I live near that area, and there are NO large signs for 0bama as there were for Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 04. By looking around one would think that the only democrats running this year are Warner and our congressman Boucher. The only 0bama signs that I’ve seen are the small yard signs, and they are few and far in between.
Okay, so now it seems if you are not going to vote for Obama, you are a poor, racist yokel who just needs to be enlightened. What a load.
I live in western Pa and in this bastion of Democrat rule including the home of our military hating Murtha I concur, not too many Obama signs.

someone did hire a plane or used his own to pull an Obama banner over Virginia Tech Saturday. He was up there for hours and had to have spend close to a grand in fuel.
Not 1 in 5 dems here are going to vote for Obama, but he’s winning VA by 10. I call BS.

I think this argument is going to backfire somewhat, and not necessarily in Appalachia. It may be difficult for the average lefty to figure out, but many middle class, professional, educated Caucasian suburbanites are sick and tired of hearing about how white racism is holding back the progress of “minorities.”
As anyone with half a brain knows (apparently many libs have less), if members of a racial minority cannot succeed in a professional environment today, it’s due first and foremost to their efforts. Individuals are judged now on their performance, not their race. How does that not extend to the presidency of the United States?
Caucasians have to be careful not to say or do anything that could be considered in the least bit way to offend a member of a “minority” group.
My guess is that there are many whites who pretend to be interested in and/or support Obama simply because of this. In some workplaces and ‘circle of friends’, supporting McCain is seen as a tacit self-revelation of being a racist.
Of course, it all gets back to what you believe when you enter the voting booth.
And no one there had a Stinger Missile? Disappointing.
And yet the pollsters tell us the Obamanation is winning in a walk. I’ve the feeling that after the election results come in next month, pollsters and the media are...oh, who the hell am I kidding? They’re not going to learn a damned thing.
My thiking is if there is NO sign in a yard, they are McCain/Palin supporters. We only have two Obama signs in our neighborhood. We have to remember that Obama told his followers to “get in you neighbors’ faces” so folks who are for McCain/Palin feel like they would be in line for property damage if they put up a sign for McCain or Palin!

Or is that a convenient canard for the fact that a lot of people do not like egotistical politicians whose ideas about change are really just a socialist rerun!
I have to wonder if most non-blacks aren't just keeping quiet until the voting booth.I have noticed too many racist Obama supporters;but many of them have been told for generations that they are too dumb to make it without preferential hiring quotas, and now they seem determined to prove it by voting for a Marxist .There might be a lot fewer straight ticket ballots this election,I think.
I went to a festival yesterday in Charlottesville, Va(extremely leftist area) and there were few BO signs. We go to this festival every year and in 2000 there were loads of Gore signs and in ‘04 loads of Kerry signs. McCain signs beat BO by 2-1. Good news, I think.
Certainly not true in Federal employment. I've heard from friends that it's not true in some private employment.

I'm sure for a few people it IS about race, but those people are a minority. I think what makes 0bama undesirable for most folks around here is his far left wing liberalism/socialism.
