California U.S. Reps. Loretta and Linda Sanchez say their brother Henry and his girlfriend are missing after a possible boating crash off the Southern California coast.

The sisters said in a statement issued Friday that a debris field found off the coast contained fragments from the boat their brother was aboard with his girlfriend, Penny Avila. Authorities said life jackets, a cooler with food, a sandal, and pieces of a boat were found in the water, according to the Long Beach Press-Telegram newspaper.
The Coast Guard said Henry Sanchez and his girlfriend left Alamitos Bay near Long Beach late Wednesday or early Thursday en route to Santa Catalina Island and never arrived.

Hope they are found alive and well. If there is any chance for a happy ending, the United States Coast Guard is it!
You are correct, that is a main shipping channel. Those big ships cannot even see you and it is your job to stay the heck out of their way. We have a 40 ft sailboat and have been in and out of Alamitos Bay a number of times, they were all nailbiters for me, scared the crap out of me.
We spent a week in Alamitos Bay once for that very reason. Was on a run from San Diego back to Ventura.
That is why we have radar on board. It picks up everything for 25 miles. Our screen is large and helps us pick up any
traffic. I would not be traveling around in the fog or at night without it.

Natalie Wood was on a yacht at the Istmus where everyone was drunk as skunks.
I was there that night at a party on another boat aout 100’ away.
Well, she was heading for Catalina Island, which was my point.
Wrong, she was at a party on a boat at a mooring at the Isthmus, she wasn't heading anywhere!
She was drunk as a skunk, fell off the boat, hit her head in a dingie tied up along side and drowned.
