Women's Group Condemns NOW Endorsement of Obama
The Washington Post ^ | September 20, 2008 | Garance Franke-Ruta

Posted on 09/20/2008 2:46:49 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

A group of Hillary Clinton supporters condemned the National Organization for Women's endorsement of Sens. Barack Obama and Joe Biden earlier this week.

"The New Agenda is concerned that NOW's recent endorsement of Barack Obama leaves many women in this country out in the cold," the nonpartisan nonprofit group said in a release Friday. "The endorsement seems all the more puzzling given the fact that the Republican Party is running its first female candidate for Vice-President, Gov. Sarah Palin, and the Green Party is fielding its first all-woman presidential ticket with Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente."

The New Agenda points out that since its 1966 founding, NOW has previously endorsed at the presidential level only four times -- and each time there was a woman on the ticket: Shirley Chisolm in the 1972 Democratic primary; Democrats Walter Mondale and Geraldine Ferraro for the 1984 general election; Carol Mosely Braun in the 2003 Democratic primary; and Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 2008 Democratic primary.

"We find it quite perplexing that NOW has chosen to endorse an all-male ticket after not endorsing recent candidates such as Gov. Bill Clinton, Sen. Al Gore, or Sen. John Kerry," said New Agenda co-founder Amy Siskind in the statement.

The New Agenda represents the coming together of more than 30 prominent Clinton supporters, many deeply involved in the bitter Democratic primary battle, into a new post-primary initiative to fight media sexism. The group, explained Siskind in an interview, evolved from the Together for Us group of Clinton supporters founded by, among others, Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild, who endorsed Obama rival Sen. John McCain this week.

NOW is obsessed with abortion, and Obama supports the right to abort a baby even after it’s been born.

According to former NOW President Gloria Steinem, Gov. Sarah Palin only shares a chromosome with Sen. Hillary Clinton, so she's disqualified from their endorsement.

Is anyone surprised? Hussein is less of a man than either Hillary Clinton or Gov. Palin.

I’ve got to tell you, if this women’s group takes off as a bipartisan organization, it will be a force to be reckoned with. NOW is so unappealing to normal women, even many Democrat women, obviously. But this Lady whatever de Rothschild is quite impressive and I get the feeling she is a good representation (minus the $$) of thinking women within the organization. I never thought I would join one of these women’s groups, but this one is amazing to me. They’ve certainly got my attention.

Strangest election ever...

Exposing lies has upset the apple cart of the far leftist agenda controlling what was once just opposing organizations with real concerns.

Commie strategies..infiltrate organizations and eventually take over an entire party of a country to bring it down.

NOW, Not About Women (NAW) never has been about women. Have you ever heard of Juanita Broaderick or Kathleen Wiley? Nothing perplexing or "quite" perplexing there.

I have to laugh when I see Obama’s ad that basically says he alone cares for women and McCain does not like women.
What I hand my lib friends is the data on how both men pay women and then ask who walks the walk?

NOW has managed to turn itself into a fringe group at best.

Yup. My sister worked with them for a while (she needed work). She hated it; said they were racists and so far left and anti-religion that my Christian, Dim sister couldn't take it. Patricia Ireland talked her into staying for a bit, but it didn't last. It was just too vile and bizarre a place for a normal leftist to work.

On top of that, my sister got holy heck from her black friends who had to tell her that NOW was no friend of the black woman and that she shouldn't work for them. I mean these people were hostile towards NOW like you wouldn't believe.
