Print Media Says Palin's Obama Accusations Are Racist

Analysis: Palin's words carry racial tinge

Oct 5 10:43 AM US/Eastern By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL Associated Press Writer

Palin Attacks Obama on ‘Palling Around with Terrorists’

WASHINGTON (AP) - By claiming that Democrat Barack Obama is "palling around with terrorists" and doesn't see the U.S. like other Americans, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin targeted key goals for a faltering campaign.

And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret.

First, Palin's attack shows that her energetic debate with rival Joe Biden may be just the beginning, not the end, of a sharpened role in the battle to win the presidency.

"Our opponent ... is someone who sees America, it seems, as being so imperfect, imperfect enough, that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country," Palin told a group of donors in Englewood, Colo. A deliberate attempt to smear Obama, McCain's ticket-mate echoed the line at three separate events Saturday.

"This is not a man who sees America like you and I see America," she said. "We see America as a force of good in this world. We see an America of exceptionalism."

Her reference to Obama's relationship with William Ayers, a member of the Vietnam-era Weather Underground, was exaggerated at best if not outright false. No evidence shows they were "pals" or even close when they worked on community boards years ago and Ayers hosted a political event for Obama early in his career.

Obama, who was a child when the Weathermen were planting bombs, has denounced Ayers' radical views and actions.

With her criticism, Palin is taking on the running mate's traditional role of attacker, said Rich Galen, a Republican strategist.

"There appears to be a newfound sense of confidence in Sarah Palin as a candidate, given her performance the other night," Galen said. "I think that they are comfortable enough with her now that she's got the standing with the electorate to take off after Obama."

Second, Palin's incendiary charge draws media and voter attention away from the worsening economy. It also comes after McCain supported a pork-laden Wall Street bailout plan in spite of conservative anger and his own misgivings.

"It's a giant changing of the subject," said Jenny Backus, a Democratic strategist. "The problem is the messenger. If you want to start throwing fire bombs, you don't send out the fluffy bunny to do it. I think people don't take Sarah Palin seriously."

The larger purpose behind Palin's broadside is to reintroduce the question of Obama's associations. Millions of voters, many of them open to being swayed to one side or the other, are starting to pay attention to an election a month away.

Whenever the 0bama media uses racist card, he lost couple points. Let's throw everything on him, so that the media uses the racist card more often! How about the following:

0bama is a Harvard Law graduate! (It's racist because only few Blacks go to Harvard Law).

0bama is a US Senator from IL ! (It's racist because Lincoln, who advocated for the abolishment of slavery, was from IL. It's an innuendo that a Black has to be freed before they could hold an office in Federal level).

0bama grew up in HI! (It's obviously racist because it suggests he's an exceptional for growing up there... after all, how many Blacks --with their low income and education-- can go to HI?)

If Obama wins, this is what it’s going to be like: any criticism will be greeted with accusations of racism. He did it with his previous opponents, including Hillary, and now with McCain/Palin.

Yep, this little attack is to scare the Mccain camp into silence. Hope Mccain mans up and ignores what it really is.

Unsubstantiated??

The UPI release said it was about his “dealings” with a terrorist. Dueling press releases. Maybe they should debate each other.

Has he forgotten Jimmy Carter being attacked by a bunny?

LOL! I had forgotten all about that. I remember there being a picture back then of him franticly battling the bunny with a boat paddle but I couldn't find it, only pics of the rabbit swimming away afterwards. Of course, the Monty Python killer rabbit angle is wide open...

While she’s hitting Hussein she needs to hit the MSM about carrying his water. It’ll be fun watching them defend Osama at the same time saying “We aint bias”.

AP is Racist!

AP's criticism of Palin is because her husband is a Native American, and the Press Establishment believes anyone dumb enough to marry a member of the Ya'put tribe is not bright enough to be Vice President.

Look at the way they covered for the lie in the Boston Globe last week regarding the "rape kit" issue.

”But based on their own logic I guess it would be OK if I hung around with KKK members that lynched blacks... as long as it was 60 years ago, right?"

Well, yeah… Need I remind you how revered the more er less honorable Senator Robert Byrd is among the liberal elite.

Don't worry. Obama’s people have been in Alaska for weeks looking for the perfect little kid to be in the ad.

Excellent point, realcleanguy.

Hillary was first to bring up the Ayers connection. Youtube can be found here:

http://www.barackbook.com/Profiles/WilliamAyers.htm

For that matter, the NY Slimes brought it up, even if it was intended to help BO.

So the AP must now denounce Hillary as a racist and the NY Slimes as a paper for the KKK for the sake of fairness.

But speaking of KKK, when will the AP condemn the democrat party for not kicking out Senator Byrd?

People need to remember that The One IS HALF-WHITE. How can any attack on him, therefore, be racist?????

Seems like any time anyone says anything about Obama that the MSM doesn’t like, they are accused of racism. A comment about Obama’s associates is hardly racist.
