CC Crane sells what they call a AM antenna, which are really more like passive magnifying lenses for AM band radio signals. See:

I also own one of their Sonido radios with has great reception even without the Select-A Tenna. I use a Panasonic Shockwave CD-player-radio not for CD's but because the AM antenna loop in it gives it the best reception of any portable I have tried.

Friends, lovers and allies. The “lover” part is inferred from the Frank Davis background, and also from the commune-sex the Weathermen indulged. Just a guess, no other evidence. In fact, I also have a bit of a hunch that Obama is powering himself within that group of fellow travelers by being chaste — unobtainium — within that otherwise libertine karmic circle of radicals.

Thank you for the summary. I heard a snippet of the obama/smerconish make-out session last night. I mentioned it in another thread that smerconish’s wife is fund raiser for obama. Wikipedia, if it is to be believed, states that his wife is a major fund raiser. I just wonder if that has anything to do with smerconish getting the interview and the kid-glove approach that smerconish took when addressing each issue.

I heard part of this today and I was annoyed because it was full of softballs but none more so that two issues discussed sequentially which just begged for a followup.

First, Smerconish asked if Obama was familiar with the Mumia case and Obama said no but he hadnt studied it but he was for either death or life imprisonment for people who killed cops.

Then the Ayers question was raised in the context of "I take it at your word that you didnt really know him but what do you make of McCain bringing this up" sort of way (I told you, softballs). Obama poo-pooed it and said he didnt agree with Ayers, and he served with businessmen and republicans on the same board and McCain was just trying to change the subject.

Hey, Ayers bombed NYC Police HQ! He tried to kill many police officers! Obama said people who kill cops deserve the death penalty but he works with Ayers!?

Amazing. And no follow-up. Puff piece.

You can hear the glee in voice every time McCain or Palin get bad press. He's always happy to report it.

I've called his show and written to ask why he never pokes fun at biden or obama yet will laugh over sound bites of Governor Palin. No answer was given.

That his wife is a campaign fund raiser for obama may not be true. Still, I would think that if it wasn’t true, someone would correct it.

If it is true- he hasn’t been very open about it. Maybe he doesn’t need to be, after all, what his wife does for a living or who she supports is her business. But he seems to pride himself on his putting all the cards on the table style and that is one card he is not showing.

I’d bet it will probably be the “Sunday Conversation” on SportsCenter with a rerun during Monday Night Countdown or halftime of the Giants game on MNF.

I think, almost sure, the wife is in real estate sales, as is his mother (independently). He’s rooted about like a hog looking for an acorn to some up with “Pawkistan” as the issue that surpasses all others and with which he has manufactured a rationale for supporting Obama while supposedly not totally spitting in the face of his heretofore predominantly conservative audience and his commercial interests. I suspect he flatters himself MSNBC will pick him up some day, especially if Matthews moves on to run for Senate, and then he can abandon his radio listeners with whom he has become so uncomfortable he shut them out of any response to the interview (I didn’t hear the post-830 segment, 45 mins. after the interview), that probably was a stipulation that BO put on it, so nobody could fact check him right away. Meanwhile, MSNBC is playing him for a fool , showcasing him as that sought after gem of the MSM, the lifelong Republican supporting the Democrat this time. Evidence for the gulling they’re pulling on him. Post debate 1, they said they’d be bringing him on for post debate at midnight, had to be hard for a guy who got up at 330AM, as far as I know, they never used him.

Smerconish is no Glen Beck -- who went to CNN yet keeps his respect for truth, no matter where it leads.

I wish Fred Beans would advertise on 990 AM, fwtw.

The one thing that makes me hit the station button or turn the radio off rather than listen to it is the "hawaii beach bum internet guy" ads that run on 990.
