That is a stupid remark.

I do believe he voted knowing this was necessary.

I am sick that our candidate will not strike back at the evil and malicious lies that are being stated by MSM and his opponents......this nice crap is losing him the election and I hate to say it, but maybe he should.

He had come out saying he would.

McCain promised that if a pork-laden bill crossed his desk, he would veto it. A bill with more pork than the entire (insert your favorite pig metaphor here) actually crosses his desk, and he approves it. So much for that promise.

Oh yeah, I hear that one billion was for the presidents discretion.

Try 100 Billion.

HMM the vote hasn’t started yet and it is 9:36 EST. The first vote was for an amendment to the bill not the bill itself.

Folks we may not like everything in this, but we have got to pass something.

If we don’t do something to calm the markets and the nervous American public, we WILL fall into a deep recession.

Did you see the Auto Sales numbers today for Sept? It wasn’t because of “tight credit”. The last 2 weeks of Sept was horrible sales wise. After the financial meltdown happened, people freaked and stopped buying autos. These auto numbers are just the tip of the Iceberg. Wait until 3rd quarter sales and financials come in a few weeks. It will be horrible. People are so scared, they are only buy the bare essentials.

So even though I don’t like it, we have got to do something fast.

Unfortunately the republicans are not in the majority of the house or the senate. I think they did the best they could. This senate bill is better than the house one. I hope the house adopts it on Thursday.

Lay off McCain; he had to do this. Go ahead and don’t vote for McCain, and get Obama. That is scary my friend.

McCain, Obama, Lieberman.... and passage. No surprise.

You think any Senator actually read the 450 page bill?
Highly doubtful.

The Senate is in a world separate from the rest of us.
They don’t have to listen to the people.
They play by their own rules.

everyone calm down. We all know how McCain is and if he wins the presidency there will be more disappointments. However, he is much better than Obama. Palin is great and the VP for her is a great start to a long career.

DITTO!!!! Goodness... what alternative beside McCain... unless you want a terrorist dictator. Not the vote we wanted but even Sarah said this afternoon that a lot of the pork was out and that something was needed.

CALM DOWN!!!!!!

I cannot believe how so fired up people are about this. I got home this evening and my e-mail was over whelmed with pleas to call our reps and say no! Heck, I even got an e-mail from the manager of the batting cages.

No, McCain didn’t have to do this.

Leaders lead not follow the pack.

McCain lost my vote tonight.

Agree. Frank, Dodd, anyone who received all the money from F & F need to go.

Here’s my thought though...

McCain was instrumental in blocking to original bill and crafting a better one. Had the last one not gotten killed in the House, this one would not exist at all. It is a better, though not perfect bill. McCain did what little he could and this still better than what the Dems put out. Now he needs to start naming names - which they just said on Fox News that he is going to do.

I am still in the McCain camp. The other choice really scares me.

Re: If we don’t do something to calm the markets and the nervous American public, we WILL fall into a deep recession.

You know this why? Because some journalists and politicians told you so?

If things were as dire as the media and the politicians paint this out to be, every CEO in American would be howling for legislation to be passed. They are not.

if she said “adopt newt’s plan” I would have faith in her. She didn’t bring anything to the table on this debate.

Totally agreed! Major Garret just said that McCain has an ad that is going to help people put the pieces together of who’s fault this was. Can’t remember how he put it.
If mccain hasn’t heard the repub outcry from today, he deserves to lose. Everyone has told him to knock off the Mr nice guy act and FIGHT...
Repubs are too nice.

Lol. McCain with this vote has more in common with Obama than the Conservative GOP House.
