Did Katie Couric Lie About What Kissinger Said After Palin Interview?
One might think so after Kissinger supports McCain

Posted on 09/27/2008 2:30:44 AM PDT by HD1200

Ms. Couric reminded the governor that she recently met with former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who supports direct diplomacy with both countries. “Are you saying Henry Kissinger is naïve?” Ms. Couric asked. Ms. Palin replied, “I’ve never heard Henry Kissinger say, ‘Yeah, I’ll meet with these leaders without preconditions being met.’ ”

Henry Kissinger believes Barack Obama misstated his views on diplomacy with US adversaries and is not happy about being mischaracterized. He says: "Senator McCain is right. I would not recommend the next President of the United States engage in talks with Iran at the Presidential level. My views on this issue are entirely compatible with the views of my friend Senator John McCain. We do not agree on everything, but we do agree that any negotiations with Iran must be geared to reality."

After the interview, Ms. Couric faced the camera and added a postscript. “Incidentally, we confirmed Henry Kissinger’s position following our interview,” she said, explaining that Mr. Kissinger supports talks “without preconditions.”

The above sounds to me like Couric took liberties in explaining to her audience just what it was she asked Kissinger and just what his reponse really was.

Kissinger’s position will be discussed by the media in the next days due to debates, will be a great point to point out that Couric misstated his position too.

Guess CBS takes their talking points from Obama’s campaign too as if we didn’t know that. Since Couric did all she could to make Palin look bad, that is a great find.

Did Katie Couric Lie About What Kissinger Said After Palin Interview?

Were Katie's lips moving?

If so, that would have to be a "yes."

I saw part of that program that had the former Secretaries of State. I don’t recall any of them recommending engaging in talks at the Presidential level. Some(including Kissinger, I think) did suggest meetings with Iran at the Secretary of State level.

Why the rhetorical question in this headline? It’s a matter of record that Couric lied since Kissenger has said he never said what she has implied.

There was a part where McCain was rubbing Obamas childish nose in talking to Iran conditionally, and why you must have conditions. Something might have been said about Kissinger.?.

Obama countered with why he wouldn't have conditions, and that even Kissinger agreed to talk with Iran without preconditions.

McCain countered saying that he's known Henry Kissenger for 35 years, and would never negotiate with Iran without certain conditions, and the same held true with China and other countries. Obama continued "tough guy" posturing, while McCain talked, saying things like "yeah, mmm-hhmmm, sure, we'll see, yeah right" . Totally rude.

I wanted to beat the smugness right out of the stick with ears. I hate smugness like that, ESPECIALLY from somebody with nothing to back it up!

I thought Obama was rude throughout the debate, and glad that McCain after the first 10-15 minutes started firing back, and wouldn't concede to Obama.

McCain rattled him a couple of times left him disoriented looking for a way out and all he could do was the “tough guy” routine. He looked weak instead.

I asked on a thread last night how Henry Kissinger had the nerve to disagree with what The One says he believes.

Can he possibly have nerve enough to disagee with both The One and The Perky One?

Nothing Mz Perky does or says should surprise anyone. What is surprising is why the heck would Palin so much as return a call from Couric much do an interview with her. For that matter, why would McCain ever subject himself to Letterman? They know they’re going to get fried on all these shows but yet they keep showing up.

Thats what you get with a thug, with nothing to truly back him up besides brash and swagger.

He's the little kid who got his a$$ kicked at school. Propped up by Chicago politics. Now, because of that, he thinks he's a tough guy. He's a punk.

What would Obama do on the world stage? Ahmahwhackjob is a murdering phsychopath, who wants to conquer the world in the name of Allah, and bring forth the 12th Imam. And is tied VERY closely with Russia.

Putin IS a genuine badass. Being "ex" KGB, w/ strong Russian Mafia ties, and the backing of the Russian military and all of Russia, makes him a legit badass.

Do you want a street thug confronting a phsychopath or genuine badass?

Henry is too wrapped up in himself to ever say what the anointed one says he said. Cute Katie needs another colonscopy so she will be able to speak without lying, or she could become a female version of Dan rather. That is, lying just for the fun of seeing how far you can go before getting caught! As far as Letterman goes, I find him to be another has-been that never was. In short, Letterman sucks, and I hope he keeps badmouthing McCain and Palin as he makes folks mad. Need any more reasons why he is always lagging in the ratings?

Question: Didn’t see the Couric / Palin interview, but this morning on Fox & Friends Juan Williams referenced it as an interview that Palin completely bombed, that her confidence appeared to be shaken and her debate with Biden could be her undoing. Prior to the debate I’ve heard little about this interview, let alone that Palin had trouble with it. What’s the deal?

Oh, it was ignored. He needs to do an ad spot exposing the media bias of Couric and company. Henry Kissinger is still, in the final analysis, a very well respected man to both parties. He’s like the 700lb gorilla of politics, he sits where he wants.
