MAHONEY CAMP FIRES BACK ON RESIDENCY(PB Post Censoring Comments)
PB Post ^ | September 22, 2008 | George Bennett

The campaign of Democratic U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney, who’s been under fire for registering to vote at a barn with an apartment rather than at his homesteaded primary residence, called Republican challenger Tom Rooney a hypocrite today upon learning that Rooney was registered to vote for five years at the Palm Beach Kennel Club dog track.

While Rooney was in law school and then in the Army in Texas and at West Point from 1998 to 2003, the address on his voter registration was the Kennel Club, which is owned by the Rooney family.

“He used his father’s office address as his mailing address to make it easier to forward his mail,” Rooney spokesman Jeff Ostermayer said. “This was an innocent mistake to include his voter registration and it was corrected. Tom is registered to vote, lives and takes his homestead exemption in the district, unlike Tim Mahoney.”

Voting at a barn? What a jackass.

Mahoney is my Representative. He and I have clashed on a couple of occasions regarding policy. He is nothing more than a party hack, trying to come off as a middle of the road type of guy. Actually, he backs Pelosi. He didn’t get my vote when Foley crashed and burned, and he won’t get my vote this time.

I cannot believe we are not favored to take back this GOP seat!! If we don’t get it now we never will. After the freshman term they become entrenched the folks get used to voting for them.

Sheesh!

I don’t understand how we cannot win this seat back. That’s a Republican-leaning district right??

Norm, even the WEAKEST Dem incumbent is funded to the hilt, and that helps enormously. Now perhaps you’ll understand my alarm when McCain says he’s not going to be bothered with having strong party coordination from the WH. That kind of tack will ensure Mahoney types, barring redistricting measures, will stay as long as they want in Republican leaning districts.

why do Florida Democrats feel that it isn’t important that they actually ARE Floridians? Maybe they could just suggest that Floridians vote for Congressmen from anywhere in the country which best represents them. Maybe they could ask Alec Baldwin to be their Congressman from Palm Beach since he shares their views even if he doesn’t share their zip codes.

It’s only slightly more absurd than what it going on now.
