Barack Obama Under Fire for Very Negative Radio Ads on McCain on Abortion

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Barack Obama is coming under fire for a nasty, negative set of radio ads attacking presidential candidate John McCain. The radio ad barrage, which focuses on abortion and stem cell research, is so negative and so inaccurate that even some of Obama's own supporters are questioning it.

LifeNews.com has extensively profiled the radio ads Obama's campaign has aired over the last month in battleground states.

The ads begin as early as the Republican nomination in St. Paul at the beginning of August.

The first Obama ad went after McCain on abortion with claims that women’s lives and health will be at risk should Roe be overturned. The ad didn't mention that Obama supports unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reason.

In addition, a misleading stem cell research ad bashed McCain and falsely accused him of voting against it -- and it went so far that even mainstream media outlets called the Obama campaign on the carpet.

According to a Politico report Tuesday, which called the ads "scathing and inflammatory," the ads turned off even the most liberal voters of the Obama bastion of Boulder, Colorado.

Bret Saunders, who hosts the morning show at the adult rock station KBCO, told the web site he had to spend time answering questions from listeners who said they were irritated with the harshly negative Obama ads.

“There was a perception with some listeners that they're hearing a lot of Obama ads on KBCO because KBCO is in the tank for Obama,” he said. “I told them that we have a legal obligation to sell political advertising to whoever wants to buy it.”

McCain aide Michael Goldfarb told Politico that “there are a lot of really alarming things voters don’t know about Barack Obama, the least of which is that he’s running patently false radio and TV ads across the country.”

The McCain camp has responded with its own ads but admitted the Obama campaign is drastically outspending McCain's on the radio ads.

But Obama spokesman Bill Burton defended the ads from criticism.

“That sort of attack doesn’t mean much coming from one of the most negative and dishonest campaigns anyone can remember, but the assertion is ridiculous,” he claimed.

The pro-life movement has also gotten into the thick of the battle, but early ads have involved television campaigns in Ohio and New Mexico.

One ad features a late-term abortion survivor who takes Obama to task for his votes against a bill to care for survivors of such abortions when he was in the Illinois legislature.

The new group, BornAliveTruth.org is a joint effort between Gianna Jessen, who survived a saline abortion decades ago, and pro-life blogger Jill Stanek.

"I'm a survivor, as are many others...but if Barack Obama had his way, I wouldn't be here," Jessen says in the ad.

"Four times, Barack Obama voted to oppose a law to protect babies left to die after a failed abortion. Senator Obama, please support born alive infant protections. I'm living proof these babies have a right to live," Jessen adds.

If Obama is hitting so hard on these ads, he must be acutely aware that we Americans view pro-life issues as the number one issue.

I think his handlers are probably aware of it, but Obama is too arrogant and/or stupid to comprehend it.

Never have so many trusted so much in so little by way of accomplishments, character, and history.

I cannot believe this election is going forward without a majority of Americans knowing who Bill Ayers is and how Barak Obama launched his political career with a fund raiser at this communist terrorist’s house.

What I am acutely aware of is the FACT that MORE THAN TEN THOUSAND female Americans will die in abortuaries THIS WEEK.

I don't dispute your words, just wondering where you learned that 10,000 women will die from an abortion in one week. Can you verify that, as I would like to offer it as proof to my liberal, left-wing Obama supporters.

But, certainly just as important are the thousands of unborn babies will most certainly die as a result of the abortions! Can you provide figures on that also?

The numbers are truly amazing, aren’t they?

In the past century, ONE BILLION HUMAN BEINGS have been murdered in abortuaries worldwide. That is MORE than ALL of the wars, genocides, famines and murders in the history of the world COMBINED.

More Americans are murdered abortuaries EVERY DAY than were murdered on September 11, 2001.

More Americans will be killed in abortuaries THIS YEAR than have been killed in EVERY WAR America has fought in COMBINED.

Can you please provide a source for that?

Unless there is something special about THIS WEEK...at that rate of 10k per week comes out to 520,000 annually. But another site says something else:

Estimates of the annual number of deaths due to abortion complications range from 155,000 to 204,000 women worldwide.

http://www.holysmoke.org/fem/fem0230.htm

This site: http://www.infoforhealth.org/pr/l10/l10table.shtml#table_2

Says that world wide deaths due to unsafe abortion (I'm inferring they mean only the women) is 70,000.

Since these sites seem to benefit from exaggerating maternal mortality due to abortion, and their numbers are far lower than yours, I have to conclude that your info is inaccurate.

Just trying to have accurate facts put out since bad facts don't help anyone but the opposition.

I was speaking of the number of females who are aborted each week.

There are approximately 1.3 MILLION abortions in America each year:
Abortion in the United States: Statistics and Trends

This works out to just under 25,000 per week and statistically at least half of these are female (actually more due to sex selection: Congressional Bill Targeting Sex-Selection Abortions in US is Much Needed. So, my estimate of 10,000 is actually incorrect, the actual number is at least 12,000.

Sounds like someone in Missouri needs to do a “citizen’s arrest” and book Barry on whatever phony baloney charges they have for political lying in that state.

Almost twelve years of republican presidents, including twelve years with the republicans controlling congress, and it wasn’t overturned.

You forgot eight years of Reagan, for a total of TWENTY YEARS of allegedly pro-life Republican presidents. I don't disbelieve in their pro-life feelings, but they sure haven't gotten much done.

I think it is misleading to call an aborted baby a woman.

We need FIVE Supreme Court justices to overturn Roe v. Wade. When Reagan took office there were TWO (Rehnquist and Byron White). We now have FOUR and possibly Kennedy (if it’s the “right” case).

Reagan was pro-life and GWB is too, GHWB was marginal at best. But DON’T make the mistake of thinking that this is not winnable.

As do I, that's why I have specifically said FEMALE.

If you were President how would you go about overturning Roe v. Wade faced with a liberal Supreme Court and so many gutless slimeballs in Congress???

I wouldn’t have HAD a liberal Supreme Court, because O’Connor and Souter wouldn’t have been on it. I’m not a single-issue voter, but that’s the first hurdle anyone’s got to get over with me, because it’s key to their whole worldview.
