Eduardo Verastegui Talks about Obama, Saving Babies Outside L.A. Abortion Clinic
LifeSiteNews ^ | 10/1/08 | Anita Crane

Los Angeles, October 1, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Saturday, September 27, the Mexican superstar of Latin America, Eduardo Verastegui, and several of his friends joined the 40 Days for Life prayer campaign outside Family Planning Associates, an abortion business at 601 S. Westmoreland Avenue. He went there for two reasons: to help mothers and their unborn children, and warn people about the number-one abortion celebrity, Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL).

Verastegui is cofounder of L.A.-based Metanoia Films and lead actor in the company's first feature film, Bella (http://www.amazon.com/Bella-Eduardo-Ver%C3%A1stegui/dp/B0014...), which premiered in American movie theaters last October.

Until November 2, citizens of 179 cities in 47 of the United States and the District of Columbia are participating in 40 Days for Life (http://www.40daysforlife.com), peacefully praying outside abortion locations to end the holocaust. In the Canadian cities of Ottawa and Halifax, pro-lifers are publicly praying as well.

Armed with a rosary, Miraculous Medals and DVD copies of his latest production, Dura Realidad (Hard Truth), Verastegui and his friends approached seven women as they stood in line to enter the aforementioned abortion office.

John Anthony Hernandez, coordinator of 40 Days for Life Los Angeles, witnessed Verastegui's talent and skill. He said, "The words just seemed to flow from Eduardo and his companions who showed them the pro-life film, Dura Realidad, and directed the mothers to the LAPS [Los Angeles Pregnancy Services] center for help. He also handed everyone a Miraculous Medal and told them the beautiful story behind the medal and God's great love for us."

Verastegui told the women that he did not judge them. He said he knew they were suffering and he cared about them, but they were not alone. Verastegui warned that abortion causes sterility, and breast and uterine cancers. He said, "Now you're making that decision, so let me just share with you what they don't share with you inside. For example, I was at an abortion clinic that in the last three years more than 12 women - young ladies - have died. They don't tell you that."

Verastegui explained, "I was counting all the women lined up for an abortion. It was all Latinas and African Americans. And I said all I want to do here is to share with you a video on the hard truth about what is going on inside [that place]. And ya know what? By the grace of God, four babies were saved this morning."

At http://www.DuraRealidad.com, Verastegui appeals to his people in Spanish. He inquires, "Did you know that minority children are being aborted at more than double rate of white children?" He tells why abortionists target Hispanics. Then, introducing the segment showing abortion victims, Verastegui says, "Perhaps you question whether it is necessary to show a video like this, and my answer is the same that they give in schools about showing movies of the Nazi holocaust … [Teachers] show them because the Nazi holocaust represents a terrible evil that words alone cannot describe." In conclusion, Verastegui discusses how Barack Obama's "inhuman" policies would endanger everyone if Obama is elected president.

CNA TV provided English subtitles and posted the video on YouTube.com, minus the victims segment. Soon Verastegui will release an English-language version of this video.

He said, "Most of the registered Latinos who are voting are voting for Obama. Why is that? He doesn't represent our values: respect for life, traditional marriage or even immigration reform.

"Americans and people around the world need to know about Obama," Verastegui continued. "If he is not going to defend the most innocent, then who is he going to defend? If someone is not willing to take a risk for the most innocent, which is babies, what can I expect from that person? He will not defend me. He will not defend you. That's what inspired me to put something together.

"I want people to know the truth about Obama," said Verastegui. "And I pray to God and I don't judge anyone, but there is objective truth on this issue: It is wrong and we need to make sure that everyone knows [abortion] is not a subjective thing. It's never okay to kill an innocent person."

As Americans say, Verastegui puts his money where his mouth is. His foundation Manto de Guadalupe builds homes for the poor in Latin America, and helps mothers in crisis there and in the U.S. Verastegui is alarmed that nine abortion centers exist along just one mile of L.A., so he will open a pregnancy resource center among them.

He said, "You wanna hear something really, really funny? Here's what happened at the end. All the nurses from the clinic - some were African Americans, some were Latinas - came outside." The next thing Eduardo Verastegui knew, eight nurses wanted someone to take pictures of them with him. Instead, he gave each nurse a Miraculous Medal and his DVD. They didn't want to watch his DVD, but promised to do so simply because he requested it. He told them, "I'm going to be here next Saturday and we'll take a picture next Saturday." Then the security guard confronted him, asking, "What are you doing here?" Verastegui countered, "What are you doing here, my friend?"

After our conversation, Verastegui left for Bella premiers in Costa Rica, Guatemala and Panama. Bella is also scheduled for release in Brazil, Hong Kong and Spain.

On Saturday, October 4, look for Eduardo Verastegui with the Los Angeles contingent of 40 Days for Life.

I am convinced that all 2-year-olds are pro-life. I formed that conclusion working a pro-life booth at a local county fair.

