Sure Biden is a joke, but will Hillary Clinton take the bait?
The Collins Report ^ | September 26th, 2008 | Kevin “Coach” Collins

Posted on 09/26/2008 5:15:45 AM PDT by jmaroneps37

Each day seems to bring news confirming that Joe Biden is a net minus for his ticket and talk of Hillary Clinton’s riding in to save the “Democrat’s year” gets louder.

Will she? Since everything she does is always about her, should she?

In June Barack Obama had the support of just 58% of former Hillary Clinton supporters and that has not changed. Worse still, the number who will vote for John McCain has grown seven points to 28%.

The AP reports Obama’ s Democratic base support is alarmingly low at 74%.

In 2000 Al Gore got 90%, in 2004 John Kerry got 89%, and both lost. No national polls show Obama getting higher than 86% and a Pew poll shows him getting just 70% of his own voters.

The same survey reports McCain is drawing 87% of Republican support. Some recent polls have shown him at 91%, but none have shown him below 87%.

Of course these numbers could be wiped away and Obama could win on sheer numbers of rank and file Democrats. The self identification of voters as Democrats over Republicans gives him a real edge.

The pollsters admit they keep track of how to contact the same voters over and over again. This suggests the numbers can be cooked.

Can Hillary bet her future on these numbers, can she rely on them?

Then, there is the Bradley factor. If the numbers were “clean” and untainted by race, Hillary could jump back in as Joe Biden’s replacement, secure about where she would land, but nothing’s sure in this year’s numbers.

Can Clinton be sure she can magically “cure” Obama’s Bradley factor?

I think she’s ready to start campaigning for 2012 on Nov. 5th. Her theme will be “I told you so.” Who could argue against her logic?

The attacks from Bill Clinton on Obama seem to be heating up. They never do anything without a reason.

Hillary has no interest.

And Bill isn’t a hater like the far lefties.

He actually has made pretty good sense in recent interviews.

I’m not sure what that reason would be other than to sabotage Obama. After seeing Bill this week and watching the tepid (at best) support HRC has given Obama, I see absolutely no way that she joins his ticket. If he loses, she can run in 2012 and be a senate leader until then. As VP... she is a footnote in history.

Nope! The Clintons are taking the Obama campaign apart. Its obvious to every one they want him to lose and to lose big so no one in the Democratic Party ever pulls a double cross on them again.

The reason he has made pretty good sense in recent interviews is because for once in his life he is speaking the truth.

But that is only because it happens to co-incide with getting a republican elected this time, in order to help his wife.

You know that things are getting really weird when Slick begins to make sense.

What about Hussein's big show of having Caroline Kennedy & gang choose his VP ?

Why, then, do so many polls show 0bama even or ahead of McCain?

“You know that things are getting really weird when Slick begins to make sense.”

Is there a writer in Hollywood that could have come up with this script?

They never do anything without a reason.

They are realists; this is all about 2012, not 2008.. But first, McCain has to win this year.

The one thing that is bothering me is the GOP support for McCain. I was assuming that at least 92% of the GOP were going for McCain (AP poll last weekend), yet I have seen two polls that put GOP support for McCain at around 88%.

The Survey USA NC poll had 88% of the GOP going for McCain, yet in 2004 exit data had 96% of GOP voting for Bush.

Am I worryng myself needlessly.

They always underplay GOP numbers. The point Obama is down with his own base, down with independents and my guess is he'll pick up no more than 10% of the cross party vote. If you look beneath the MSM polls, its obvious he is in big trouble. Obama does not not have the look of a winner on him.

McCain will have 91% to 92% of Republicans supporting him on elections day which is the same number that President Bush got in 2004. Obama will get 82% to 85% of the democrats vote and that is why he is going to lose the elections.

The only way Obama can win if there is no bailout of some sort by the end of this week. I think McCain-House Republicans should craft a compromise bill for the current financial crisis. Cut the Paulsen bailout money by half and then adopt the others thing that McCain-House Republicans are advocating.

Not surprising. There are still people on this forum who publicly state they’d rather have Obama than McCain.

With Bill’s recent comments regarding helping Obama (or reluctance to help in a meaningful way) I don’t think we have to worry about Hillary replacing Biden. I’m tending to agree with those speculating that Hillary will keep her powder dry for the next 40 days to use for a 2012 bid.

Yes. SUSA had a 13% Dem Over sample in their lastest PA Poll.

They are doing outliers, but closer to election day they will adjust for their credibility.

RAS oversampled NC again for the DEMS, NC has many conservative DEMS who will never vote for Obama.

The people on this forum who are against McCain constitute a very tiny minority among the Republican voters but they are very vocal and they sound much bigger than their real volume. A drum generates a lot of noise because it is empty.

No clue, but just my guess is that McCain with Palin will get the same support from the GOP that Bush got. It may not be as “hot,” but it will be there. Now, if he comes out on the right side of the bailout, he can exceed what Bush got.

“Now, if he comes out on the right side of the bailout, he can exceed what Bush got.”

Except, if there’s a market meltdown - the media will try to pin it on McCain.

"What about Hussein's big show of having Caroline Kennedy & gang choose his VP ?"

The Kennedys have always been vastly overrated. The only reason they're held high high regard by the libs is that two of them were assassinated. If they hadn't been shot, their status would have come back down to earth a long time ago.

she’s not joining this ticket. It’s in her best interest to NOT be aligned with Obama and see him falter. Equally with prominent advisors to her campaign jumping ship to McCain, there is obviously a coordinated effort to undermine Obama as a leader.

Obviously Bill’s praise and support of McCain, Sarah and Todd Palin means he is back in the job of Statesman as opposed to political backer.

I've always thought exactly the same thing about the Kennedy's.

It seems like Hussein would have eat some crow after going through his whole song and dance. It just shows that he is inexperienced and unfit. Of course the MSM wouldn't call him on this, or even mention it.

No way she takes it on. Nothing in it for her.

If they win, Obama says “Thank you very much. Take a seat on the next plane to a foreign VIP funeral”

Meanwhile he goes for another term while marginalizing her. Can’t have her upstaging the President.

If they lose as a team,, she will get some of the blame and her aura as a Democrat winner will be tarnished.

She hopes OBama loses and opens the way for her run in 2012.
