Lost amid the wall-to-wall coverage of the collapse on Wall Street has been the re-emergence of former President Bill Clinton in the public eye.
The former commander-in-chief has largely stayed out of the political arena following his wife's loss in the Democratic primary, emerging briefly to offer a classic stem winder in support of Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention, but generally avoiding the limelight.
But, the kickoff of his annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York City this week has sparked a series of high-profile television interviews for the former president -- including an extended chat with the King himself, Larry King, last night -- in which the former president has come off, at times, as decidedly off the Democratic talking points.
Among the gems he offered up during his sitdown with King:
On experience, Hillary Rodham Clinton and John McCain: "The experience issue, at least in the Democratic primary, was virtually irrelevant to people . . . maybe prior public service and hard effort, making hard decisions, maybe doesn't amount to anything."
On his wife's (and his own) support for Obama: "If you look at what Hillary has done, she has already done more for him, notwithstanding the unusual circumstances of this primary, than any runner up has in a nominating process in 40 years."
On his role in the campaign: "I just don't believe that, you know, getting up here and hyperventilating about Governor Palin or Senator McCain, for that matter, is a productive use of a former president's time, and is not a vote-getter."
On the Palin pick: "I think that she and her husband and their kids come cross gutsy, spirited and real. I think it's best to say that Senator McCain looks like he knew what he was doing.

Bubba Corleone is striking back.
There will be Democrats waking up with horse heads all over the country this week.
Has anybody seen John Edwards lately? He didn't go fishing did he??
Payback for South Carolina. Bill Clinton never forgets or forgives.
I love it...the RATS tearing into each other!! WONDERFUL!! BUBBA=snake!
Get’ em Bubba! WTF this world is upside down! LOL
Freeps rooting for Clinton. Who knew!?
Baracus: “Et tu, Bubbe.”
I think he is starting to triangulate again, this time for Hill’s benefit. Running to the center has always served him well.
Musta missed that...but then, I am so fast on the mute button that I am proud to say I have NEVER heard a complete sentence from the cowardly draftdodger..............
LOL. I have FOX on now. Greta just said we should go to Gretawire.com to vote on who we think Bill Clinton’s voting for.
McCain won by a landslide
Results from Greta’s poll: 66% think Bill Clinton will vote for McCain. LOL!
In this corner wearing Red/White and Blue it’s the HORNEY HICK!!!!!
In the other corner, wearing screaming Red it’s THE DEAN SCREAM!!!
LET’S GET READY TO RUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBLLLLLLLEEEEEE!!!!
I can’t believe it but I’m starting to like Bill Clinton; at least when he tells the truth.
Bubba, as we all know, has always been about me. Not me, me, you understand, but about Bubba me, that is about he me, meaning not about me who is writing this, but about him me!
I thought MSM, in the interest of keeping their half black boy afloat, would choose to ignore the subtle, nuanced Bubba endorsements of McCain, but since they aren’t (ignoring he subtle, nuanced Bubba endorsements of McCain), it’s all for good, because the sheeple are gaining something of moral support or a plain excuse now from their hero and guru when and if they decide to dump the Magic Negro.
Bubba keeps this up the MSM will make him a non person
Which translates to "not much".
Classic example of Clintonspeak.
I can just imagine the thoughts running through Clinton's head. One of is probably something like: "How do you like THIS for 'ridin' dirty', hmm?"
LOL - right on!
Re: the original post - ...”an extended chat with the King himself, Larry King, last night”
the “King” - barf. Ironic the scheduling of Bill, though - the very next night after LK’s disgusting, fawning “exclusive” with Mahmoud Ahmedinejad (for the full hour). You could see in MA’s eyes, the wheels turning - thinking “what an idiot this guy is, what idiots the Americans are - giving me parties, receptions, big interviews, world platforms - while I plan the total destruction of them and their allies.”
Sorry, I digress. About Bill C. - I’m loving all his appearances/interviews this week - praising McCain/Palin. For once I’m grateful for his smooth talking and charisma - his hatred of Obama is so obvious, but so diplomatic :-)))
Sorry to say he got my vote twice.....i know...shame on me....but this week, i finally got my money’s worth from W.J.ClintBat
I'm not sure about that. They have so much invested in the Clintons I don't know that they dare flip on them. I do love that the MSM put itelf between a rock and a hard place.
Yuck! Did I just say that? LOL
Ironic the scheduling of Bill, though - the very next night after LKs disgusting, fawning exclusive with Mahmoud Ahmedinejad
Imagine having to go to work and sit there listening to both Clinton and Ahmedinijad.
Not sure which is worse.
Hey Obama .. didn’t anyone ever tell you that:
“You don’t tug on Superman’s cape .. you don’t spit in the wind .. and you don’t mess around with Bill!”
“Clinton and Ahmedinijad. Not sure which is worse.”
Wellllllll....a no-brainer. Clinton’s been coming out a LOT for McCain lately. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, in this case. (ok, maybe that’s pushing it a little bit:-))
Plus, Ahmedinejad wants to kill us. All of us.
