Barack Obama Faith Tour Flops With Pro-Life Voters in Jerry Falwell's Backyard
Life News ^ | 9/22/08 | Steven Ertelt

Lynchburg, VA (LifeNews.com) -- For the new Barack Obama "faith tour" to have any success, it needs to be able to draw young and evangelical voters. Yet, at its first stop in the Virginia back yard of well-known pastor Jerry Falwell, just 15 people showed up for the event.

The Obama campaign has signed up evangelical author Donald Miller, Pepperdine University professor Doug Kmiec and former Indiana Congressman Tim Roemer, for the "Barack Obama: Faith, Family and Values Tour."

The trio made a stop at Liberty University, which is home to over 10,000 evangelical students from across the county and a conservative bastion in a state Obama is targeting heavily in this election.

Yet, his "faith tour" failed to resonate with people there.

Billy Valentine, director of Catholics for McCain, a grassroots organization of young Catholics not affiliated with the McCain campaign, told LifeNews.com he's not surprised the event flopped.

"Young Evangelicals and Catholics alike can't be deceived by Obama's empty rhetoric, and instead realize that an Obama administration would laugh in the face of the human rights issues they passionately fight for, such as the right to life," he said.

"The Obama 'faith event' might have been a bigger draw if they had advertised it as a circus show ... or perhaps a desperately hilarious comedy show," he said.

Valentine says that's because Obama's pro-abortions views -- "for infanticide, partial-birth abortion, and taxpayer-funded abortions" -- will never capture the support of evangelical and Catholics voters.

"Young Evangelicals and Catholics are savvy enough to do their homework on Obama and realize the consequences of him in the White House," Valentine said. "Obama has said the first thing he'd do as president is sign the 'Freedom of Choice Act' which would invalidate all the pro-life laws that we have fought so hard for."

"John McCain, on the other hand, has a stellar 24-year record on right to life issues that young Christians can be proud of," Valentine told LifeNews.com.

"Most importantly, he is committed to nominating pro-life justices to the Supreme Court with the guidance of pro-life champion, Senator Sam Brownback," he said.

The Obama faith tour is beginning this week and is similar to the evangelical outreach Obama attempted in Iowa an South Carolina during the Democratic primaries.

They don’t understand Evangelicals. They think we are as stupid as their average voters.

Good read, thanks.

Other than my 82 year old dad, the rest of my immediate family will vote Dim as always.

A few of my closer friends are ensconced in the MSM propaganda, and I have told them not to send me any crap political emails that sound like Kos, and in exchange i will refrain from sending them Mcpalin emails (though I just reneged and sent them Sarah’s speech for today that she didnt get to give, LOL)

;-)

Where does he go to Church now?

He attends the Chicago Southside Izzlumie Mosque in the Hood.

The Obama campaign has signed up evangelical author Donald Miller...

Evangelical?
You mean the highly overrated Blue Like Jazz author?
The folks in Lynchburg have probably never heard of the guy.
Shows you how out of touch with the real people these Oblama elites are.
What a joke.

“They started with a strong theological foundation “

When I went to Abilene Christian University, Pepperdine was recruiting Christians (students and professors alike) from other Christian schools — same tuition as ACU but at “glorious Pepperdine” kind of thing. They really wanted to be a Christian University, but were overrun with movie stars’ kids and other liberals that just wanted to go to school in Malibu and couldn’t get in anywhere else. It’s a real shame they caved so badly. Importing Christians....

No, they think smooth talk will put us in a trance.

I can picture the Green Witch from Narnia, throwing entrancement powder into the air, saying, “There is no sun up there. In fact, there is no sun.”

How can an agent of death have any appeal to pro-life voters [Christians]?

I found it revealing when Franklink Graham had the opportunity to speak with Barak Obama, Graham felt obliged to share the gospel with him. Graham must have discerned that Obama didn't know Jesus Christ as his lord and savior.

Some may think this presumptuous on Graham's part, but I thought it extremely wise, considering this man might be elected president of the United States. I've heard the objection, how can anyone know who is saved. Sometimes it's hard, but other times it is not: "For everyone who does evil, hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God." (John 3:20,21).

I have never met anyone of any denomination that wanted the kind of faith that Obama has. Obama was raised up in a godless home, and he tends to want to affiliate with that kind of people. He is drawn to criminals and to misfits. His life was already shaped when he came to the USA mainland.

“trio made a stop at Liberty University, which is home to over 10,000 evangelical students from across the county”- HA, good Liberty University is my Alma Mater. BO is SOOO out of line with the values expoused there, he has no business being even 100 feet near Liberty!

Brilliant campaign choice. Just says volumes about the insight & wisdom of BO.
Come to think of it, since he really needs to hold onto Pennsylvania, he ought to hop over to Grove City next.

Exclusive: Obama Campaign Faith Tour Starts Next Week

The Brody File is told that top faith surrogates will hit the trail for Obama. Some of those high profile figures include Former Indiana Congressman and pro-life Democrat Tim Roemer, Catholic legal scholar Doug Kmiec, and author Donald Miller. You can also expect a soon to be named Evangelical North Carolina (red state) Congressman to travel the country as well. All of these surrogates are well versed and comfortable talking faith and politics. This is clearly a sign by the Obama campaign that they plan to target red state and swing state moderates.

A campaign official tells me the tour is designed to feature the “strong faith and values” of both Barack Obama and running mate Joe Biden. http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/447440.aspx LOL!

"Barack Obama is someone who will lead for [LGBT voters], who will fight for them, fight for us." Remember that quote from Steve Hildebrand, Obama's deputy campaign manager? That sounded nice, I guess. How about what Obama said in his acceptance speech last month:

"I know there are differences on same-sex marriage, but surely we can agree that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters deserve to visit the person they love in the hospital and to live lives free of discrimination."

As Obama says on his website:

"Too often, the issue of LGBT rights is exploited by those seeking to divide us. But at its core, this issue is about who we are as Americans. It’s about whether this nation is going to live up to its founding promise of equality by treating all its citizens with dignity and respect."Douglas Kmiec will be stumping for Obama as part of this tour. Douglas Kmiec, the man who recently authored an op-ed piece for the San Francisco Chronicle in support of California's Proposition 8. Prop 8 is the initiative that will, if passed, ban same-sex marriage in the state. Or, as Kmiec puts it, "re-secures a millennia of tradition and common sense." Ha! Ha! Ha!!

I believe I read something about Kmiec who stated he was a conservative who served in Reagan and first Bush admin. but became turned off by Bush’s war policy.

So he can stump on a faith tour for Obama? This makes no sense.

once he’s safely elected

I'm sure that you didn't really mean that. We strongly hope before The Lord God Almighty that this will never happen!
