John Kerry whopper on FNS - no mandates in Obama health care plan
Federalist Journal ^ | Oct 1, 2008 | Staff

John Kerry, appearing this morning on Fox News Sunday, told a huge whopper . . . :

WALLACE: Senator Kerry . . . I want to address something that McCain went after Obama on, and that is proposing more than $800 billion in new spending.

Doesn't Obama have a government solution to every problem?

KERRY: No, absolutely not. If you look at his health care plan, which John McCain mischaracterized, calling it a government plan, you will see a plan that is entirely a market-based, market-oriented, free-choice plan, nobody mandated to do anything. So the answer is no, that's not true.

From the Obama website:

Require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions so all Americans regardless of their health status or history can get comprehensive benefits at fair and stable premiums.

Prevent insurers from overcharging doctors for their malpractice insurance and invest in proven strategies to reduce preventable medical errors.

Make employer contributions more fair by requiring large employers that do not offer coverage or make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of their employees health care.

Establish a National Health Insurance Exchange with a range of private insurance options as well as a new public plan based on benefits available to members of Congress that will allow individuals and small businesses to buy affordable health coverage.

The Obama-Biden plan will promote public health. It will require coverage of preventive services, including cancer screenings, and increase state and local preparedness for terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

A Commitment to Fiscal Responsibility: Barack Obama will pay for his $50 - $65 billion health care reform effort by rolling back the Bush tax cuts for Americans earning more than $250,000 per year and

What if no Americans are able to earn more than 250,000 per year?

Obambi himself has said that this financial crisis “may” cause him to delay most of his promised spending spree, including tax cuts.

So upon what is he campaigning? He’s got nothing.

He has no mandates on individual adults is what Kerry means. Obtaining health coverage is not compulsory.

Obama's health plan has never made any sense to me -- it's just another fairy tale. The idea that insurance companies will cover all w/ affordable premiums based on letting tax cuts for > $250K expire doesn't pass the smell test. Obama's health plan sounds like the junk faxes I get: You can't be turned down for coverage! Call 1-800-blah-blah.

Well in my opinion if he gets in. He will infest the goverment with marxists. An example of a new Obama real estate plan. Fairness above all. I think would be some thing like this. EQUAL OPPORTUNITY HOUSING... On a 100,000 dollar home. The new Fair Obama Mortgage.. If you earn 100,000 You pay 100,000. If you earn 10,000 you pay 10,000. What could be more fair than that?

Reading the latest magazine from the VFW I see he is promising increased benefits to every veteran. Even free health care for veterans for non service related health issues. Having no fee for service for those veterans with high incomes.

When asked how he would pay for this he stated that all the money would come from bringing the troops home from Iraq and using those funds.

Interesting little LIE he told the veterans. Told them he is against changing Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.

Oh, really????????

Hello ,I wonder what the millions of Social security Recepients would think if they get a note in their benefit envelope ,no check this month no cash ,its a question of fairness

Obama made that same comment to Maria Bartiromo. Didn’t care if revenues increased, it was a matter of fairness to redistribute that money.

Yes, and he will blame the fact that the country cannot afford his magnificent plans on the Republicans. And that means he will need at least a second term to accomplish anything, right?

Obama: “Require insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions so all Americans regardless of their health status or history can get comprehensive benefits at fair and stable premiums.”

Interesting. Already a significant percentage of “uninsured” Americans are people that are healthy, fit, typically young, who make a purely rational economic decision that buying health insurance is a bad bet — that it will cost them $4K/yr, and the likelihood that they will get seriously sick is near nil.

Now Obama is saying, ‘you can buy health insurance AFTER you get sick.’ Really!?? So why would I buy insurance NOW then?? Of course I’ll just wait.

Which shows the inanity of lumping all the “uninsured” together in some sort of fake misery index.

Ah, yes. The staple of the Rat political pantheon.

All the Rat followers bow down to the god of Good Intentions.

No amount of abject failure matters.

If Obambi said that about DADT, somebody better archive that right now, because that is going to be an issue-—and should be, sooner rather than later.

Easiest thing to do is live in a world of theory. When those who try to implement policies based on that theory meet failure, fault goes to those working that field. A lot of leftist theory begins with the premise that human nature doesn't exist. Since it doesn't exist, people can & should be shaped to make their theoretical models work.

No matter how much bread they throw out to us or how bloody the circuses they've set up to entertain & instill a deep sense of fear, we always manage to be human enough to screw up changing into the perfect model that proves the theory.

Those smart guys can't & don't fail, because they have no control over our failure to meet their expectations. The god of Good Intentions is supposed to lead us to the Promised Land, so any who don't follow it have to be stupid, blind or evil.
