Mabe Obama can sit down with Putin and talk about all the things that He and Putin have in Common. Marixism is a universal language.

The Russian economy is tanking! Russian markets are down 65% since their high in March. Pootie is scared “sh..less” and trying to distract the natives from their economic collaps.

They are and they have been for some time now. The Alaska ANG typically performs most of the air intercepts in the region and the Alaska Army NG is also considered the world's leading cold weather combat organization.

The Russians would get their butts handed to them by the Alaskans if the Russians caused any trouble.

And if the Alaskans get really upset they may even have their husbands come in from fishing to help out.

I really do wonder what Putin is up to. With all of the instability around the world and our election about to happen this is very curious indeed.
Does aanyone have any insightful input on this.

I totally agree with you. Putin might do something crazy to distract everyone out there on the economic collapse. A communist October surprise.

Couric: You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?

Sarah Palin: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and, on our other side, the land-boundary that we have with Canada. It’s funny that a comment like that was kinda made to … I don’t know, you know … reporters.

Couric: Mocked?

Palin: Yeah, mocked, I guess that’s the word, yeah.

Couric: Well, explain to me why that enhances your foreign-policy credentials.

Palin: Well, it certainly does, because our, our next-door neighbors are foreign countries, there in the state that I am the executive of. And there…

Couric: Have you ever been involved in any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?

Palin: We have trade missions back and forth, we do. It’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia. As Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there, they are right next to our state.

here is another source which should clarify.....
Russia is flexing muscle imo. The subtle point
of my post is how Palin was right about Russia/Alaska but has
been impuned by the Media for her remarks.
Based on these articles, I have more confidence in her awareness than that of Barack’s
judgment, in particularly based on the what I have seen in the Kenya video.

“Expect oil to fall below $40bbl as a result”

______________________________

This article fails to mention that on its way to Venezuala, the Russian warship is supposedly going to take out a few Somali pirates who’ve hijacked a Ukranian ship carrying 30 tanks, just south of the Suez Canal. There’s a whole lot more going on here. Just google “somali pirates, Faina, Deyanat, nuclear” or look here: http://shiratdevorah.blogspot.com/2008/10/hijacked-iranian-ship-was-dirty-bomb.html
Oil is headed lower, WAY lower and neither Iran nor Russia can afford for that to happen. So what will they do?

They are the best NG of any state.

The new ABM system protecting the US from rogue missle attacks originating in East Asia is operated by the AKNG.

Pailin may not be a Petraus, but she's more innvolved with issues of Defense and Security than any other Governor.

Just about every Alaskan is armed.

Paratroopers jumping into Alaska unannounced will be met with more resistance than those pansy Wolverines in Colorado. /s

I didn’t see that in the Times article. I feel like an idiot because I’ve read it a couple times, but only see a reference to Murmansk on the Arctic coast, which is nowhere near Alaska. I didn’t read the debka article — I thought they were crackpots? But thanks.

I doubt that. Alaska would leave the union before that ever happened and would survive just fine on it’s own.

"And if the Alaskans get really upset they may even have their husbands come in from fishing to help out. "

Actually, fishing is pretty much finished. Most of the husbands (and a lot of the wives) are out hunting furry things, like bears and moose. But with GPS and cellphones, they can come in any time.

I believe the ANG and the AANG never stand down. They are on active duty at all times because of our neighbors to the west.
