Obama votes 'Present' on new economic rescue plan for now (the empty-suit has no ideas)

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Sen. Barack Obama today met with some of his many economic advisors and made an announcement that he was not going to make an announcement about any new plan to plan plans.

Obama did suggest a bipartisan effort to deal with the financial crisis wreaking havoc on Wall Street, always a good idea for any candidate after the primaries because it sounds good and costs nothing.

But Obama did not present any detailed proposal of his own for how to resolve the monetary situation that has roiled world markets in recent days.

Boy if it wasn’t in the LA Times I would think this article was satire just from the first sentence.

They haven’t had the time to load his “plan” into the teleprompter!

And Biden hasn't had time to plagiarize any.

So let me get this straight. According to Obama the Bush administration's failed policies lead to the financial crisis so the Obama plan is to wait until the Bush administration announces its plan before he formulates his plan.

He is either waiting to see if his best play is to agree or criticize the admin's plan or his is a total loser. Of course he could be both waiting and a loser /sarcasm

That campaign has successfully, through no doing of their own, gotten the public’s attention onto the economy. If it stays there we will lose.

The attention has to be on women’s equality and the war on terror, and Iraq. The economy is not a winning issue for McCain. The focus groups make this clear.

The sooner the markets are off the front page, the better.

Well we are in a world of hurt then, because this is not going of the front pages for a long time.

I disagree, partly. A month ago that would have been an absolute truth, Dems always win on kitchen table issues because they are the party of promises and giveaways. I think the dynamics have changed.

What the last several days have shown to the world is the leadership of McCain. While Obama and Biden have continued to gripe about Bush's failed policies, tax cuts leading to recession, and the patriotism of paying higher taxes McCain's campaign has rightfully put forth his prior opposition to Gramm-Leach-Bliley and his 2005 call for a change in the regulation of markets and his recognition of the pending failures of both Fannie and Freddie.

Obama and his fellow Dems are up to their neck in the Freddie and Fannie mess, supported Carter's CRA and the Clinton bastardization of it into a political boobdoggle. Throw in Barney Frank and Chris Dodd and this is an early Christmas gift to McCain if it is presenteed to the voters.

Sorry, guy. The polls have reversed. We’re down a few percent because Wall Street is on the front page. As long as that remains so, instead of Iraq and national security, we lose.

Neither presidential candidate has convinced a majority of voters that they know how to handle the country's growing economic crisis, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. Just 24% say it’s Very Likely that Barack Obama will bring the kind of change that is needed to Wall Street. Another 29% say he is Somewhat Likely to accomplish that goal while 42% say he is not likely to do so. For McCain, the numbers are similar. Just 25% say he is Very Likely to bring about the needed Wall Street reforms if elected. Another 25% say he is Somewhat Likely to do so while 44% say such accomplishments are not likely in a McCain administration. (Rasmussen 9/18)

We can agree to disagree for now but I am remaining optimistic.

Yup. I end my lectures on decision-making with that quote. I think some of the young 'uns are surprised the ole prof knows about Rush.
