She SHOULD NOT step aside...this is a golden opportunity to have a little fun while DEMONSTRATING to the entire world the lack of ethics in the journalistic community. Palin should congratualate her on her Obama Coronation Booklet and ask for an autographed copy tonight.

THEN, she should say, "I'm really curious about the book, could I ask you some questions about it after the debate?"

How can Ifill refuse?

Then, with cameras rolling, she cancross-examine Ifill on the subjects of Obama and ACORN, CAC, William Ayers* etc.

*You see where Obama's partner in education "reform" Ayers was asked about his educational philosophy and summed it up as "Bring the Revolution home! Kill your parents!"

“OK lets suppose Ms. Ifill recuses herself from the debate moderator role. How is her replacement, also guaranteed to be from the MSM, going to be any different?”

No, unless it is someone who is NOT FROM PBS and comes up with different questions. Surely Ifill gave Biden the questions a few weeks ago so he could study up!

The simplest and strongest argument is that Ms. Ifill has an obvious financial stake in the outcome of the debate. She will make much more money if Obama is the first black President come January when her book hits the shelves.

Actually, this will be in Palin’s advantage.
“If” Ifell doesn’t reveal at the beginning of the debate that she has a book coming out in January about Hussein;
then Palin should “congratulate” Ifell on her book.
AND, any “gotcha” questions that Ifell asks of Palin will be exposed for what they are.

It’s a “win-win” situation for Palin.

I say let her moderate. But call he on the attempt...then grill her like a spitted hog, and grill Biden at the same time.

Kinda funny. The Kos Kids and DUmmies also think she should step down.

True, she should be able to handle anything Ifill should ask.

The point is the double standard and arrogance of her moderating. If you had a right-leaning moderator with a book coming out about McCain on INAUGURATION day, they MSM would not stop harping, Olberman and Matthews heads would explode and you’d have all the squishy right wing pundits urging for a new moderator.

wikipedia.com

“On October 5, 2004, she moderated the vice presidential debate between Dick Cheney and John Edwards. In the debate when Cheney asked for more than 30 seconds to react to a particular statement, Ifill told him “Well, that’s all you’ve got”. Ifill said that though it was not her intent, Democratic partisans were delighted with her because she was seen as being “snippy” to Cheney.[6]”

Wow, imagine that, a PBS black lady in the tank for Obama, concealing her financial motive for trying to bias the debate.

Not sure who is more pathetic this biased liar or the McCain camp for agreeing to such a hostile woman.

I tried to post this but I am new to this and couldn’t get it to post. Maybe you can spread the word ... The Exec. Director of the Debates Commission is Janet Brown; her email is jb@debates.org. I just sent this email: Dear Ms. Brown:

As an American citizen who expects to be able to trust those in leadership in our country, I was appalled to find that the moderator (supposedly a neutral person) chosen for the only VP debate in this election was Gwen Ifil. Neutral she is definitely not. Since her book on Obama is scheduled for release on January 20 of 2009, she definitely has a financial interest in the outcome of this election. How can she be considered a “neutral party?”

In fact, in her coverage of Sarah Palin’s speech after the Republican National Convention, she exhibited extreme contempt for Ms. Palin, who gave a tremendous speech. It is my understanding that PBS had to field a number of complaints about Ms. Ifil’s coverage and her demeanor when speaking about Ms. Palin.

You may consider Ms. Ifil a professional who can set aside her personal beliefs and be a fair moderator for this debate. I don’t think that I or a great number of Americans can agree with you on that.

I congratulate Mr. Lehr, the moderator of the Presidential debate, on his performance, which did not overtly seem to favor either candidate. I submit that he would have been a much better choice for this debate!

Also, the Commission’s phone number is 202-872-1020.

Thanks.

“She will probably have a book signing durning the ‘’debate’. My question is why hasn’t the McCain team said SOMETHING”

Best more is let this all play out in the news. Then McCain/Palin campaign comes out and says that they knew about Ifill (so maybe Greta’s source isn’t so good) and decided that Ms Ifill would be fair. We are also very confident that Sarah will answer all the questions asked of her so the voters can clearly see that she will be an excellent Vice President.

If you call the Commission’s phone number at 202-872-1020, you will get a message that the v-mail box is full. So do what I did. Follow the instructions to go to the directory and leave a message for anyone you want.

Exactly. Does the McCain campaign want to lose this election? How in the world is the woman going to be an objective moderator? She has a financial stake in this thing.
Something has to be done. This just can't happen.

The naked truth of MSM double standard is open for full exposure at this debate.. Properly executed, Ifill will be gracefully trumped and check-mated. It if my most fervent hope that Sarah can rise above this drama like a good barracuda should.

Several blogs are saying, “As long as she announces her bias of authoring a book at the beginning of the debate.” Perhaps that was her strategy all along...this will be one of the most watched television events of the year, and she gets to announce her new book free of charge...publicity your can’t buy. She wins either way!