As soon as a 2-year-old's eyes spotted one of the fetal models on the table, he or she would reach out with both arms with an impassioned plea to touch "the babies." One little girl giggled when a model of a 30-week-old unborn baby was placed in her hands.....

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- One of the leading pro-abortion groups in the nation has a new web site ad it is running on news web sites in battleground states. However, the NARAL commercial may backfire and energize pro-life voters behind John McCain and Sarah Palin because it highlights their pro-life views.

The ad isn't what political observers might expect from NARAL -- with something akin to the ads the Obama campaign aired saying McCain is too extreme and featuring little in the way of the candidates' own words.......

Do you think Arnold Schwarzenegger wants to euthanize people NOW because he has a huge budget shortfall that includes NURSES? If there are less patients, Ca will need less nurses. (no killing of old film stars though).

Alternatively, he may be concerned that the exodus from California may expand as more deathbots head to Oregon and Washington where death is openly embraced (or it will be in Washington after election day).

Lauren Richardson and this!

Biden time...

As Joe wonders what hit him from one side, he need merely look over his shoulder and see round two bracketing him in the Great State of Delaware. I hope Lauren is able to smile at this one. We closed our thread on Lauren since she has now come out of danger.

.........................................

Christine O'Donnell is running for election against Sen. Joseph Biden.

In his debate with Gov. Sarah Palin on Thursday, Joe Biden told the American public that “all you have to do is go down Union Street with me in Wilmington, or go to Katie’s Restaurant” to get a sense of how people feel about the economy.

But Christine O’Donnell has some news she’d like to tell Biden: Katie’s Restaurant has been closed for a while.

It’s unlikely, however, that O’Donnell will get the opportunity to inform him. As the woman running against Biden, the one competing against him in his largely overlooked Senate reelection bid in Delaware, she’s still waiting for her chance to stand on stage with him.

~Snip~

O’Donnell has, however, made enough noise to gain notice from Haley Barbour, the governor of Mississippi and former chairman of the Republican National Committee, who has endorsed her, along with astronaut Buzz Aldrin and David Horowitz, the 1960s radical turned conservative activist. Preceding O'Donnell's career in elected politics was a career in conservative-issue advocacy and a stint at the RNC.

Before this election got under way, O’Donnell was doing advocacy work on a Terri Schiavo-like right-to-life case in Delaware, involving a 23-year-old woman named Lauren Richardson....................

Little raven about this album, nothing to Sheryl about...

This person with whom I would not shake hands has graced the ears of those who don't have them with a new noise. But I wish Lance well. I am not really sure what "Life Partner" is but somebody could clue her in on a term she has not yet understood, "marriage". She could even Google it.

....................................

As Lance Armstrong pedaled to another Tour de France victory, Sheryl Crow found herself in an unfamiliar position: on the sidelines.

~Snip~

"Just spending our days together was one of the things that have been really missing from my life, the experience of serving somebody else and having them serve you. I found I enjoy being in a partnership, part of a team, as a unit," she says.

While she calls Armstrong the inspiration of "Wildflower,"the disc is not the sunny, dreamy album one might expect from someone reveling in a new love.

"Even though the record feels like a bunch of love songs, most of those records are based on the conversations that Lance and I would have about religion, and Terri Schiavo and about our government. They're based on how we felt about what kind of world we felt we were leaving his children," she says of the divorced father of three.

Few of the songs on the album are radio friendly, and Crow is unsure if "Wildflower" will meet the success of her previous discs.........

Sarah Palin "gets it". So do we.

Thread by wagglebee.

Sarah Palin gets it. That's why she and husband Todd chose not to abort baby Trig in spite of his alleged imperfections. To some, he is a "useless eater." He will never win the snow machine race his father is famous for or be mayor or governor of anything, but Sarah and Todd know the value of his life in ways that can never be explained to a man like Barack Obama. A baby like Trig is a precious life. And the baby carried by his sister is not punishment....

The very personal and often uncharitable criticism of Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin and her family evident in recent media coverage, and the lack of support from many feminist and child advocacy groups, may have a relationship to the collective grief, pain and guilt from personal involvement in the abortion of an unborn child.

In an article published last year on CBC News, Mallick railed against the Vatican's refusal to support abortion for African women, saying the Church has "no pity" for African women whom the Church thinks "don't matter as much as a clump of cells." Wagglebee has a good discussion thread on this topic...

.......................................

The prelate clarifies: "This reasoning is sound only if other issues carry the same moral weight as abortion does, such as in the case of euthanasia and destruction of embryos for research purposes. Health care, education, economic security, immigration and taxes are very important concerns. […] However, the solutions to problems in these areas do not usually involve a rejection of the sanctity of human life in the way that abortion does."

As proof of the point, Bishop Martino said, "Consider this: The finest health and education systems, the fairest immigration laws and the soundest economy do nothing for the child who never sees the light of day. It is a tragic irony that 'pro-choice' candidates have come to support homicide -- the gravest injustice a society can tolerate -- in the name of 'social justice.'"..........
