I doubt that Barney’s is still made of steel.

If McCain loses election, his unwillingness to turn this issue back on rats will be a primary cause. Suppose he oppose the bailout because of pork and deficit spending?, suppose he asked Obama why he supports bailing out investors that make risky decisions and make money during the boom and expect taxpayers to pay during the bust? Suppose he asked if Obama NOW supports ‘trickle down’? Suppose he asked Obama why an invester bailout helps the economy when he is claiming ‘trickle up’ on his website, tax increase and ‘tax rebate’ welfare checks will revive the economy? Suppose he made Obama debate the bailout bill? NO , McCain caved, voted for the bill and HID like a coward during the senate debate where Obama attacked republicans for ‘trickle down’ . Pathetic, makes me sick.

Too bad that Gov Palin didn’t squarely place the blame for this entire mess on the Community Reinvestment Act, as passed by Carter, ACORN for using it as a club to intimidate banks into making loans to people who could not pay them back, and the congressional ‘Rats for blocking ANY effort to investigate Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, or the tactics used by ACORN.

She’s not going to do that. It would be seen as the equivalent of Pelosi unleashing on the GOP and poisoning the vote in the House. Sure, it would be throwing red meat to the base, but it wouldn’t help her or McCain with the middle of the roaders and they HAVE to have those middle of the roaders to win.

There will be names named and fingers pointed in the proper direction in time. Starting that process now will not play well with the public. They are sick and tired of partisan bickering and political posturing.

First, a bill has to be passed and hopefully it won’t be the boondoggle the present bill is.

Shout it from the mountain top!

McCain's problem has always been that he can not see the underlying socialist problems here. We just get more populist crap about Wall St. greed, coruption, etc. OK, yeah fine John but why was Wall St. able to gorge on this stuff? If he can find the answer to that and start to sell it he can win. Palin could have connected a few dots last night but didn't.

Good article.

I keep wondering why didn't the Pubs fix these problems when they were the majority?

All the garbage was put in place by the Rats, but when Bush was first elected Pres. we had a majority in the House and the Senate and concerns were raised but nothing was done. Why?

There is a huge racial component to this issue. It's just much easier to whistle past that graveyard.

Maxine once described a riot in LA as a revolt (they were revolting TVs out of the stores). She was correct. She IS very revolting.

I wish Palin had named names, especially Johnson, Gorelick and Raines, and mentioned that on an annualized basis, Obama received 49 times as much money from FannieFreddie as McCain.

She could have pointed out that these folks are Obama stalwarts and said something to the effect that perhaps Obama Obiden have had their silence PURCHASED.

there are TAX items in this bill, doesn't it have to ORIGINATE in the House, rather than Senate?

She should have said Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, ACORN and CRA. This financial disaster was set up by the Dems and their agents for October. Soros, Chicago Options Exchange, Middle East money which is flooding into Obama’s campaign. We are witnessing an attempted coup by marxists and their offshore allies along with the Islamists. They did it in Western Europe with Islam already.

Contribute and volunteer. No whining. No hand wringing over polls. Let’s not go negative on McCain or Palin as you will do the marxists work for them. Time to work and fight.

Agreed. McCain needs to hammer Obama’s fingerprints all over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. If thrdr rvil bunch wins, say goodbye to America. Every state will be like Michigan and CallieFornia. Obama will open the borders to Islamic countries to repay all the Middle East campaign money.

The lying polls are stabilizing and Obama is slipping again. Ignore the polls.

Get out and volunteer and contribute. Get the check book or credit card out. McCain is not perfect but the alternative created the Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac disatser that could bring down the global financial syste,

Volunteer and contribute. No whining or sniping.

Thank you for the link.

When did the Pubs lose the House and the Senate? IIRC they had control of them until 2004?

Bush sounded the alarm in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. What did the Pubs do? I know the Rats did nothing. They never do, unless it gives them more control.

There is a huge racial component to this issue. It's just much easier to whistle past that graveyard.

It doesn't excuse them from their responsibility. The govt. has now stepped into nationalizing home ownership and Pubs voted for it. I suspect the Pubs in the House and Senate that voted for this take over of the financial sector did so because they have a good share of responsibility for not fixing this problem when they were in the majority.

If they didn't fix it because they were afraid of being called racists then they shouldn't have been in office. Pragmatically, how much of the Black vote do the Pubs get anyway?
