The Bail-a-holics (Chuck Norris: Its the Socialism, Stupid Alert)
Worldnetdaily.com ^ | 10/06/2008 | Chuck Norris

[B]oth Democratic and Republican nominees for President, self-professed agents of reform, followed the cattle call to back the bailout. Sen. Obama, who claims to be the messiah of change, sure is showing his true colors in two huge decisions – first by his appointment of politics-as-usual Joe Biden and now by his vote to pass this economic bailout bill and drive us deeper into debt. And, quite frankly, Sen. McCain is also disappointing me at this point. At the Republican Convention, John talked about bringing the power back to the people. So he chose Sarah Palin, and finally gained my respect and vote with this Washington outsider. Now, when he had the perfect opportunity to side with the majority of Americans, who didn't want to incur a trillion dollars more in debt, he not only voted for the bilking bailout but the earmarks and pork barrel projects packed inside.

John, you gained my vote by your conservative choice in Gov. Palin; don't lose my (and others') vote by your return to politics-as-usual. For many of us, you have one last chance in the debates – you must choose radical reformation. If there were ever a time for Maverette Sarah to show her true colors, then she needs to stand up to Maverick McCain and say, "Enough is enough!" Speak up, Gov. Palin, please speak up!

Tragically, McCain, Obama and the rest of the Capitol Hill crowd are not only paying for the corruptions of Wall Street cronies, but they are enabling a financial system in America that is consumed by greed and run by super-excessive superfluous amounts of credit. [I]f the markets ever do stabilize, it's only because the gargantuan black hole has been momentarily satiated, until such a time that it needs to devour more public institutions and debt.

It wasn't the conservative thing to do. Adding more to the nation's debt won't fix what's wrong with the economy or right the wayward course of our government. Today, Chuck Norris offers some words on what becoming a nation of bail-a-holics means.

I don’t know what the answer is. However to do nothing was not an option. I did like the Mark to Market change idea and the dropping of the Capital Gaines tax to zero. I don’t know why Paulson and Bernanke didn’t want to do this.

The Bush Administration insisted on a bailout or nothing. The debate on rescuing the economy was rigged from the outset. Alternative proposals that would have done a better job without putting the taxpayers on the hook never received a fair hearing. Like a frightened mob, the politicians rushed through a bill none of them read that no one is sure will do any good in turning the economy around. Its a tragedy on so many levels.

don't you think we all know we're screwed?...of course we do....

the time for action in preventing it has come and gone....

its here....plain and simple....

now what to do?...sit and complain for a few more weeks and months?

we have a choice....

we do not elect a fascist especially in hard times....

we elect a known war hero, a man not well liked because he is tough and stubborn and principled to a fault....

we vote in the millions for McCain...warts and all....

we never give pause to that Hitler in the making...hussein...

these "woe is me" diatribes even from the likes of Norris or Glenn Beck or anyone else..they are not helpful in this situation....

maybe if we had put a little effort in getting more Pubs in the Congress the last time around, rather than stay home and pout, we wouldn't be in this situation....

no pouters this time....

time to stand up and be counted...

ONWARD TO THE WHITE HOUSE...GIT'ER DONE MAC AND SARAH!.

This is not that complicated. What we have here is another great depression. Caused by Politically correct politics bleeding in to the financial system. Obama was in on it from the start with acorn and the American Communist party. He is the Trojan Horse. I predict massive deflation unemployment and even worse price controls. The bloated government that has caused the problem from city all the way to national levels will do anything to survive. As the tax base declines they will not be willing to cut programs-givaways and government pensions or government jobs. Cash is now king. Prepare to pay the piper.

Well the Democrats wanted this also and were trying to protect their own butts, since they are the ones that tried to stop new regulation on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Once again, I’d rather go way out on a limb and say that C. Norris is far more a Conserv than those in our Capital that decided to foreclose upon the american dream.

Chuck is absolutly right on this, rewarding bad (re illegal) behavior, will only get us more of the same, (BTW Chuck Norris is not a Prophet, He’s not a saint, nor a mind Ninja. No, Chuck N. is just a guy with more than a half of a brain.) Like I posted in other forums, (You Tube, don’t laugh)

‘Thee’ Biggest bailout in US history is far more likely to do far more damage to our economy (cause it’s just the start)than letting these ill run financial institutions fail, I feel for thier loss, really I do. I just dont want to give any of my hard earned pennies to criminals, (among others).

