Another shining moment in Philadelphia history. This place is the biggest dump on the face of the earth, with the most liberal, corrupt, lazy, stupid, foulmouthed, greaseballs you will ever see in your life. Philadelphia makes San Francisco seem like, well, Wasilla Alaska. The 10% or so of people who have evolved beyond the troglodyte stage are, by and large, non-natives. Im 20 years here (for work and school) I’ve met previous few native-born Philadelphians that I didn’t find utterly repulsive. I’m sure there are many more, but they tend to go into hiding just to survive.
To: dayglored
It would appear that this particular sting was set up to catch the providers.
Don’t worry, they do the obverse sting too.

Usually these prostitutes 'working' out of there homes try to be descreet about it, but not this pair.
Single men stopping by all day/night. and the ladies half dressed in their own backyards. What did they expect?

Other than that, sounds like a little personal free enterprise, except that probably the mom was pimping the 22-yo daughter, which is pretty horrific. The girl didn't look like she was happy about the situation, never mind the arrest.
Geez, what a mess.

So true,, I went to San Fran for a work conference this year. Then this summer I took my daughter to see a game in the final season at Yankee Stadium. She loves history, so we drove to Philly to see the whole Independence hall thing. A great experience, but wow are you correct. San Fran felt like a warm safe place compared to Philly. What a menace that town is. Now i understand the whole Mumia thing,, the corrupt political stories,, etc,,
USS Oly
It was an education in more ways than one,, a singularly disgusting, menacing place. Country mouse went back home, city mouse turned out to be a creepy thug.
In a word,,, if youve never been to Philly,, imagine a democrat run city,, (cant believe im going to say this) without the idealistic reformer attitude of San Fran, with the ethos of Tony Soprano!

Given the quality of the merchandise Im not sure their yearly income was above $42,000.She said it would be $200 for both of them. At that rate, it would take 210 of those double tricks to make $42K; presumably the single trick would pull down less than $100. Looking at the daughter, who is presumably the more attractive of the two, somehow I doubt that they are raking in $42K's worth of action.

I would say yes,, go,, get a cheesesteak,, see the sights,, but BE careful, and for heavens sake, cross the street with extreme care,, especially down by the riverwalk area. Thanks for your comments. The residential areas are different than the tourist areas, and of course, any city is a complex and dangerous environment that requires a learning curve to navigate. Having lived also in Washington, DC, I can definitely say that Philly is a lot more liveable and driveable, and certainly very walkable. It's a great town for the performing arts, for museums (the Philadelphia Art Museum is a treasure trove) and for restaurants of every type of ethnicity and cuisine, for sports, medicine, law, education (an Ivy League university and dozens of other colleges and universities in the city limits and just outside) and for enormous public festivals. The two rivers running through the city so close together in the central area is an unique and refreshing feature. Fairmount Park is the largest city park system in the country, and is full of antique-filled mansions that can be toured. There is boating on both rivers, and of course the Reading Terminal Market and the Italian Market are teeming with goodies. I'm just scratching the surface here.

wonderful city = oxymoron.
They may have wonderful things/places/activities.
They may have a preponderance of decent people.
They may even be a necessity, and provide necessary services for an entire state, region, or even nation.
BUT, neither in US travels, nor foreign, have I ever seen (let alone lived in) a “wonderful” city.

I'm appalled about the younger kids being around with this stuff going on.
According to the video, the 3 children, ages 3 to 7, belong to Tammy Smith, the 22 year old daughter.
She was fifteen with her first. Her Mom was 16 when Smith was born.
What a mess.
