Posted on 09/20/2008 7:28:50 AM PDT by Zakeet
As election day comes ever nearer, Democrats and open-government advocates are pressing for the GOP vice presidential candidate to release her tax filings, a campaign tradition that extends at least to the post-Watergate era.
Instead, Palin has to date declined to share the documents, becoming part of an ever-more-select historical group of candidates who waited until this late in a campaign year to release their tax filings.
Since 1976, every major-party presidential and vice-presidential candidate has provided that information to the public, according to an analysis by ABC News. Until Palin, only three hopefuls have held onto their tax returns this late:

The commenter is right. No MSM double standard here.
Oh and where is Hussein's birth certificate?
Where is obama’s birth certificate?
Hey, that’s what I was going to say.
This kind of stuff warms my heart because it is such small beer. I guess the “army of 30 lawyers” isn’t getting much up in Alaska, huh?
I appreciate your effort. Is that your list or are you just copying and pasting.
Am I reading this right? Not counting 1976, there have been 7 elections. And 3 times a candidate held their tax returns longer than today’s date. Hardly sounds like she is chartering a new path.
Sounds like ABC is now taking orders from Obama for their stories.
At least Hussein’s wife is open that she was let into colleg as an affirmative action accpetance. It’s clear that Hussein was, too, but he’s too vain to admit it.
Wow! She’s been a candidate for three weeks. She is sure dragging her feet!
And the McCain campaign grants “interviews” to these enemy agents. It makes no sense to treat your enemies the same as your friends, unless you are eager to lose.
What’s with ABC News anyway? Do they figure that CNN and PMSNBC aren’t trashing Palin enough, so ABC has to take the lead? Or is it that CNN and PMSNBC’s combined audience is less than that of Fox News, so ABC has to try to make the difference?
I never thought I would see the day when See-BS News would at least appear to be more fair and balanced than NBC or ABC, but that day has come.
The end times must surely be near...
How far into the primary campaign did it take Hillary to release hers?
This is an issue? Maybe to ABC. Anyone at ABC want their tax returns released?
Maybe ABC can get someone to hack into the IRS database. The media thinks that’s pretty cool.
Fresh off Charlie Gibson’s bizarre, unprofessional interview of Sarah, ABC (which has had years to ignore all manner of undisclosed information about Obama) now starts chasing inconsequential tax phantoms on Sarah. Have they even heard of Chris Dodd’s real financial scandal over there at ABC Marx Central?
Hillary didn’t release her tax records until on or around the 4th of April, 2008. Barack Obama released his in the last week of March, 2008, just a week before HRC released hers.
