09.28.08 Gallup: O-50 M-42 Obama +8
(Excerpt) Read more at gallup.com ...
I just cannot believe people will elect a dumbhead for President
And Zogby has the tied.
Polls.........
Wow, that is an impressive and decisive lead. So much for all the contorted arguments invented by people here. I think the bailout has hurt McCain, perhaps irreparably.
you were right.
Is this that “registered voters” crap, again?
The political education of America is terrible. I see that even in people I know are otherwise very smart. Obama promises more to the people, and that’s all a lot of them need to know. Sadly.
Pray for a miracle.
weekend poll, still not out of the economic crisis, gallup always has bigger fluctuations, so dont go all wobbly.
I think it’s Barry’s lunch time.
The Dems are in full flight retreat on the bailout, as we type.
Brilliant move by McCain!
It's not the bailout. It's the financial crisis. That lays on the doorstep of Bush and the Republicans. And it may not be fixable in a month.
If I had my tin hat handy I would accuse the Dems of orchestrating a September Surprise.
The United States has officially jumped the shark. Although there is a very large Obama number from Thursday that will drop off tomorrow, this number looks like Obama still won Saturday significantly (around 47-40).
it aint over yet. remember: mccain was always the underdog and a miracle he’s still around
The democrats are pinning this mess on Republicans and its working.
damn..
Republicans in general, and McCain in particlar, are not hitting Obama hard enough on who he is, who his friends are, and what he wants to give give give to the American people.
I think I need to go lay down..maybe till after the election.
Well, now I’m getting worried.
Actually, I really like the Heritage Foundation’s Leadership for America campaign. I don’t know if it’ll work, but it’s the right idea. We’re reaching the point where conservatives will not be able to win elections even if we all get behind our candidates. Our problem is more basic than that. We need to reteach Americans about the philosophical principles that this nation was built on, and why they are the best.
I the last 4 days it’s went from:
Thur: Even
Fri: O +3
Sat: O +5
Sun: O +8
It’s not the actual poll number that should concern everyone, it’s the direction and magnitude of the move.
The problem here is that people blame the politicians that have been in power for this mess.
Rational or not, McCain is part of the Washington establishment so he gets the blame.
People are in an UGLY mood. They want CHANGE and are not rational enough to discern good change from bad change.
people are like sheep. And dumb people will vote for whoever tells them what they want to hear. If I were to say that God is going to avenge the dead of abortion on a national level, anyone gonna listen? Historically, no. But I still have to warn them. It is their choice, and therefore, the judgment and consequences are justified.
and Bush was responsible for encouraging homeownership as a key part of “compassionate conservatism.” I hate this.
“Is this that registered voters crap, again?”
Yes, it’s registered voters. And Gallup weights their results, but unlike Rasmussen, Gallup does not publish how they manipulate the data.
Wizbang analysis of Gallup poll from a week ago:
“So, put it all together, and in the past week Obama has stayed steady or lost support in every party identification group, yet Gallup says his overall support went up four points. And McCain stayed steady or went up in every party identification group, yet we are supposed to accept the claim that his overall support went down by four points? Anyone have an answer for how that is even possible?
Well, actually I do. There is one, and only one, possible way that such a thing can happen mathematically. And that way, is that Gallup made major changes to the political affiliation weighting from the last week to now. Gallup has significantly increased the proportional weight of Democrat response and reduced the weight of Republican response. Bear in mind that this assumes that people change the foundation of their political opinion like a showgirl changes costumes, which has no scientific basis or historical support whatsoever.”
Wed: McCain 46, Obama 44%
Thurs: McCain 39%, Obama 56%
Fri: McCain 47%, Obama 47%
If true, then today's Gallup still has Thursday's OUTLIER included in the 3 day rolling average: Thurs, Fri, Saturday. Tomorrow's Gallup sould be more interesting without Thursday's huge outlier.
Neither can I. I’m just at a loss for words. This is the effect of the MSM on the public.
They have successfully covered up Obama’s marxist past, totally glossed over Rev. Wright anti-Americanism and racism and have the people brainwashed into believing that this whole Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac mess is the fault of the Republicans.
Obama is like teflon. We’re going to lose this election.
Obambi may just be the next president, but he will always be Chairman Mao to me.
I refuse to call this Marxist president.
The Dems and Paulson (another Dem) have known this economic showdown was coming for nearly a year. The bill was concocted by them for just when they decided it should hit. They couldn't stop Palin so they pulled the trigger in Sept.
