The measure of Palin's inexperience: She's not ready for her close-up
The Seattle Times ^ | October 6, 2008 | Susan Nielsen

TEN words keep ringing in my ears, long after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin supposedly redeemed herself and put to rest the nation's worst fears about the bottom of the Republican ticket.

"How long have I been at this?" she asked during last week's high-stakes vice presidential debate. "Like, five weeks?"

Say it ain't so, Joe, she's right.

No question, Palin killed. She's great on television when she's got rehearsed lines to deliver and no follow-up questions to answer. She's brash and disarming, and she makes you want to send her to Washington and give those boys a big whack on the patootie, you betcha.

But she's still not ready to be the nation's backup commander in chief in real life — or to compensate for Sen. John McCain's clear weaknesses on the economy. This isn't meant to be another case of Palin-bashing by the media elite. (Hello, I'm in Oregon.) This is the realization that, as the nation remains at war and in an economic crisis,

-SNIP-

What he's got is an untested dynamo who didn't know her Fannie from her Freddie until two weeks ago.

(Granted, neither did we. But we're not running for vice president.)

I had to root for Palin during Thursday's debate. She didn't collapse into incoherence, as she has during her unscripted television appearances. She did so well, I almost felt bad for Tina Fey.

But the debate was pure political theater, not a demonstration of national leadership. It was a timed performance in which the candidates gave canned soliloquies about soccer moms and guys named Joey.

It was also an interview for a job that requires years of preparation, not weeks. When the show's over, voters worried sick about the future will favor the more-qualified candidate.

Not the one who aced her screen test.

The thing is, Obama knows Fannie and Freddie intimately - he got lots and lots of money from them.

“When the show’s over, voters worried sick about the future will favor the more-qualified candidate.”

I agree with this statement, and that’s why I think most people will vote for McCain.

And the entire Obama campaign has been... what exactly?

This is sick! Barry O bolshevik has not only no experience, but no ability to handle this country and they’re worried about the vice presidential nominee?

“It was also an interview for a job that requires years of preparation, not weeks.”

Translated: A job that requires years of being brainwashed into the Beltway culture where she can can acquire the groupthink of the media and politicians.

Politicians and media elite think the rest of us are idiots. Thus Sarah Palin is too inexperienced to be VP.

Absolute and utter hogwash!!!!

Joe Biden has been at this for years and he told 14 lies....err....mistatements....and wasn’t able to correctly define the duties of the job he is seeking. So much for all that experience.

I am sure this lady had no intrest in voting McCain/Palin all along.

I am tired of far left liberals giving us a critique of our Vice Presidential candidate. They forget that Sarah has more experiance than their boy Obama.

I’d really like to hear about this exit strategy for Iraq, but then our enemies would get to hear about it too. Along with that promised date for withdrawl. Can we pretty-please ask all the terrorists in the world to turn off their TVs for like 15 minutes or so?

Females put males , even Lefty metrosexual males , to shame when it comes to thinking up ways to tweak and refine their Sarah-hatred. And this pathetic “journalist”
commits even more gaffes and misrepresentations, and outright lies than Biden did during said debate.

Agreed. "When the show's over," citizens should go for the experienced and qualified candidate, and that is not Obama!

Americans are being frighteningly naive about Senator Obama, never seeming to question that the puppeteers who have programmed and introduced him onto the American stage have a plan for this nation that does not coincide with the ideals of the Declaration and United States Constitution.

The liberty of millions yet unborn hangs in the balance in this election, and between now and Election Day, someone needs to expose those who control Obama's agenda.

I’d like to stick a large sculpture of the word “experience” up Susan Nielson’s ... Volvo’s tail-pipe, crosswise. I have had all the “experience” I need from the pack of hyenas who have been running the gubmint in Washington DC. dem or pub, man or woman, black or white, east or west, elected, hired or appointed. I am willing to start all over. One new face is a small start.

It’s not called the Seattle Slimes for nothing, you know, at least as far as conservatives are concerned.

Sarah scares them. They’ve got to be looking through their fingers over their eyes at the kinds of crowds she’s getting, and they see that the coronation of “the one” is in danger.

Who is Governor Sarah Palin

She doesn’t hate the founding father’s ideal America.
She hasn’t “changed” her name (Barack/Barry) to fit in.
She won’t side with the Muslim world if “things go bad with Israel.”
She doesn’t have a spouse who, after 40 something years of life, is “proud to be an American.”
She hasn’t caved to political opinion.
Her father was married to her mother.
Her husband had a DUI 22 years ago. At least he didn’t snort cocaine.
She doesn’t believe in the wholesale slaughter of human fetuses.
She doesn’t believe in sucking the brains out a wriggling late term baby.
She isn’t part of the corrupt Washinton D.C. establishment
She isn’t a Chicago politician
She doesn’t hobnob with San Francisco elitist’s
She isn’t a member of a radical church
She hasn’t had an association with a known terrorist
She doesn’t think the folks in West Virginia are bitter and cling to their Bibles and guns
She doesn’t think of having a baby as a punishment
She isn’t the darling of the mainstream media
She isn’t the darling of the Hollywood Bunch
She doesn’t change her position with every shift of the wind
She isn’t evasive about where she stands
She isn’t a socialst
She doesn’t want to trash the Second Ammendment
She doesn’t want to give you a tire gauge to solve the energy crises
She doesn’t want to tax you to death
She is not a globalist
She doesn’t want to stop drilling for oil
She doesn’t think coming from a small town is a disgrace

Sarah Palin's state gave every resident $3269 this year as a royalty return.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden's Democrat America ripped off every resident for $700 billion this year (soon to be $850 billion).

Susan Nielsen - you're so stupid that you should hire people to think for you.

You're on the list, b*tch.

than Obama has in Illinois.

What has he ‘done’ for Chicagoans?

What is amazing is that of the 2 presidential candidates and 2 VP candidates the most qualified is Palin...so if she’s not qualified then none of them are. I can buy that none of the other 3 are qualified. Even by his own estimate Obama is not qualified, at least he said so in 2004 and hasn’t gained any executive experience since then.