A week or so ago I posted right here on FR that this Bail Out would happen. I was surprised to see some Dems come against it though, Therefore I must conclude I am not a Prophet ( Ha Ha Ha, just a joke, I’m not the “O”). Geez, I’m not even a high school grad (GED yes), and yet I feel I’m superior in intelligence to Bernacke, or should I say, I wish I were as dumb as him, and yet had all his money...

“it’s a tragedy on so many levels...”

it may be that this particular tragedy is called tyranny.

“I predict massive deflation unemployment and even worse price controls.”

I think it is going to flip the other way. We are going to keep creating money like drunken sailors destroying the ants among us who are savers.

I heard that AIG burned through most of the money we gave them already (probably went to Goldman Sachs to retire that debt I bet - Paulson and Bush are as crooked as the rest of them).

I was probably not going to vote for McCain before this fiasco, and I am even less likely to vote for him now. I hate the thought of an Obama presidency, but we are getting what we deserve.

It is time to start rebuilding the Republican party with new Congress critters in two years.

Be comforted by the fact that a good portion of the $700B bailout will probably go to pay the salaries of folks that will establish the value of the underlying securities on the books of these large companies. You know the same geniuses who conceived of this “crap” in the first place. I wonder what method they will use: golf buddies, payments under the table, chicken entrails... God help us all.

Principled to a fault???? phooey! I’m voting for him because, quite frankly one pig is better than the other pig. He showed us his principles: no bill with pork will escape my veto; yes vote on bailout loaded with pork.
He is just slightly more conservative than the opponent (the most liberal senator in Washington), but a little may be better than nothing. Hopefully he wont destroy conservatism for years by wearing the banner of conservative as he pushes a socialist agenda.

Because fixing the problem wasn’t the real reason why this was done.

Two appointed officials questionably the two most powerful men in the country now. They have the power to decide which corporations live or die. they have the power to set policy or withhold funding. Andrew Jackson would be shooting someone. Even Hamilton would be shocked at this power grab.

I’d like to see a breakdown of the earmarks and who proposed them. Who stuffed the bailout? It was bad enough we are forced into 700 billion, but it was ransom money for the porkers. I want to know who. I want their names published on the web and MSM editorials.

I would agree but that would REALLY screw the banks. We could pay debt with cheap dollars. The first priority for them is to SAVE thae banks. In the 70’s we had inflation but wages went up with it. Maybe wiwill have destaginflation. A busted ponzi.

I get a chuckle out of McCain’s latest commercial skewering Obama’s spending plan as too much seeing as how it is in ADDITION to the Bailout. Why not? The printing presses aren’t broken.

Well said, and I agree.

I'm voting for Sarah in November....she is a beacon of hope.

I pray she influences Mccain!

Your rant has a bit of an internal inconsistency - it says alternatives were offered, alternatives that would do better, but nobody read or understood the administration's plan. ;-)

I think the politician's understood the administration's plan, and leadership of both parties lacked the will to buck the pressure. In fact, I suspect a majority of them welcomed the pressure, because it affords them two outs in the future: "We didn't ask for this solution" (blame shifting away from Congress), and in the Democrats case, "This is a Republican bill" (accurate because the bailout part of the bill is basically the Paulson plan with no substantive revisions).

I agree completely that Congress acted like a frightened mob - business as usual. And I agree that debate was rigged from the outset. That pattern should be familiar by now. The most contentious bills of the past 4 years have been administration driven, and passed into law pretty much as demanded. Off the top of my head, Military Commissions Act, Detainee Treatment Act, and Modernization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. These are all major pieces of legislation, and they had negligible Congressional input.

It isn't possible to ferret out a complete breakdown from the Congressional Record. At least half of the pork (just judging by the roughly doubling of bill length as H.R.6049 moved through the Senate amendment process) originated in the House, in a bill that was darn long to begin with.

It's relatively easy to figure out the supporting base for the Paul Wellstone and Pete Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008, see the record, including sponsors and co-sponsors for H.R.1424.

One thing I find hilariously funny is that the Senate passed "all that pork" (the contents of HR 6049) twice. It passed it 93-2 when it was all pork and only pork. The two NY votes came from Democrats. The Senate passed it again, in combination with the bailout and the Wellstone/Domenici mental health provisions, about a week later. So let me get this right, all that pork passes on Sept 23, on a 93-2 vote, and when it comes up in combination with the bailout, some of the Senators who voted AYE for the pork say "we were forced to vote for that odious pork because it's combined with an emergency financial bailout."
