creationism.

“A forensic textual analysis of Ayers’ and Obama’s books could answer this question. It could also be the sword that finally slays the presidential asperations of the junior senator from Illinois.”

I wish I was as optimistic as you. I have come to the conclusion that Obama could knife an old lady in the street with Michelle Obama holding her down and it would still be neck in neck with McCain. Heck, if she were a Republican, it might even move him up 10 points or so.

I doubt that it would have any effect on Obama’s chances to be elected, but it does strike me that, whether Ayers wrote the “memoirs” or not, they were written by someone other than Obama. For one thing, they are so carefully, discreetly massaged to project an image without providing any real information about Obama that they certainly would seem to be the product of somebody who’s a professional at this type of work. And while they’re certainly not great writing, I suspect they’re more than the stumbling, bumbling Obama could produce.

In that case, the question is why? Or, perhaps, the question should be how long the creation of this Manchurian candidate has been in the works, and who is behind it.

Well Well Well..... From wikipedia

William Charles “Bill” Ayers (born 1944) is an American Distinguished Professor in the College of Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is most well known for his violent radical activism in the 1960s and 1970s and his current work in school reform and educational curriculum and instruction. In 1969 he co-founded the militant radical left organization Weatherman active during the 1960s and 1970s and was one of its top leaders.

OMG! As a small time writer and former small publisher, I know creating a First book that has the phrases Obama supposedly used just doesn’t happen. Those kinds of lines come off terribly hackneyed unless you know exactly what you are doing. The Ayers connection seems very believable.

What is perhaps even more likely is that both memoirs were ghost written by the same writer.

I can easily imagine Ayers passing along the name of his ghoster to a frustrated Obama who hadn’t been able to progress his book for three years.