Time for reality.
Bad economic news is always good for the Democrat
Well, Rasmussen and Gallup both showed Obama pulling away immediately after McCain suspended his campaign (in which he also pulled his ads).
As for the debate, the Sheeple may just be so pissed off with Republicans that all Obama had to do come ahead is not piss all over himself.
At this point, the media’s narrative will turn to Obama’s “big lead”. Any attack by McCain will be framed as “desperation.”
Still not over by a long shot.
i mean come on...just right before an election. this is so stupid
The LIBS break left and the CONS break right has remained steady.
Since we cannot see the sample breakdown we need to adjust for oversampling of RATS by the Rass % of 6-9 pts.
McCain needs to stress that without SECURITY (a position he is well favored) there will be no ECONOMY ( a poition that he trails in)
No responsible polling agency puts out a “registered voters” poll this late in the game unless it's trying to deflate one side and buoy the other.
And Obama and Biden aren't?
This just tells me that the people living in this country aren’t as smart as they think they are.
It looks like the “experience” angle isn’t the right tactic for either the Republicans or the Democrats - it simply hasn’t worked against either Obama or Palin. The McCain campaign hasn’t effectively tied Obama and the Democrats to the subprime mortgage crisis and somehow this Democratic mess is now associated in the minds of the public with the Republicans - incredible.
Well, I can see that this bogus, “registered voters” poll is having precisely the effect desired!
Well, they’re not smart at all. They’ll get what they deserve if Zero wins, but unfortunately, we’ll get what they deserve too. He’s going to destroy this country if he gets the chance.
The trend has been all Obama the last 2 weeks. McCain was up about 3 points 2 weeks ago. even a week ago, and now down 6-8 points. Athough I don’t think Obama truly has a 6-8 point lead, or will carry that through Nov, it is not great right now.
It is hard to believe when the dems were 80% responsible for this financial crisis, that McCain is getting the blame. Bush and McCain have been calling for reform of the financial system since 2002. They have sponsored hearings and bills. The democrats have said for 8 years, there is no crisis. This is all clearly documented. Yet Bush/McCain get the blame.
We have got to get a bailout bill signed to calm the markets. That will relieve some of the fear Americans have right now. Also, it will allow McCain and the 527’s to go on attack to show who really caused this mess. Until the financial news if off the radar screen, McCain cannot get his messages out.
Keep the faith everyone. We still have 5 weeks to go, and that is a long time in politics. I remember in 2000 around 7:40pm on election night, thinking it was over when they called Florida for Gore. But things have a way of working out. In my heart, I just cannot believe that America will elect the most liberal inexperienced politician of the last 100 years.
Nobama had to meet a certain threshold, but most here are too partisan to see he met it. After the last 8 years, that bar has been lowered. The economy sucks, and a lot of people don't like this war.
Nobama spoke well without a teleprompter. He articulated the liberal view pretty well, and unless a miracle happens, I think people are going to vote for that liberal view.
We need to be out canvassing our neighborhoods and manning the phones instead of talking here.
In my case, I'm in a very red state, so I'm emailing everyone I know who lives in blue states making the very best case I can make. I'm going to see if I can work phone banks to other states.
If this is true then we will have elected a Marxist for president and we can be expected to be carted off to the gulags and reeducation camps. Won’t be long until we are made into soap and our skin into lampshades. This is the Third Reich all over again right here in Obama’s New America. Fascist to the core.
You can put whatever spin you want on it,,,,
but it has been an absolutely incredible shift to Hussein.
Sorry but I not buying the outlier theory anymore. I have been hearing for a week here now, that the 2 day ago outlier would drop off. However, Obama is continuing to grow his lead.
I hope you are joking. Even a registered voter lead that is expanding every day is worrisome. The general direction of all polls points to a blowout victory by the Obama machine.
Exactly. Independents were looking only at 'body language'--and NOT at the issues or what was spoken.
That is precisely why I think these 'so-called' debates are a joke--because the gulf between the parties has never been bigger....
and who does better at 'performance art'--should have very little to do with who is elected. Sad. Very sad.
They don't call the GOP the Stupid Party for nothing.
STOP IT!!!
This “registerd voters” poll is worse than meaningless!
McCain will do at least 8% better among “likely voters”.
Get a grip, you’re being played!
Jeesh!!
Which is precisely why Barr may get 5% of the vote--which could be devastating to McCain.
