NBC's "Today Show" interviews 'undecided' VA family (but turns out they are Dem operatives)
Today Show, NBC ^ | 9/24/08

Posted on 09/24/2008 7:56:17 AM PDT by SilvieWaldorfMD

NBC's "Today Show" this morning covered the battleground state of Virginia, and interviewed a family named "The Jansen's" from Leesburg, VA. Until recently, Ann Jansen and her husband Stacey (sp?) had been 'undecided' between Obama or McCain, but have now opted on voting for Obama.

What the piece fails to point out is that Ann Jansen is a bigtime Democratic campaign official/contributor in Loudoun County, VA, or as someone in the D.C. Radio & Television blog pointed out this morning:

"Today show gets duped!!! On the Today Show they highlighted a Leesburg, VA family who claimed to be a family crossing party lines to vote for Obama. Ann Janse has been an outspoken Democratic leader in Loudoun for many years!! Nice research NBC(DNC). (9/24/08)"

So there ya have it. Oh, and I also found out this on an "Ann Jansen from Leesburg, VA" in the Huffington Post. It's a $345 donation to the Obama campaign in March 2008:

Was the Today Show duped, or was the Today Show trying to dupe it’s viewers? NBC has a very BAD track record for duping it’s viewers.

How funny. You can see the agenda of the Today Show easily with this. They find a family that was supposedly undecided, and now they have decided to vote for Obama. They want to make middle America believe that people just like them are now deciding to vote for Obama. And convince us that this Virginia family will help swing Virginia to Obama.

Let’s not let the facts get in the way of the story they are trying to tell.

“The Today Show gets duped”, or the Today Show tries to dupe America? This looks more like the Dem party tactic of shoot now with lies for intended effect, retract lies later when no one cares.

This is why I say that Couric is laying a trap for Palin. She had years of practice at the Today show.

And the media idiots wonder why Palin has energized so many of us.

We are so angry at this crap going on constantly.

We see Palin as a way to get someone very qualified elected, and bypass the air headed, hard left media.

Good catch on the article, this stuff (media bias and deliberate manipulation) is everywhere and we don't catch all of it.

Anyone who thinks that the Today Show was duped, I’ve got a bridge to sell them.

I’m sure it went like this. The producer of the Today Show called the DNC, or more likely the Obama Campaign direct, and asked, “What can we do to help you get Obama’s poll numbers back up?”

And the Obama handler said, “Thanks for your help. I have just the family for you to interview. Here’s the details. . . .”

Or maybe it’s more likely that the Obama handler called the producer, and not the other way around. It’s simpler when you can just fax everyone from the White House Basement, the way the clintons did. But no doubt Obama has a similar operation somewhere in Chicago, staffed by Daley operatives.

Absolutely correct and its driving them crazy. Its like this ABC polling crap showing obumper 10 points ahead....its BS and people know its BS. The internet and radio have screwed things up royally for the liberal spin machine.

People know what Obama is about....they know about his racist background, they know hes a gun grabber, they know he's a rabid abortionist, that he wants to appease enemies of our country, that he cant form a cognizant thought without reading words from a teleprompter. They know the media and Hollywood are campaigning for him and against McCain. They also know the country is falling in love with Sarah Palin because she is actually one of us. They know all these things and they realize they are going to loose and loose big time which is why they attack with such vehemence. They know these things but just cant accept them because they still see themselves as some monolithic force that cant be denied. I fart in their general direction, their BS aint going to work this time but they will keep trying.

It doesn’t matter that NBC has lost all journalistic credibility or that they LIE to their viewers.

Their point they are trying to make is a sound one: News organizations should be allowed to trick voters and indoctrinate Americans with their Left Wing beliefs and even though they are prohibited they should be able to openly campaign for a Presidential candidate that is liberal and believes in big government and high taxes.

Stacey and Ann Jansen, along with their children, were featured as an example of a family supporting Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential bid. Ann Jansen said the Today Show correspondent asked her and her family several questions about why they were choosing to support Obama, as well as their opinion of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

She added that she thinks her family represents a lot of Virginia Obama supporters, as well as some military families who may be crossing party lines for the first time. Her husband, Stacey, served in the Air Force for 20 years and retired as a lieutenant colonel. He had also previously voted for President George W. Bush.

“Right now there’s many military people that are very unhappy with the direction of the country under the current administration,” Ann Jansen said. Her husband, “was definitely questioning that culture that’s been passed down. He started listening to Obama and was very impressed with many things.”

Ann Jansen also said she thinks she and her husband “represent many people who do not belong to a political party and try to pick the candidate that will best serve our country.”

“We’re just trying to do the best thing for our country right now,” she said. “We’re sharing what we went through and our decision-making process. I hope it helps [other families].”

They find a family that was supposedly undecided, and now they have decided to vote for Obama.

Today/NBC could have easily found two families that have recently decided to vote for each candidate, and let them say why, but the show conveniently opted to interview just one family. They made no effort whatsoever to be balanced. This is journalistic fraud on the highest level.

Absolutely.

In 2008, NOBODY does one of these "undecided" election pieces without first doing the homework because there have been too many embarrassments in recent years. But, there is only embarrassment when a mistake is made. This was not the idiotic "mistake" on the part of 'Today' that it appears to be on the surface - - this was a deliberate, calculated hit job.

What is disturbing about this case is that the 'Today' crew KNEW they would get caught in their brazen lie but they didn't care. Their objective was to throw this wet load in front of their viewers to maximize a political bump for their candidate. The shamelessness is breathtaking. The Democrats and their media allies have once again ratcheted campaign dishonesty up to a new level.

Then there was the NBC news story about "clear cut logging" using a picture of a naked mountain top...only it turned out to be a mountain after a forest fire.

After that, a story about "Our Filthy Waterways" using old, stock footage of a stream that had already been cleaned and restored to a pristine state. It goes on and on.

NPR did this back in ‘04. A series was to be broadcast each week showing how the ‘undecided’ person viewed the issues and made up his mind. It was ‘unofficially’ cancel due to the uproar when it turned out this guy was a big democratic supporter and hollywood producer even though NPR was telling us that his home state was Minn or Wis or some place like that. Also, he was a regular contributer to NPR so it wasn’t like they were duped.
