MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBRC-TV MyFoxAL.com) -- Alabama's two U.S. Senators don't seem overly optimistic about a revived bailout plan that is scheduled for a vote Wednesday night.
A spokesman for Alabama Senator Richard Shelby tells FOX6 News he's reviewing the final language for the bill.
Shelby has been a vocal opponent of the President's bailout plan.
A spokeswoman in Senator Jeff Sessions office says as it stood Wednesday morning Sessions would likely vote against the bill.
Congressional leaders from both parties said they are hopeful that a $700 billion financial industry bailout that derailed in the House is back on track for quick passage, thanks partly to a provision increasing insurance for people's deposits
The plan for Wednesday night's vote was set after leaders agreed to add tax breaks for businesses and the middle class and increase deposit insurance in an attempt to revive the legislation rejected by the House.

What does “not hopeful” mean coming from an opponent of the bill? Not hopeful it will pass or not hopeful it won’t pass?
Just called Grassley’s office and it took me five minutes to get off of hold. From the tone of the person who took the call and from what I gathered it sounded like the lines were being flooded. I hope my Senator does the right thing to cancel out Harkin’s vote.
No, he was not a judicial appointee. He is a great conservative though
I just called Sen. Allard of Colorado and voiced my opinion; Senator Salazar's line is continually busy, but I'll keep trying.
I live in Alabama and was totally disgusted that only one Alabama Republican representative (Aderholt) voted no on the house bailout bill. If Senators Shelby and Sessions vote for any bill that sticks the taxpayer for bailing out the idiot Wall St. bunch, then you may see the death of the Republican Party in Alabama. I’m still watching to see what McCain does. If he votes for a bailout bill using taxpayer money, then he will certainly loose the election.

Umm.... I don’t think that only 2 senators from Alabama agree this paln reeks, but 75-80% of America does as well. Sorry for getting off the subject here, but I need a questioned answered from fellow Freepers. I have been registered for over a year now, I have close to 400 post and 2 threads I posted up. (1 of them was a vanity, sorry guys) I feel it is time I do my part in contributing to the site, but is it safe to use a credit card on here? Has anyone had any problems? The reason I asked, I recently had my identity stolen (6 months ago) and it is still a painful process. Please don’t beat me up over the question, I am just concerned now more than ever!
I just finished sending e-mails and faxes to MCcain and Kyl to vote NO!!! Also added to Mc Cains “ Fight For US”!! They are both my senators. By the way, Sessions is great.
Thanks for that link. I had not been able to get through to my Senators all morning via email or phone. That link explained the problem and gave alternative ways to contact the Senators, via email.

Yeah, I'm proud of our senators (and Aderholt), but I don't get the actions of the house. I called my rep (Bachus) yesterday and expressed the hope that he would get it right next time.
Another surprise was to find that Bachus is pretty high up on the list of Fannie Mae political contribution recipients. Hopefully that's nothing more than coincidence. However, Shelby's also pretty high on the list, and his opposition has been fierce and consistent.
My question to Shelby and Sessions would be, “How can you sit on a committee that determines regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and yet take money from them?” This is a total conflict of interest. If we followed the money in Congress, they’d all have to be hanged. (Except Ron Paul) /s
