How Much More Change Can We Stand? (V)
Freeper PLD ^ | 10/8/08 | Unknown

Stick this on your bulletin board and send it far and wide.

George Bush has been in office for 7½ years. The first six the economy was fine. In spite of the mid-2000 Clinton recession, it was even resilient enough to rebound after 9/11. A little over one year ago:

1. Consumer confidence stood at a 2½ year high;
2. Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
3. The unemployment rate was 4.5%.
4. The Dow Jones hit a record high—14,000
5. Americans were buying new cars, stoking the economy, taking cruises, vacationing overseas, living large!

But Americans wanted change! So, in 2006 they voted in a Democratic Congress and yes—we got CHANGE all right. In the past year:

1. Consumer confidence has plummeted;
2. Gasoline is now over $3.75 a gallon, and it had hit well over $4 a gallon;
3. Unemployment is up to 5.5% (a 10% increase);
4. Americans have seen their home equity drop by $12 TRILLION dollars, with prices still dropping;
5. 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.
6. As I write, the Dow is probing another low: $2.5 TRILLION dollars have evaporated from Americans’ stocks, bonds and mutual funds investment portfolios.

Yes, in 2006, America voted for change ... and we sure got it! Remember, the President has no control over any of these issues - only Congress. And what has Congress done in the last two years? Absolutely nothing! They certainly haven’t improved the situation. They’ve made it much worse.

Stop and think about that for a moment. Now the Democratic candidate for President claims he is going to really give us change along with a Democratic Congress!

Just how much more change do you think you can stand?

This was written by Freeper PLD's friend, which I have edited a little and posted separately. This is important. We're within 30 days of a critical election.

We cannot surrender our country and our hard-won, hard-fought American way of life. Please pass this around, and support McCain/Palin in every way you can. Thank you.

Just wait until these Socialists are running all three branches of government in what would be the largest country ever to try Socialism. What a disaster!

I have talked to many (too many!) obamanoids, who refuse to believe that President Bush and Rove don’t control everything! They also believe that Republicans control congress. And,,, they won’t listen to facts! They’re like Moonies!

email from a Hillary supporter NObama....

“And, of course, the committed Obama voters are NEVER going to vote for McCain. NEVER. Not even if Larry Sinclair, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko, and Louis Farrakhan himself all host a joint press conference in the nude and regale the public with tales of drunken and drugged bestiality involving Barack Obama, a donkey, and a very lonely Acorn. And then burn a flag and make fun of how gullible intellectual white people are.”

I believe it.

However, I heard a comment in passing on KSFO the other night ... a black woman had either called in or emailed, saying that while her friends all say in public that they will vote for 0bama, behind closed doors, they confided to her that he was much too radical for them, and they will be voting for McCain.

I do not hold much stock in polls at this point, and the closeness says volumes.

The Ant and the Grasshopper

OLD VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed.

The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!

MODERN VERSION:

The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, "It's Not Easy Being Green."

Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, "We shall overcome." Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Nancy Pelosi and John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.

Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients.

The ant loses the case.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him because he doesn't maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug-related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Be very, very careful how you vote.

Funny and correct. If we can’t convince them for voting McCain, I’ll settle for them just staying home.

I know! It infuriates me that they can [for example] budget $10 million, tax $6 million, spend $8 million, and claim that they saved $2 million dollars when any SANE person would be saying “Gaaa! I’m $2 million in debt!! Holy $h——!”
