David Letterman kept up his verbal assault on John McCain, commiserating with Paris Hilton and saying he felt like an "ugly date" because the GOP presidential candidate backed out of an appearance on the "Late Show."
David Letterman described Paris Hilton as John McCain's first choice for a running mate.
The late-night CBS comedian was upset Wednesday when McCain canceled an appearance to deal with the economic crisis.
After backing out of the Letterman show, McCain sat for an interview with Katie Couric, then didn't leave New York until Thursday, further angering Letterman.
At first, Letterman said, he felt like a "patriot" to let McCain off.
"Now I'm feeling like an ugly date," Letterman said. "I feel used. I feel cheap. I feel sullied."
****************
"Here's how it works: You don't come to see me? You don't come to see me? Well, we might not see you on Inauguration Day," Letterman said.

He is just another a$$ wipe.
The irrelevant has-been needs to suck it up.
David who? I watched Oregon State beat USC. It was real. Not made up by some commie writers.
Keep talking you a**holes it so your true colors for everyone to see.
I was going to watch because a man I had talked to recently, the deputy mayor of Wasilla, was going to be reading from the top ten list, but as soon as I heard the jackass making fun of McCain, I shut it off and didn’t go back.
Dave, you are an ugly date. Sorry.
4 words: Who cares except CNN?
another famous person who has his head in his arse
There is nothing unbelievable or unexpected about this type of behavior. Letterman is a leftist.
Letterman is a “comedian” and inconsequential. Thicken your skin.
Letterman is behaving much the same way as he did when he was snubbed by Oprah. Is he really that needy?
These so called celebrities getting on my last nerve.

What an incredible ego.
He seemed really whiny.
I would wish that McCain and Palin would not go on his show, the View, OPPra, or do interviews with the MSM anchors..screw them. They get big pay for ratings..and why should the GOP help their ratings. The hate us. Not just disagree, but hate.
MSNBC is covering it as news...
Letterman, face it you are just that unimportant. You are nothing more than a court jester. Real men have real work to do and it doesn’t involve you.
Our country is in an economic crisis you dimwit. Appearing on your show is not a priority.
David Letterman used to be funny.
Shows what a piece of garbage he really is. I have not watched his show for over a decade but read about how he would not even tell O’Reilly he wanted America to “win” in Iraq. How low can you go. And to think when I was a big fan in the 1980s I would defend Dave against people who said he was obnoxious!
McCain even called him personally to apologize. Dave refers to McCain as a hero. Yet this stupid pettiness goes on. I’m glad he is #3 in the ratings.
Letterman’s 15 minutes have been up for so long - he was funny like back in the 80s or maybe early 90s. He should get out - nobody watches, nobody cares.
Don’t remind me. I said about a week ago that the only way USC could lose was to beat itself. They accomplished that. Couldn’t believe they couldn’t tackle a 5’7” 170 lb running back. Every year USC starts out with the best talent and somewhere along the way they manage to lose to an opponent that they should dominate. Sanchez sure didn’t impress.
Now the late night hosts consider themselves important.
Letterman is a drama queen.
All his ranting will cause stress that couuld contribute to clogging up his bypasses. He may “Tim Russert” on us at any time.
Appearing on your show is not a priority. And appearing at an event for Bill Clinton's legacy-polishing institute was a priority?
“MSNBC is covering it as news...”
Whining leftist drama queens have to cover each other’s back.
he has the lowest ratings of his career
the old tired lame entertainer has to try something
McCain first act as POTUS should be a full pardon of Letterman’s stalker.
Now there is a real mother drug addled kids and husband who is this person again?
Very strange watching all these talking head idiots unravel. Who threw water on them?
Democrats everywhere know they chose poorly. What else can they do now?
Letterman is still alive?..........What about that Leno guy?...............
If the shoe fits, Davie
Letterman deserves an Emmy ... for having the best toupee in the world.
He didn’t make the mistake most toupee wearers make of getting a “full” head of phony hair. It looks natural, like the real hair of a normal 50-something guy, complete with a smallish bald spot.
Of course outside of this one saving grace he’s a bag of excrement particularly over the McCain matter. An ordinary, decent, intelligent person would recognize that McC had to concentrate (confer with staff, think) about the emergency and preparing for an appearance on a talk show would interfere with all of that. But Dave is an egocentric cry baby and a leftwinger.
And yet McCain chose Letterman’s show to announce he was running for the presidency. He’s been on the show any number of times. He obviously thought that appearing on Letterman’s show was useful. But he’s kind of burned his bridges with Letterman now.

Apparently appearing on Katie Couric's was. At the same time he was supposed to be appearing on Letterman, he was in a nearby studio with Couric doing an interview with her.
Get Over It, Big City Liberals Hate All Republicans.
Apparently appearing on Katie Couric's was. At the same time he was supposed to be appearing on Letterman, he was in a nearby studio with Couric doing an interview with her.And if he had left for Washington right after that, his urgency to fix the economy might seem credible, but instead he stayed in New York and gave a speech for Bill Clinton's organization the next morning.
Now I’m feeling like an ugly date,” Letterman said. “I feel used. I feel cheap. I feel sullied.”
If the shoe fits wear it, you whining asshat liberal!
LOL!
3 words: who f’n cares?
I’d rather watch a pile of dog pooh dry out in the hot sun before I’d ever watch Letterboy.
Letterman sullied his underpants a long time ago. On Election Day, no one will see him.
Well put yourself in Letterman's shoes. How would you feel to be stood up for the likes of Katie Couric?
But I agree that Letterman is milking this for all it's worth and at McCain's expense. And should McCain ever be foolish enough to sound out Letterman about possibly appearing again, I predict that Dave will say 'no' and then spend a show or two crowing about it.
Comedian?? He's about as funny as a roll of "used" toilet paper!!! Wadda PUTZ!!!
P.S. ...also a HAS-BEEN!!!
And the speech to Clinton's Global Initiative on Thursday? Where did that fit in with the suspended campaign?
McCain could have handled it better. He lied to get out of his commitment to Letterman and now Letterman is getting even. That's all there is to it. Petty, I know. But there it is.
Yeah...Davey never did grow up...
