You’re right, it’s a problem with the young and naive (law wise) servicemen. The investigators have much training in the methods to exploit these guys when it comes to “being their buddy” and then later sticking it to them.
I’ve seen several lawyers here make posts that say do not talk to an investigator without a lawyer, I used to think that was going too far but I sure don’t now.

I used to think that was going too far It is only that it is simply your right not to say anything and to have a lawyer present. It doesn't have anything to do with not cooperating in an investigation. It is my opinion that doing anything to discourage or abrogate the use of those rights is what I would call "going too far".
