In that regard, we call for a major expansion of support for the stem-cell research that now shows amazing promise and offers the greatest hope for scores of diseases with adult stem cells, umbilical cord blood, and cells reprogrammed into pluripotent stem cells without the destruction of embryonic human life. We call for a ban on human cloning and for a ban on the creation of or experimentation on human embryos for research purposes

An ad with a woman's voice quite distinctly claiming that McCain and the Republican Platform call for outlawing all Stem Cell research was played approximately 1:10 PM today on WPHT in Philadelphia. The word "embryonic" was never mentioned. I believe Palin's name was mentioned as well, but of course I don't have the tape. I know the purists will call this post a vanity, but it was an official BO campaign ad, his voice came on at the end to endorse it. It was such a blatant lie that his buddies at CBS, which owns WPHT must have decided it was worth reaching the undoubtedly big post-debate Rush audience one time , no doubt they'll pull it before it draws a lot of scrutiny. But the lie is out there. I am posting a link to the Republican Platform, read the language yourself. McCain and Palin need to scream bloody murder about this one. Any one else hear the ad?

And if you want to do research on fetal stem cells AND do it without Federal subsidy then that’s fine too.

Of course its a lie.
The ironic truth is that it is the Democrats who are against research by private concerns, as their socialized medicine scheme would discourage any kind of research including stem cell as it wouldn’t allow the researchers to recoup their research costs through adequate prices
To: DManA
poor investment with other developments in the field. It may be the BO is just too stupid to know the distinctions.

I agree that McCain needs to call Obama out on this one. It is completely misleading and false.

It’s on all the conservative talk radio stations here in Wisconsin as well. Stem cell research lies were a big winner for the Dems in prior elections.

Obama probably should get a pass on this because he’s too stupid to know the differences and distinctions, having been on a pot-high when he was in Biology class.
