BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Republican Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign disavowed an introduction here yesterday that included Democratic Sen. Barack Obama's middle name, Hussein.
William Platt, chairman of the Lehigh County Republican Party, twice referred to "Barack Hussein Obama," which other supporters of McCain and running mate Sarah Palin have used to link the Democratic candidate with Muslims. Obama is not a Muslim.
McCain has disavowed the tactic, most recently when it was employed earlier this week.
"We do not condone this inappropriate rhetoric which distracts from the real questions of judgment, character and experience that voters will base their decisions on this November," campaign spokesman Paul Lindsay said in a prepared statement.

McCain lost his spine. Since when is it wrong to call someone by their full name?
This campaign is ridiculous. McCain almost deserves to lose.
Agreed.
I know. Good grief. Enough with the PC crap, it IS his name!
Here is my question...is he going to oppose the use of it on the general election ballot? Because it will be there. Will McCain then stand up for that as well?
RIDICULOUS. Who is running this dog and pony show? This man is asleep. Free Republic is running a better campaign for McCain than McCain is himself.
Say something like "It's inappropriate to use O'bama's middle name, since he is so ashamed of it."
Too old. Too Tired. Too timid.
The McCain committee could say long, loud, and often that they won’t use Obama’s middle name Hussein Hussein Hussein even though Barack and Obama are also Arab names.
I couldn’t help think that McCain really believes he is winning this thing with his ego...I mean the way he was flipping his microphone over to his other hand when he would get a jab in reminded me of some Steve Perry move from Journey after he finished a verse but it looked so out of place.
Your right . Lets get him elected so Sarah can settle in and learn the ropes. No time like the present..
Sen. Barack Muad’dib Obama (D-Arrakis)
HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN HUSSEIN
Classy rag, and such high standards of deportment for U.S. Senators.
It’s uncommon to use middle names, except for serial killers. what’s the point? There are plenty of terrific reasons not to vote for Obama; his middle name isn’t one of them.
This is almost a parody - one pundit (Mark Steyn) predicted this exact behavior from the McCain Campaign. What’s wrong with mentioning the man’s middle name?
Sad, but I'm afraid that is the reality - McCain does not seem to understand that you fight to win - and not to lose.
Hey, no problem. I have a better middle name for Osamabama, but it will get me banned. But I suggest Barack “That One” Obama.
Fine. You feel that way. However, let me point out the public relations error on McCain’s part here. Making it an issue period and talking about it is STUPID. If someone wants to mention his name...let them. Let Obama make an issue out of people using his middle name...let him be the one who has a problem with it.
Problem is re-directed back onto himself having an issue with his name.
McCain is going in reverse. Total idiots are running his campaign into the ground quicker than a car from an airplane.
If Obama wins this election it will be America’s last election (except perhaps for some “show” election).
And you misunderstood my post.
The irony........Oliver Stone has just made a movie entitled “W” which has been Bush’s nickname for 8 years. But remember that he was originally given this nickname in order to make fun of his Southern accent and imply that he’s a hick.
Apparently, some folks think that what’s good for the goose ain’t so hot for the gander........
(By the by......only white folks are “hicks”, does that make this nickname racist?)
Would you people stop it!!! Their “we do not condone using Obama’s middle name of Hussein” is smart. IT MAKES SURE HIS MIDDLE NAME GETS OUT IN THE SPOTLIGHT! HEHE!
said he “Looked like Yosemite Sam after the dynamite failed to explode”>>>
Where do I send the bill for a new monitor? LMFAO
i'm sorry... ask Romney if the press disregarded his religion while he was on the campaign trail. considering he was asked about his mormon faith each and every time a camera was in his face... i'm guessing he won't be sympathetic to barry's predicament.
hey b.hussien obama... how about answering the questions about when and why you changed your name from barry to barak. what's with all the middle eastern types in your campaign? how did you get all these middle east connections?
Is there some way we could jettison McCain and let Palin take over? He’s nothing but a liability.
I'm here to complain about dems using John Sidney McCain inferring that he is a radical Australian.
OK Let’s not use his full name, we should call him Barak Hussein.
I’m serious when I say this...now would be a great time to have him hand it over to Mitt Romney...this way we would know we had a guy who had no problem calling someone out on global television.
Romney called McCain out all of the time. But this is what happens when you have next to zero southern states vote first in the primaries. We get stuck with blue state style voting.
We demand that everyone refrain from using the term “Bush” to refer to the current President. It is a derogatory term for the hair which covers female genitalia cooked up by the “Good Old Boys” network to demean and belittle. Every time that Name is uttered is an affront to all women, young and old. It’s time that the cycle of bigotry and gender-bias come to an end. We will not longer be reduced to pubic hair.
We demand that the President be referred to as George Walker Qutun, the Arabic equivalent. As we all agree there is nothing offensive in using Arabic translation. In fact, it’s good practice for our assimilation in the coming years.
Maybe because it is late, but the only place I actually see it is in the title.
“Here is my question...is he going to oppose the use of it on the general election ballot?”
In two states I know of, you can run under whatever name you like.
Hillary Rodham Clinton, William Jefferson Clinton, Richard Milhouse Nixon, George (Walker, W., Dubya) Bush...

But the FR doom-and-gloom drama queens will be crying about the sky falling as if it is some earth-shaking event. I think they enjoy it.
McCain was tougher on Republicans in the GOP Primary than he has been on Obama.
It’s disgusting.
Or Barack "That One" Obama. :)
As I pointed out on another thread, this is why the Great One is brilliant in referring to Obama as Milhouse.
I remember the DumocRATS saying "George HERBERT WALKER Bush" with relish in 1992. Evidently it is okay to use one's birth and ethnicity against one, if that birth and ethnicity is upper class WASP. If however it is uncertain but with a tinge of Jihad, it ought not to be mentioned.
Maybe by “advertising” how they’re not gonna use Obama’s middle name anymore... just brings more attention to his middle name. ;-) (My Two Cents; probably well played.)
. If McCain told you once, he must have told you 35 times.
“Sen. Barack Muaddib Obama (D-Arrakis)”
Gives new meaning to the name “Worm Rider”. :)
It would be fun if all the talk radio people used a beeper for his middle name, as if they were bleeping out an obscenity. Barack BEEEP Obama.
McCain throws another one under the bus.
"Maybe now the democrats will like me."
It’s the guy’s name. It’s not like it’s a nickname. Why is that a problem??
That won't happen. He'd sooner hand it over to Hillary than to Romney.
