Michigan Group Joins Boycott vs. Hallmark Over "same-sex couple" Cards
Family Policy Network ^ | 10/7/08 | Family Policy Network

Posted on 10/07/2008 11:52:51 AM PDT by TheAverageGuy

A Michigan pro-family group has joined a nationwide boycott of a major greeting card company as a result of its promotion of the homosexual lifestyle. The American Family Association of Michigan has joined forces with several other pro-family groups around the country to boycott Hallmark over the company's new line of "same-sex couple" cards.

AFA-Michigan's President Gay Glenn said, “Hallmark’s corporate position helps culturally legitimize and promote so-called homosexual ‘marriage,’ using its customers’ money to do so.” He added, “Each of us should ensure as a matter of conscience that Hallmark isn’t able to use any of our families’ money.”

Glenn said, “Several years ago, homosexual activists criticized a private school for observing Mother’s Day, since they said it ‘discriminated’ against children ‘who have two (homosexual) fathers’." He added, “That biological impossibility aside, what will Hallmark do next, remove its Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards to avoid offending homosexual activists? It’s obvious they have no concern about offending Christians and others who believe homosexual behavior is sinful and wrong.”

The text of the Boycott Hallmark petition reads as follows:

To: Hallmark Cards CEO Donald J. Hall

In Isaiah 5:20, God warns against exchanging good for evil by saying, "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (NKJV)

In Mark 10:6-8, God’s design for marriage is expressed clearly by Jesus Christ, when He declares, "But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh." (NKJV)

I urge you to withdraw any and all products sold by your company that celebrate, condone or otherwise encourage homosexual conduct and/or relationships. Unless and until you do, you have my pledge that I will refrain from doing business with your company.

Many Michiganders who signed the petition to boycott Hallmark over its pro-homosexual cards added their own comments to the statement above. Here is a sampling of those comments:

TAKE ACTION:

By signing AFA of Michigan's SECURE petition, your name and contact data will be compiled with many others from all over the United States who are opposed Hallmark's pro-homosexual cards. The list will be forwarded to Hallmark Chairman Donald J. Hall along with the verses above and an admonition to stop endorsing homosexual immorality.

To sign AFA-MI's petition now, click here:
http://familypolicynetwork.net/petitions/afa-mi/hallmark-mi/

Thank you for your support. Let's pray together for Hallmark to do the right thing and pull these cards from their shelves.

This is silly. I’d hate to be tied up in a knot of hatred that tight for the rest of me life. Who cares if they have greeting cards? Seriously. If you happen to believe in God, then I’m sure it’s between them and God. Let them sin all they want to. How does it make one bit of difference in what goes on inside our own houses?

Actually, I’ve found some really nice .99 cards at Target.

Christmas cards from the Metropolitan Museum of Art are beautiful and pretty inexpensive. Get the catalog.

Hallmark is so overpriced. All those freestanding stores are just full of dust catchers.

I have a problem with this.
No one is forcing anyone to buy the cards. I hear alot about our freedoms getting trampled upon. If we succeed in trampling someone else’s freedom whether we agree with it or not, why should they not turn around and do the same?
I don’t have to agree with you, but you have the right of free speech. When someone else expression of this is being stopped, I also am uncomfortable.
If Hallmark was forcing us to buy said cards, it would be a different story. But they are not.

It's not hatred, it is called sin by God.

I do not go to church but do think that homo’s are perverted and sick mentally.

It is not normal nor is it natural

As for inside their house, rubbish it is out in public, they are on parades with the other weirdo’s, even in MA they have had to close down areas at night due to homo’s having sex in the woods, dog parks, public toilets etc so don’t give me in their house.

They are wanting us to think they are normal and be accepted , they want a sham marriage, they want to get a hold of our kids,

so having a look at your posts since you just joined why not go to another site and push your pro homo, anti Mccain agenda elsewhere, maybe move on is more to your liking eh

as for boycotts then it is up to anyone who wants to do it as oabma is not president yet and I will join the boycott plus tell everyone I know to do so as well

So you shop at Target a company that offers Same Sex Partner Benefits and drive a vehicle made by Ford another Company that offers Same Sex Partner Benefits?

What airline do you fly? Southwest, American, Continental Delta, they all offer Same Sex Partner Benefits! When, I have to travel, I can't drive or Ford or even fly since all these companies endorse the homosexual lifestyle!

Now, even the State of Alaska offers Same Sex Partner Benefits!

Can I really vote for a governor for VP that offers benefits to gay couples?

I am really confused!

You don’t know the whole picture and it isn’t the Will and Grace Show. The bigger problem with “gays” is the fact they are the #1 vector for the spread of diseases among humans and even foreign nations want rid of this public health threat. Male homosexuals have the highest incidence of HIV/AIDS, syphilis, drug-resistant gonorrhea, entamoeba histolytica, chlamydia, herpes simplex II, Chancroid, Drug Resistant TB, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis non A & B, venereal warts, just to name a few. The press of course never discusses the CDC facts, but if you want to look for yourself the information is in the scientific literature. More than any other segment of society, the homosexuals are costing us billions in behavior-related disease and the cost of medical care.

Wrong.
This is not "hate". Please read the comments people posted to the AFA. I see no hatred. They are expressing their opinions, as is allowed under the First Amendment, if I remember correctly, and if you believe people have the right to express ideas you disagree with.
People are letting a company know that they disagree with their policy and products and will not buy from them. If you ran a business, wouldn't you want to know why some people refused to buy your products?

The fact is that a large number of American companies and offer Same Sex Partner Benefits to employees and market their products to the Gay Community.

Thus by working for these companies and buying their products we are all endorsing the concept of domestic Gay Partner Benefits and Gay marketing efforts.

That would be fine if it just went on in our own houses.

The homo agenda has been able to get the 9th Circuit Court to rule that parents’ rights stop at the school house door. In other words parents don’t have a right to know what is going on with their kids at school and don’t have a right to make choices about curriculum.

This all happened after the homo agenda was caught circumventing the rules of parental notification and having demonstrations of God knows what to K-12 graders.

The ones who preach tolerance have no intentions of practicing tolerance.

How about companies and governments that offers same sex partner benefits?

Will you boycott those companies and support the elected officials of states that provide tax payer paid Benefits to Homosexual Partners of State Employees?

We are free to boycott a product for whatever reason. However, you will find that almost every company markets to homosexuals or at least will not refuse to make a sale to a homosexual.

And that is all that Hallmark is doing, they are marketing a product to gays just as every American company does.

Do you not see a VAST difference between those two? I've never heard of Target or Home Depot barring the Fred Phelps / Westboro Baptist people from merely purchasing items at their stores, but you wouldn't be troubled if stores started *marketing* to the God-Hates-Fags demographic? Would Target not deserve condemnation if they started selling T-shirts with that slogan?

If the Fred Phelps Group was a large as the homosexual community, I would expect Target and other retailers to market towards them. However, as far as I can tell the Phelps Mob consists or around 25 people is not worthy of a marketing effort.

Now, if you owned a company would you fail to market to gays or refuse to sell products to gays?

In every instance I can think of, I would boycott a business that refused to sell a widget to a homosexual.  And in every instance I can think of, I would do my best to avoid purchasing something from a business that specifically markets to homosexuals.

And that is all that Hallmark is doing, they are marketing a product to gays just as every American company does.

I don't have a problem with selling products to homosexuals.  I have a problem with specifically designing products for, and marketing to, that market.  In the same way, I would have a problem designing greeting cards for the celebration of drug abuse and alcoholism.
