McCain: "I have great respect for Al Gore."
Reuters ^ | Thu Oct 2, 2008 | Jeff Mason

He said he would involve former Vice President Al Gore in efforts to address the issue. "I would tap him, I would tap people who have been involved in these issues for many years." McCain noted that he disagreed with the Nobel Peace Prize winner about nuclear energy but added, "I have great respect for Al Gore."

especially when you are courting Hillary voters who may have a soft spot for Gore.

My step mother is a HUGE Hitlery fan. When I asked today if she is going to vote for "The One" she said no.

I should note that she lives in Pennsylvania. So if you are looking for good news from Pa. there it is!

I like Sarah. Her background is great. Her life story is great. She shares almost all my political views. I still wish she had a little more experience under her belt.

Another five years, I would have been a whole lot more comfortable with her one heartbeat away from the presidency.

As for Obama, he’s even less prepared. Biden hasn’t been on the right side of an issue in his life. We’ve sure got a doozie of a choice this year.

There are only two reasons any conservative would even think about voting for McCain.

1 - Sarah Palin
2 - He’s not Barack Obama

What planet is he from?

What language does he read?

Has he been imprisoned for the past 20 years?

How can he be so oblivious to what’s going on?

Please don’t get me wrong, I cringe too, but I think a lot people here ignore the positives about McCain. If McCain were right 80% of time, people would talk only about the 20%.

“Sure he’s stable. This is what John McCain has been as long as he has been on the public scene. He was the only Republican in the Keating Five debacle. He seems to author leftist bills with Democrats. He owns Democrat’s core beliefs on a number of issues.

This is John McCain, pure and simple. I know a lot of us wish he was otherwise. He just isn’t.

If you think it’s bad now, just wait until he’s in charge.

Yes, I realize Obama is worse.”

What an ugly reality you’ve described. As long as we allow the media to pick our candidates, this is what we’ll get. I can’t believe so many are willing to accept that. McCain is just being McCain, the same guy who has ticked us all off more often than not for 20 years. I do believe for some delusional reason, that McCain still believes the media is fair. I guess he has to dance with the ones that brought him here to some extent.

McWuss could've have this all wrapped up a month ago. A strong military If he had addressed the oil... drill here drill now and pay less (which 75% of the American citizen wants) Close the borders and deport illegals (which 70% of what the American citizen wants) Started naming names in the fanniefreddie fiasco BEFORE the meltdown!..(he always claims he fights corruption...this was lay-ed out for him...any FReeper could have pointed out the scumbags responsible for it and had the proof to use it. As soon as he was the Republican candidate he should have stopped all this bipartisan BS! AND ATTACKED....

Well he could say’ “Al Gore is a moonbat” which might make some folks happy but probably not garner any votes. In the Senate they regularly call people they despise, “my esteemed colleague” - that’s the nature of politics, because anything less than bland praise can get you into political hot water.

The race is too close to tick any group off. We need every last vote we can get to keep Barry out of the White House.

My problem with Palin this go round, is that she was simply window dressing for John. Once she was nominated John hasn’t been the focus of the media one time. It worked splendidly. The right loves here, and so much so it doesn’t matter what John is.

When November 5th comes along, it will be “Sarah who?” at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

I could be wrong I suppose, but this is how I see it.

The exact reason he is losing! A refusal to speak and expose the truth. Perhaps he doesn’t know the truth? You cannot respect those who are out to destroy you.

To me, it doesn't matter now. McCain lost my vote when he voted for this pig bailout bill. I never much liked him to begin with, but he was my alternative. He just proved to me he doesn't have the stones and I am sure as hell not going to reward him with a vote for what he just did to us.

Taxation without representation is the story here, 85% of the public wanted that bill to die and burn. The sob's voted it in anyway. McCain just killed himself off I think.

jersey117: “He’s trying to win the independents so that he actually has a shot at this.”

Oh, I think he’s trying to win independents. The thing is, it’s not a purely political act. No. He really, really means it. John McCain is, for all practical purposes, a moderate Democrat. Nevertheless, I’ll vote for a moderate Democrat over a Marxist any day!

If, if, if....We’re busting our butts trying to see the ‘positives’! He’s not helping.

See post 64.

To be honest, almost to a man the Republicans in D.C. fail to see the media players for what they are. They fail to see the opposition for what they are also IMO. They just don’t get it. This is one of the most frustrating things.

In baseball the Democrats would be the opposing player that always spiked your team mates. Your whole team despises the guy. Then your own coach is asked about him in the press, and he lauds the guy for publication.

That’s our guys for ya...

McCain wants too much to be liked. Dangerous quality (but I’ll unhappily vote for him anyway.)
