Obama calls Delaware's banking laws "pretty loose"

An hour into Tuesday night’s presidential debate, Barack Obama referenced the tax laws in Delaware, calling the laws “pretty loose” and attributing them to why credit card companies locate here.

“That's how in banking it works. Everybody goes to Delaware, because they've got very -- pretty loose laws when it comes to things like credit cards” Obama said. “And in that situation, what happens is, is that the protections you have, the consumer protections that you need, you're not going to have available to you.”

The One will lead us away from the dark days when each of the 57 States could write its own unique laws .

If only Obama knew someone in Delaware who had power to change things, tighten up those laws. Someone in a big leadership role.

Like a Senator.

Joseph Robinette "Joe" Biden, Jr. (pronounced /'dʒoʊsəf rɒbɪ'nɛt 'baɪdən/; born November 20, 1942) is the senior United States Senator from Delaware. He is both the Democratic vice presidential nominee for the November 2008 election and a candidate for re-election in the U.S. Senate.

Nice that he threw "Jumpin Joe-Joe" under the bus with that one...

Can’t believe McCain didn’t jump all over this one...reminding Barry that his VP is the United States Senator from Delaware and has been in his job for 36 years. McCain is not the sharpest tool in the drawer in recognizing openings and pouncing on them.

Yeah, how dare the states be “laboratories of democracy” (Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis) where ideas were tried, the bad ones failed, the best ones succeeded and were picked up by other states.

No, this cannot be. All laws must be implemented nationwide by those who “know better” than everyone else.

Keep in mind, Obama was saying he will FORCE you to insure your kids through his program, and he will prevent you from shopping for a better deal in another state.

Do people realize how crazy (socialist) it is to say that because a company in one other state might not offer a good plan, you can’t look in all 49 other states?

AND what about the people who live in the hypothetical “bad state”? They’re screwed.

Next question: When will Obama outlaw getting a credit card from a company headquartered in Delaware??

Delaware is the state of incorporation for many companies because it offers a stable business environment, and I guess Obama doesn’t know the courts in Delaware as a result are the most sophisticated in handling corporate legal issues.

It should be plain to everyone Obama was pointing to an “evil” that doesn’t exist.

He passed on two many openings to count. Obama threw him slow floating pitches and McCain failed to even take a swing.

I think McCain is trying to keep his mind on what he wants to say instead of listening to what Obama said. And that may not be easy for him.

If McCain “got partisan”, he’d be afraid of “offending the moderates”.

Wow, funny Southside Barry would say this considering that Biden is the “senator from MBNA” which also employs Biden’s son? These guys should get their stories straight.

Delaware is a state made prosperous in part by those “loose” banking laws. Maybe he doesn’t think he needs those three votes, but who cares?

I’m not sure, but I think that Delaware was the first state to provide incorporations. And so, for historical reasons, Delaware has been a central player.

My thoughts exactly when Obama tossed Delaware under the bus.

But who is Biden?

The folks in Florida seem to not have heard the name before.

From today’s headline:

“”Hundreds show for Biden economy talk in Tampa”””
