Sounds like the tactics of Al Sadr. Claim to want to lay down arms, only to rise up later and kill more innocent people. Kill them all, now!

(Un)holy crap! The enemy is hoisting the white flag in Afghanistan. GREAT JOB NATO AND US troops- keep up the good work! It ain’t over but the fat lady may be clearing her throat
http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/10/06/afghan.saudi.talks/index.html

“LONDON, England (CNN) — Taliban leaders are holding Saudi-brokered talks with the Afghan government to end the country’s bloody conflict — and are severing their ties with al Qaeda, sources close to the historic discussions have told CNN.....

According to the source, fugitive Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar — high on the U.S. military’s most-wanted list — was not present, but his representatives were keen to stress the reclusive cleric is no longer allied to al Qaeda.”

We had a VERY successful missile strike several days ago- maybe Mullah Omar is pushing up daisies

HUDNA - Arabic word often translated as "cease-fire.- Historically used as a tactic aimed at allowing the party declaring the hudna to regroup while tricking an enemy into lowering its guard. When the hudna expires, the party that declared it is stronger and the enemy weaker. The term comes from the story of the Muslim conquest of Mecca. Instead of a rapid victory, Muhammad made a ten-year treaty with the Kuraysh tribe. In 628 AD, after only two years of the ten-year treaty, Muhammad and his forces concluded that the Kuraysh were too weak to resist. The Muslims broke the treaty and took over all of Mecca without opposition.

The only way we should even consider a cease fire is to have the Taliban offer up Bin Laden and all of his top officers. Either they turn them in themselves or give us ALL of their hideouts.

Otherwise, the killing of them continues.

Yeah. I have a theory. In a last-ditch effort before his presidency ends, Bush picked up the pace right before the election and the Taliban and al Qaeda are being destroyed.

For them, a truce is only meant as a chance to resupply, get some rest, and plot. They’ve shown that over and over and over. It NEVER fails.

A Muslim seeking “peace” is only resting and rearming. A dead one is no longer a threat. You decide.

When a Muslim speaks of “peace”, take caution.

The Western secular definition of “peace” generally refers to a state of minimal violence.

The Christian definition of “peace” generally refers to a personal knowledge that God loves you. Christian and Western secular definitions of peace are quite compatable.

The Muslim definition of “peace” generally means worldwide submission to Islam. This definition can be incompatable with Western “peace”. In the case of the Taliban, it is likely to be incompatable with a state of minimal violence, as the Koran encourages lying to infedels to obtain submission to Islam.

Accept the deal...with a great deal of caution.

I agree. This would indicate a serious offer to negotiate. Otherwise they are just re-arming.

The strikes are now on a more frequent basis. They are hitting senior Al Qaeda.
Last round thought to have gotten more than a dozen Arab Al Qaeda.

Intel is clearly picking up and the senior Taliban are also being hit.

Pakistan is apparently looking the other way now. Omar can read the writing on the wall. And he can also hear the thunder in the distance.

This may be a delaying tactic. I doubt he gives up Zawahiri or bin Laden.
He’ll give up the Californian dude though much sooner.

New Pakistan government realizes it is now a target. The hotel bombing and its mammoth size is being viewed as Pakistan’s 9-11 BY Pakistanis.

US action in northwestern Pakistan has picked up. Bombings of Al Qaeda/Taliban are now just short of routine if this rate continues.

The Pakistan government now appears to be looking the other way.

Bill Roggio is THE MAN in covering this:

More surrender in the tradition of Muslim false surrender.

Annihilate them.

Follow them to their caves and seal them with rubble.
