Affidavit: Southlake man keyed more than one Hummer
Fort Worth Star Telegram ^ | 9/23/2008 | Bill Miller

Posted on 09/23/2008 11:46:31 AM PDT by Menehune56

A self-confessed hostility toward people who drive Hummers, along with worries about family and finances, prompted a 72-year-old Southlake man to scratch paint on five of the sports utility vehicles, police said. (snip) '' 'I've got a mentally ill son and everything went together, my wife is diabetic and having problems, the stock market, and I just looked at the truck and I gashed it. 'I don't have a twin, I'm 72 years old and I'm awfully sorry.' ''

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Uncle Leo is busted for shoplifting in a book store and his defense is that he's elderly. I'm glad this bozo was caught so quickly - the surveillance video clearly identified him so it was just a matter of time. Probably an Obama supporter too.

Why is this old fart not in jail!? If it was a kid, he would be in the slammer. With all of this idiot’s problems, how was keying 5 Hummers going to help? Lock up the jerk!

He keys Hummers because:

(1) His wife has diabetes.

(2) His son is mentally ill.

(3) Hummers have a "large carbon footprint." He himself drives a gold BMW, which is the preferred choice of aboriginal peoples who live in harmony with nature and at one with the land.

(4) He is aware of this "carbon footprint" because he belongs to two different environmental groups.

(5) Hummer drivers take up two parking spaces sometimes.

(6) He is having trouble in the stock market - no word on whether this trouble is endangering his proud membership in the local country club. Not that country clubs and gold courses have any carbon footprint at all.

If he thought he had problems before, just wait until he has to pay his lawyers. Maybe they can get him off on the insanity plea, but it’s going to be very expensive no matter what.

If this is the guy they caught on the video, he did not look distraught, seemed purposeful in his movements and without hesitation walked up to the side of the vehicle, damaged it, and left. No angst, no hesitation, no waffling, no signs of anxiety were present, with the exception of a look to see if anyone was watching.

With that, my BS meter is pegged.

He knew what he was doing, and in a premeditated act, did it.

The guy is some sort of hotrod in the Homeowners association where he lives and is known for making a big deal over what color stain was put on a wooden fence and having the “wrong” kind of swing set in your back yard for the kids.

Sound like a Class A - Industrial Strength Azz&ole.

But police told him that the school's surveillance camera showed a man leaving the parking lot in a gold BMW, similar to the one he owned.

He drives a Bimmer???? He's more confused about his identity than Mr./Mrs. Garrison.

The vehicles, he complained, “have a big carbon footprint and they use four times as much gas as the rest of us,” according to the affidavit.

Jeppe told Fulgium that he is a member of two well-known environmental groups.”

If I were the judge....I might settle for sympathy. He’d have to pay for damages without any question. Then I’d require him to quit (in writing) from all environmental groups, and not be a member of any environmental group for three years. And finally, I’d require him to attend environmental rehab...where they would take the “Gore” out of him.

There is something sad and pathetic about a 72 year old man with the mental and emotional capacity of a 13 year old junior high student. It also makes you wonder who else has been the victim of this childish liberal tool over the past 60 years.

He told police that he used his car keys to scratch the paint, which he thought “would be harder,” according to the affidavit.”

So now he thinks Hummers have got cr@ppy paint. This dude must be some kind of keyin’ expert.

His keying of the Hummers is excused by the fact that he has "financial problems". He also says: "I walked up and saw the Hummer there, and I read about kids at Southlake Carroll driving $50,000 Hummers. I've got a mentally ill son and everything went together, my wife is diabetic and having problems, the stock market, and I just looked at the truck and I gashed it."

So we're supposed to feel sorry for this "little guy" teetering on the poverty line, who's taking out his frustration on wealthy people.

Umm... uhh... except for the fact that he was buying 5 pricey football tickets. And he drives a gold BMW. And he belongs to a country club!

Not quite the clearcut picture of class warfare that he painted, is it? More like a case of "Limousine Liberal" attacking "Humvee Conservative" (or if not a conservative, then at least a non-Greenie as evidenced by his "carbon footprint")

I wonder which two major environmental organizations he belongs to?

I wonder if they can also charge him with repeatedly lying to police officers? When they showed him the video, he claimed he had a "twin". When they proved his BMW was parked nearby, he confessed but said it was the only time he'd ever done that. When they found surveillance videos of his BMW parked near other vandalized Humvees, he confessed to those too. Isn't lying to police investigators a crime?

No, over expensive property damage. Keying a car is childish, and in this case with damage to 5 Hummers the damage is probably close to 5-figures.

The guy lives in a $410K house with 4 beds, 3 baths, 2,944 sq ft.

Multi-car garage, nice big lawn. He’s not one of those oppressed by capitalism, probably just feels guilty about having it all.

His zip code contributed about 18 times as much as the average zip code.
2008 Contributions: $724,306
Average Zip: $41,307

Most of the presidential $$$ went to McCain 66% to 33% with $200 each to Bob Barr and Ralph Nader.

He’s in a heavily Republican area so it must be a bitch for him and why he has to sneak around...
