Since Hurricane Katrina, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now has fought to make sure that displaced New Orleanians can vote, return home, tell their stories and have a place to live.

Now ACORN, the venerable 38-year-old social justice organization, faces the fight of its life over an embezzlement scandal and leadership crisis that hits Orleans Parish Civil District Court today at 9 a.m.

In late May, the group's board was shocked to learn that the brother of ACORN founder Wade Rathke had stolen nearly $1 million from the organization and its affiliates eight years ago.

I didn’t see this anywhere else. ACORN’s founders using ACORN credit cards for their own personal use to the tune of almost a million dollars. Liberals trying to decide between their horror at being used and lied to vs. their need to use ACORN to “rebuild the city” and steal elections.

Just the tip of the iceberg with ACORN. Corruption breeds corruption. ...and a whole lot of people will vote for Obama. It is unbelievable that even ten percent of the population would vote for him. I think that whoever doesn't vote for him should be considering secession.

Can we find out where these hearings are taking place?

If would be nice to protest against ACORN to show our disgust!

Are these the ones Obama taught while being their organizer?

“can vote, return home, tell their stories and have a place to live.”

Missing from the list is “get a job.”

...ACORN, the venerable 38-year-old social justice organization..

venerable -- worth of being venerated

venerate -- to regard with respect, reverence, or heartfelt deference

Not the word I would have chosen. I pray for the day when RICO will be applied to this abominably corrupt "social justice organization".

I live in Washington State, and ACORN is famous here! They came here in a close last governor election and counted the vote, THREE TIMES, count em 3 TIMES, to win it for the Democrats and the Governor seat. She, Casino Gregoire, is up again this time running, and we look for ACORN to come in again and get their names from the jails and street people and appoint addresses for “their” voters from City Hall. When the GOP called in a judge to look at the situation as fraud, guess what??...he was a Democrat too!! They really know how to win. Stacking the books I would say in this mail in voter state.

......said Bertha Lewis, director of the group’s New York office, who has taken over Rathke’s duties .....

Who so far has managed to steal only $38,427 but hopes to see a major improvement after the election.

“Corruption breeds corruption. ...and a whole lot of people will vote for Obama.”

THE POWER OF PROPOGANDA...
JUst like the belief that a financial crisis CREATED by Democrats, CORRUPTED by Democrats, and PROFITED by Democrats is somehow ALL Republicans fault.

Or that a butterfly ballot designed by Democrats, distributed by Democrats, and with voting overseen by Democrats was proof of BUSH stealing Florida in 2000..

FACTS don’t matter anymore, perception is now god in our media-centric country...

course the Dems and the left wing including black leaders want to keep blacks down as it is the only way they can assure the black vote.

wish blacks would wake up and realise that they are being kept down by the people who claim to represent them

The Rathke (founders) family repaid about 200,000.00 to keep the scandal out of the papers. The rest of the million dollars was repaid by a California donor named Drummond Pike. Do we know anything about him and why he would be so interested in hushing up this scandal?

Google Wade Rathke and I learned a lot about ACORN. They are much bigger then I thought. Too bad there is so much corruption in them.
