For shame... :>)
Having flown in in that same area many times with a pilot friend, I’m sure Fossett was having a hard time gaining altitude above the Sierra with his small engine plane, the peaks there are well over 13,000 feet, and you have to circle and circle to gain altitude in the thin air. All it would take would be a down draft coming over the mountain range (which happens all the time) to shove him right into a tall peak.
Thank you for image Bender NOTT LOL!
Not a bad way to go really. They guy had a damned fine run.
A very good bet. Medical incapacitation of a pilot is a pretty rare cause of accidents. Mechanical failure a little more likely but continued VFR into IMC is a real killer. Even if you're instrument rated (something I try to remind myself as an instrument rated private pilot.)
They will probably cite the hiker for going off trail next.
Friend of mine walked off of the dance floor, and between his lifing one foot and putting down the other, he fell dead to the floor. I doubt he had time to realize he was having an ‘event’, before he was dead.
Knowing the journalistic level at Faux News, they will no doubt be asking hard questions, like were the remains transported in a white Bronco?
RIP Fossett...a great American gone.
How come when I report abuse by fellow members, their posts never get removed?
I often wonder if Shep is gay. He’s certainly a Demoncrat.
There probably is but I doubt that they will release it till they are done their investigation.
RIP.
Can’t stand Shep. The way he blamed Bush during Katrina was totally unfair.
For instance, he was in NO reporting during the flood, and kept saying “why isn’t anyone doing anything about this terrible tragedy, over and over again. He kept implying that the Feds were sitting on their hands.
WHO CARES??? I MEAN HONESTLY HE WAS A WEALTHY RISK TAKER, DEMOCRAT. WHO CARES ON FREE REPUBLIC. GOD BLESS HIS FAMILY. BUT WHO CARES.
Even if he survived the impact, which is unlikely given what the FAA has already released, he would have been severely injured and at the mercy (or lack thereof) of any number of predators that dwell in those mountains.
I'd say there are a great number of coyotes, mountain lions, and black bears, along with smaller predators like bobcats, lynxes, etc., living in those mountains, and that some of them would have been drawn in by the scent.
The reason I ask is because when there was a group effort online to hunt for the plane, I wonder if the wreckage was overlooked by accident.
Sounds like the scavengers got to him after the animals.
