Sen Graham: "There was never any agreement on a bailout bill - Dems lied"
Fox News | 9/25/08

Posted on 09/25/2008 7:19:21 PM PDT by pabianice

Lindsay Graham on Fox Now. Says there was never any agreement on bailout bill between dems and Repubs. Best nugget: Dems have inserted provision into their bill to give several billion (with a "b") dollars to ACORN. ACORN is probably the most corrupt organized crime organization involved in voting fraud and intimidation.

There is no bill. Rep. Barney Frank was on MSNBC wailing about Repub treachery and bad-mouting all the Repubs who met today with Bush. Chris Dodd said, "I'm going home" and walked out.

My sense is that the Dems tried to bully McCain into supporting the Dem bill. When he refused, they had a tantrum.

“The Dems are screaming bloody murder to get this passed STAT because the more time passes,”

A friend set me straight on this.

The reason Bush pushed so fast and cried the sky is falling down is that the only way the bill could pass was with the time pressure on Congress tomorrow.

Probably coordinated with Schumer, Dodd and Frank a dog and pony show starting last Friday to stampede Congress.

Both sides asked for too much. On Bush’s side,no oversight, no criminal liability, just give Paulson billions to do as he pleased.

Yep.....I just heard on Fox news that the reason the bill unraveled is because the Dims wanted ACORN to receive 20% of the bailout monies.

There is a need for a bill, but the Republicans now have a chance with McCain to do something that is better for the taxpayers.

Here is the outline of the Republican plan; essentially insurance for MBS and a loosening of regulations and taxes to encourage private recapitalization of financials. Have no idea about feasibility; that is, if the plan will peacefully promote the unwinding of $60 trillion (notional value) of derivatives without crashing the world economy.

The Democrats have the votes to pass anything they wish through the House and the Senate (absent the two-thirds rule). They don't need agreement from McCain.

> The reason Bush pushed so fast and cried the sky is falling down is that the only way the bill could pass was with the time pressure on Congress tomorrow.

Is it possible Bush just dangled a plum that he knew the Dems would jump at, and would repel the Republican House? In addition to doing something, rather than nothing (i.e., getting the ball rolling), it allies the RATs with the hated Bush, thus improving Mac’s maverick status.

It also exposes the RATs as gutless wonders, when they claim that (though they want the socialist bill desperately) they won’t vote for it unless the Republicans do (for fear of voter backlash). Is that leading, or playing the standard CYA game of Washington?

Hard to believe that the Democrats thought that giving a fifth of the hundreds of billions to ACORN would fly with Republicans. Sounds like Obama/Reid/Pelosi wanted the proposed legislation to be rejected in order to fix the blame on McCain.

I should have been clearer.

Bush plotted this because of the time of Congressional ADJOURNMENT tomorrow. He created an exagerated sense of crisis, like he did with the Immigration stunts.

The Dems Schumer, etc., might have been with hm from the begnning, or grabbed the “plum.” They needed a cover story, the usual one, is that they are doing this for poor people.
The truth is, they are the party of wall street money houses.

Things didn’t go well in the beginning of the week, so Bush pulled out his usual tricks, like in the immigrration matter, send Cheney, meet personally at the white house, go on TV and scare the people.

In this interpretation, there is no crisis more or less than a few weeks ago. Bush was making a play that the time pressure of adjournment and the need to get back home to campaign would railroad this quickly through. The more I think of it, the more I think this is what Bush was doing to get his ugly bill through.

As usual, he asked for too much and so did the Democrats.

Is there more than one “ACORN”? Perhaps the one they’re talking about is a housing organization, rather than the community organizing organization we’re all too familiar with?
