ABC News' Teddy Davis Reports: Florida Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings pointed to Sarah Palin on Wednesday to rally Jews to Obama.
"If Sarah Palin isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with Barack Obama, then you damn well had better pay attention," said Hastings. "Anybody toting guns and stripping moose don’t care too much about what they do with Jews and blacks. So, you just think this through."
Hastings, who is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, made his comments in Washington, D.C., while participating in a panel discussion sponsored by the National Jewish Democratic Council.

All of us from time to time go a bit overboard in our characterizations of the left, but really, the quote by Hastings is indicative of a sickness. There hatred and viciousness is deeply ingrained and I wonder just how an entire group of people became this way and how they cannot see how awful it makes them look?

Correcting this idiot:
“If Obama isn’t enough of a reason for you to get over whatever your problem is with McCain, then you damn well better pay attention,” Hastings should have said, “Anyone willing to talk without conditions to an Iranian leader whose desire it is to blow Israel off the map shows how little he really cares about Jews. So you just think this through.”
There now that makes more sense.

Alcee is nothing if not consistent. The questions he really begs day after day is why would an otherwise functioning adult invite him to sit on a panel, and why would an otherwise functioning adult vote for him?
Why should they? They get elected, and re-elected and re-elected and re-elected. They get favorable press. They go to all the best parties. Bottom line is, when you're rewarded for behavior, you're likely to continue that behavior.

I was scratching my head on this analogy myself. I’m still trying to figure out what toting a gun and skinning an animal has to do with blacks and jews, but I’m not scratching my head anymore. Palin strikes me as more genuine than anyone I’ve seen in politics in a long time.

Sadly you’re correct. One wonders what sort of a catastrophe would be necessary before the people in this country will wake up.
I continue to believer there is a clear majority of people who do care about the sort of behavior but the problem is the “silent majority” has yet to be sufficiently aroused. The problem is if they don’t wake up very soon it will be to late.
