Sarah Palin took questions from the media while at Ground Zero something I'd love to see her do more of. There are a number of people out there who say let Sarah go and do her thing, and I agree. Here's a portion of the transcript from Hotline:

She comes across very well in informal settings.

I agree, let Sarah be Sarah.

I think it’s great that she’s setting the tone for dealing with the media on her own terms. She’s well aware that any little misconstrued word or nuance will be twisted against her so why give them the opportunity?

Seems like plain spoken common sense... Let her do these informal things... She is not fazed by this. I hope Youtube has a video.

Perhaps she has finally sized up these media propagandists and finds that it isn’t much of a contest - certainly nothing she can’t handle.

I tell you I am coming to really admire this woman. She is still showing zest for the campaign and seems to me to be having fun. This despite the incredibly vile slander and libel that has been thrown at her incessantly from almost the moment she was announced as the VP candidate. She has, wisely I think, proceeded cautiously in the face of the overt hostility of the leftist propaganda machine that masquerades as the “news media”. I have not been particularly perturbed by the campaign holding her back a bit while she gets acclimated. Maybe we will start to see her operating on her own a bit more now. I hope so as I think she really is a winner and more exposure will only be a net positive to the campaign.

A: The trial for Sen Stevens started a couple of days ago. We'll see where that goes...

Governor Palin seems to have the respect of many uniformed state and city employees (fire dept, police, national guard, etc.). Sounds like someone who has the makings of a CIC.

Sarah handled that spontaneous questioning very well. She answered, then ended it when she wanted to. Her experience as Governor and Mayor have given her those skills.

She didn't have to say something petty like "Let me eat my waffles," as Obama did, to get the questions to end. She simply started to walk away without making a big deal of it, or insulting anyone. She has what Obama lacks most - tact and diplomacy. Good for her.

From another article on her visit to Ground Zero:

Palin's parents went to New York in January 2002 to help control the rat population in Staten Island's Fresh Kills landfill as part-time contract workers with the Agriculture Department, her mother, Sally Heath, told The Associated Press on Thursday.

Their task for two weeks was to control the rats so that they did not disturb the debris from the World Trade Center that was being brought there and searched by forensic teams for human remains.

Very impressive. Can't see any of Biden or Obama's family doing that (though his brother might have to deal with that in his one-room hut in Kenya). And Cindy McCain has performed humanitarian missions in poor countries in the world. As for Sarah, now its her turn to do D-Rat slaying!!

Give this about another hour until it gets a new spin;

"In an obvious slip-up, Gov. Sarah Palin escaped the watchful eye of John McCain's staff, answering reporters questions while the Senator was in Washington D.C. In previous meetings, Palin has been shielded from reporters by McCain staffers and not allowed to answer questions."

Hide and watch.

You make an excellent point here and it shows one of the big differences, I think, between legislators and executives. Executives are managers who don’t dilly-dally around with answers. Short and to the point is where they’re coming from. Legislators, on the other hand, are just the opposite, rambling on and on without saying much of anything.

Biden and Obama often talk without having their brains engaged, and get away with it. That doesn’t work for Governors.

As you can see, when it comes to the War on Terror, she gets it. She knows what's at stake. She needs to be allowed to take on the press more often like this.

Who is stopping her?

Also, the reason Sarah doesn’t get frazzled is because SHE IS THE MOTHER OF FIVE CHILDREN!!!!

When Obama talks about multi-tasking, HE DOESN’T HAVE A CLUE.

Her motherhood may just be HER BEST QUALIFIER.

Glad she did well.

I’ve just noticed headlines coming out about Sarah getting blasted by Katie Couric during their interview. Headlines don’t look too good. I’m leaving now for work, but will catch up later tonight when I get home.

Hopefully, it’s just the media’s anti-Palin attitude. I’m hoping she comes across well tonight (think it’s tonight?).

Well, first, I agree with your take on the peso bill. Nevertheless, Palin seems to have her share of media following her wherever she goes. There seems to be ample opportunity for give and take. As far as I can see she isn't reticent. In addition, she manages to speak her mind without embarrassing herself, her ticket, her party or her country whenever she opens her mouth. Heck's bells, neither end of the opposing ticket can make this claim.

I'm willing to wager if Oprah invited her aboard, she would go, although I don't know why.

No, I haven't yet seen Sarah Palin sporting a muzzle, and she has so far proven a wary and wise politician.

Right. Here is a little observation. Have you ever noticed that when RATS are interviewed they bobble their heads, yak at a high speed, voice raised, hands move, wiggle, and only sh@@ come out of their mouths. And the sh@@ goes on and on and on. And it is the same talking points. I just hit the mute button and laugh at the scene. Bobble head RATS.

Simple: when McCain loses in November, he goes back to the Senate, and still wants to be invited to the Kennedy Compound. Sarah could ruin the party for him, you know...

She wasn’t asked anything about ‘TrooperGate’ because only the most cross-eyed, rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth leftist still thinks that is a ‘scandal’ (think Democrat Underachievers, KOS children, HuffPost, Keith Olderdung, et al). Everyone else knows the truth.
